  1. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) I just can't believe some of the responses on here. Every shred of evidence from eye witness to scientific contradicts this woman's story. Yet somehow Kane is still not the victim even though his reputation is ruined (what little good reputation he had left) and he lost substantial money over it. He also somehow embarrassed the Blackhawks because someone made up lies about him. How the hell does that work? I agree the situation is really difficult. But we're kind of arguing over something relatively moot. Kane shouldn't go after his accuser because it doesn't really achieve anything. All that would do is bring more press to the story he wants to go away. The last thing Kane, the Blackhawks, or the NHL wants is for this thing to become any bigger. If Gawker, the Daily Beast, the Huffington Post, or any other left leaning news source caught wind of this, the backlash could be enough to make the NHL do something.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) by science.... the results of the DNA, which is the foundation of questioning her creditably. when the DNA results came back, that was the domino effect in reverse. Right, but someone who is not credible is not necessarily malicious.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) Her account is directly contradicted by her friend as well as several other witnesses as well as DNA evidence. As a last ditch effort her mother fraudulently tried to set up the police dept as the fall guy. How many other things need to happen to point to this being an outright lie? Can you prove that she knowingly and maliciously lied? Can you prove that her version of the story was not a result of her mental state? Until you can, Kane isn't the victim. Kane would be stupid to seek any retribution, anyway. He just wants the story to go away. Last thing he needs is the more left leaning news outlets running away with this.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 08:17 AM) If the Bulls want to beat Cleveland in the playoffs, each of the following has to happen: -Rose plays like he did last night (which actually isn't too far-fetched) -Butler plays good defense but remains a viable offensive option -Mirotic has to come to play, and not put up 2 points like last night -At least 3 of our top 4 bigs have to be healthy (Portis would slip into the #4 spot) -McDermott and Moore have to continue being solid role players Not impossible, but we'll see. Add to that: Something has to happen to LeBron James.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) I know it is because all accounts here point to Kane as the victim, I'm still waiting on the evidence you had that suggested that there was "something there". Don't confuse "not being charged" with "being the victim". In cases of sexual assault, the tables don't turn like that. If that girl did feel threatened, she was still the victim. Unless you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that the plaintiff knowingly and maliciously lied about her situation, you cannot call Patrick Kane the victim.
  6. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) What do you want the NHL to do? Say hey nice job not raping that woman here's a 5 game suspension? As far as we know (and any evidence we've been given has shown) Kane did absolutely nothing wrong that night and nothing worse than any other guy in the league is doing. Kane has been fine since the Wisconsin incident. What do you want him to do, never leave the house and live like a hermit? Like I said, they may not do anything. I would be shocked if people in the Blackhawks organization aren't looking at the possibility of intervening on Patrick Kane's drinking.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) They make the $$$$$$ Disney is requiring them to shave off hundreds of millions over the next few years. Despite record revenues. Right, but the price of contracts with leagues is getting too steep for Disney to handle.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) Fans of the 29 other NHL teams will consider it a story for the rest of his career. Fair or unfair, the same accusation has followed Big Ben, Kobe Bryant. It will be interesting to see what the NHL or Blackhawks do. They probably don't need to do anything and they probably shouldn't have him miss games, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Blackhawks would want Kane to seek some kind of treatment.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 07:17 AM) That's what everyone said last year and the Jets won all of zero games in the playoffs. For sure, but this year is even worse. With the Ducks struggling, the balance of power is even further towards the Central. If the Central beats the pants off the rest of the league, the one seed will come from the Central and the 2 would come from the Pacific. That 7 seed against a weaker Pacific opponent may be the best seed. Of course, if a team like Dallas with a weak defense is the 7 seed, they'll probably still lose.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 07:08 AM) Definitely a goalie loss. With Crawford, that will happen and that's certainly okay. At some point I wouldn't be surprised if the bottom dropped out on him, but I feel like that's seasons away.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 01:38 AM) Why do a lot of people think he's gonna get a restructured deal with the Sox? He's a decent shortstop. He's actually above average and has a little pop in his bat. He's gonna get 12-15 million a year with somebody, believe it or not. He's below replacement level. He passes the eye test, but he's not actually any good. If he gets $12-$15 million, whatever GM does that should be fired on the spot.
