  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) Obama? If it's Jesus Christ, I will be SUPER impressed.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 10:56 PM) I'm going to come out and say it, but if you claim to be a true Sox fan and are cheering for the Cubs this postseason then you are a f***ing idiot. Our beloved franchise has always been the ugly step-child of the Chicago sports scene and a Cubs World Series victory would make us even more irreverent. Go ahead and come up with some lame excuse on why it's ok to cheer for them, but you are literally rooting against the well-being of your own franchise. There is no good that comes to the Sox from the Cubs winning the World Series, none whatsoever. It's absolutely disgusting how many "Sox fans" I know are jumping on this bandwagon and it's even worse how many members on this site, a forum that is home to some of the most die-hard Sox fans in the world, are pro-Cubs right now. I respect your opinion, but this post assumes there isn't room for two winning franchises in Chicago. If the Cubs had won in 2003, the White Sox would still have sold out in 2006. There are enough Chicagoans to fill both stadiums. As far as the Sox being "irreverent", I really could care less what ESPN thinks of the White Sox. And hey, maybe the Cubs winning will bring all the White Sox fans out of hiding next summer. That's my hope.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) I got a feeling jake will be exposed today. I could be way off. I get the same feeling. Mystery first pitch thrower is making the news. Who cares?
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 09:11 AM) http://nypost.com/2015/10/11/utley-is-abou...you-play-dirty/ NY media declares war on Utley. In other unsurprising news, Addison Reed still sucks. That seems totally deserved to me. Dirty slides are awful and cheapen the game.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) It's almost as annoying as that "Go Cubs Go!" theme song. The number one benefit of being far away from the North side. I never have to hear that song.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) David Wright is the most tenured player in baseball. Don't know why that surprises me so much. That's a heck of a trivia answer right there. I am also shocked.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Btw, you are one weird sox fan. I don't post here much, but I read this forum all of the time. You are one weird dude. You should probably stay off of here. You are nothing but a trouble maker. Sorry, I thought this was the general baseball discussion board. I thought we were talking about the Cubs and the Cardinals series. Not sure what this has to do with my White Sox fandom.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) 5 unearned runs? Teams that give up 5 unearned probably don't deserve to win the game.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 11:36 PM) During the season you face so many more #3, #4 and #5 starters, middle relievers, etc. When only the top starters & relievers are playing and they take every at-bat seriously, suddenly the top offenses lose some of their advantage. Great point. Pitchers dominate the postseason it seems. It's particularly strange because it feels like hitting and defense play a huge role in getting you to the postseason. It's just so baseball.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) Cards should have won this game. Too many errors. Really? Losing 6-3 but "should have won?" Okay. sure.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) That's actually not true at all as they were going on this morning on The Score about the Astros and Mets. Everyone is aware of the young talent across the league. The four rookies on the North Side are impressive, but the Astros look even better from a longevity standpoint.
  12. Astros over Royals in 5 Blue Jays over Rangers in 4 Cubs over Cardinals in 4 Dodgers over Mets in 4 Blue Jays over Astros in 6 Dodgers over Cubs in 6 Blue Jays over Dodgers in 6
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) "Go Cubs Go" is being BLASTED literally five feet away from me. On a loop. I'm listening to my music but it's so damn loud I can barely hear it. FML. AustinIllini, I wish I lived in Austin this month. This is terrible. Come on down. Normally, this time of year, I would say "Watch out for Longhorn fans", but they're terrible, so it's just San Francisco, Texas right now. Plus, it's ACL time, but if you went to Lolla, you probably saw a lot of the acts there.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) Who is Adams? Amos? I've been very impressed with Amos, but am not sure who Adams is. "Misspoke" thanks.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:16 PM) Tell that to Trevor Noah after 1 episode of the Daily Show! Make up your mind!!!! It is certainly one game and it doesn't matter, but this is what you get with Daley and Garbutt.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:05 PM) Sox have already added the top college pitcher the last two years. Pretty good start to rebuilding a team while not losing the best assets in the majors. At the end of the day, the White Sox have been abysmal at drafting positional talent. Their pitching draft picks are good, but their batting and defense continue to be a problem despite strong pitching staffs. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) I love how a lot of the chronic complainers act like we've averaged 95 losses over the last decade. Boo freaking hoo, it hasn't been that bad. Either your eyes, your television, or a combination of both are not working.
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) Yeah there is, you'd be throwing away 4-5 seasons with no guarantees that you'll be any better off. It only makes sense if you are in a truly desperate situation, which despite all your wailing is not the case here. What about the last 9 years doesn't scream "desperation"? Look at where the Astros and Cubs are now.
  18. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:09 PM) BTW, what the Sox need to do is stop performing patch work. They need to do a full on rebuild with someone other than Kenny and IMO, other than Hahn and their current scouts. Clean house, built it correct. Problem is, they've already taken like 2 or 3 years building it wrong. Any FAs you sign should be either cheap scrapheap guys or people you intend on flipping at the deadline. Stay the course regardless of what fans say. You have to. Otherwise, pull a Yankees and buy the best players either in trades or elsewhere. Trot out a lineup of: Eaton Cabrera Cespedes Gonzalez Abreu Frazier Kendrick Ramirez Castro For all the broken record comments I get, I have ACTUALLY been broken recording this for a long time. The Sox need a complete rebuild and there is no good reason not to rebuild.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Wouldn't it have to go from 20% (5 teams) to 25%, 4 teams? 12.5% would be the chance of any of the 8 remaining teams winning it all, if all things were equal (which they're not, since the Wild Card teams sacrifice one start from their ace in the Division Series). It's telling that White Sox fans are more excited hoping for the Cubs to lose (myself included) than actually excited about our own team over the last 4-6 weeks, but it is what it is. Honestly, with how bad things have gotten...maybe some additional suffering in the form of the Cubs winning the World Series might finally wake up someone at 35th and Shields to the reality of the situation. Like most, they're probably counting on the Cubs somehow being cursed or blowing this thing. There's certainly no guarantee that will happen, not when you have a young team that doesn't care about what has happened in the past and just kind of shrugs like high school students do when you talk about the 1960's when they only care about the latest computer game, iphone, ipad, etc. If it didn't happen in their lifetime, the players often aren't aware, even of icons like Ernie Banks, Fergie Jenkins, Billy Williams, and gasp, Ron Santo. That's what I thought at first, but it's not really correct. The odds of you reaching the World Series if you make the division series is 1/4 (25%). The odds of a Wild Card team