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 11:39 PM) I am not saying he's not a criminal it's just the outrage at this point does nothing. Agreed. There's really nothing here that warrants action, so outrage is just wasted.
  13. Ouch. Well, on the bright side, the Blackhawks would kill the Blues in the playoffs. I had an interesting discussion with a colleague yesterday, where he suggested the best seed in the Western Conference SCP would be the 6 or the 7 and made a compelling argument. A team like the Hawks would be hell for the West with a 6 or 7 seed.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:11 AM) Tony is one of the biggest hockey fans on this site. One of the rare people here who you can't even question his hockey knowledge. Then how does he not see what is happening in the rest of the division? It's not that the Blackhawks suck, it's just that the division looks scary. And I know they haven't played each other.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) I'd like him here one more year to let Anderson develop more. Anderson would be terrible if he played in the MLB full time next year. He's too raw. I would let spring training decide, honestly. Alexei is a below replacement level player. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and I'm happy he found some success in the majors, but he's just not a $10 million player.
  16. Alexei isn't worth $10 million. Sound business move. Thanks for a great career, though!
  17. QUOTE (South Sider @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 10:16 PM) If anyone is still worrying about the Central division, just know that there have not been a lot of central vs central match ups yet. Central teams other then Colorado have dominated the east, and yes, that means the central is a good division. But things will even out after more central vs central games occur. Chicago and Colorado have only played 2 central games, Dallas has only played 1, Nashville zero. It will be interesting to see how things shake out. I don't want any part of Dallas or Nashville without Keith on the ice. There is no better forward pairing in the league than Benn/Seguin, who have 20 points each in 13 games.
  18. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) Nope, they suck. Central is too good. They blow. *AustinIllini, signing off.* You don't watch hockey. The Hawks could play this way all season and miss the playoffs. It's the wrong time in the wrong division to be rebuilding. But like I said, I want to see young guys on the ice if the team is going to struggle. I don't want sunk money like Bickell out there.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Props to Rocky for (once again) eating that bad contract. Hawks with the youth movement coming in now. Dano, Kero, Hartman, Panarin, Teravainen, TVR, Gustafsson, Svedberg. All 24 and younger. Bring it. And to tie in with the previous subject: If the Blackhawks are going to miss the playoffs, this is the lineup I want them to miss with.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) They had the same record last year. Looked how that turned out... although I will admit the lack of scoring is a bit worse this year and the fact they have more rookies. I doubt they'll miss the playoffs unless they pull a Kings and really not give a s*** in the regular season. Yeah but now everyone in the division is good. The Stars are 9-2. Nashville holding serve. Blues are always dangerous. Blackhawks looked completely outclassed against Winnipeg.
  21. I know there aren't really a ton of good ways to do this, but I wish more victories were at home.
  22. Good for the Royals. I hate those guys, but at least they built a team the right way.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) Better chance of Gase leaving than Fangio I believe two things about Gase. 1) Gase is doing less with more on the offensive side than Fangio is on the defensive side 2) Gase is gone next year. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) A lot of football experts I've heard are saying that Fangio isn't the type for a HC. I think Fangio is conformable in his current role. It's Gase that you should be worried about. I'm hopeful, but I'm not assuming Fangio doesn't get the call. The Niners should have made Fangio head coach.
  24. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 30, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) What's everyone's take on Noah playing limited minutes? When the Bulls get outrebounded like they have been in all 3 games, it makes me think the small lineup is costing them too much. Noah's never going to be quite the same. I kind of want Gasol playing against the opponent's second team, but Hoiberg is an offensive guy. As long as you have Rose and Butler where they are, the offense is going to have problems in terms of assists. Rose just takes so many awful shots.
  25. QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 07:34 PM) A lot depends on free agency this year. A TON of interesting names that MIGHT hit free agency, and the Bears have the 2nd most cap room. Couple that with a good draft focused on the defensive side of the ball and they could be sitting pretty. Agreed. People often confuse football with baseball. The right draft can turn your fortunes around immediately. My biggest concern is the possibility of Vic Fangio being hired somewhere else as a head coach. People must see what he's doing with a severe personnel deficiency.
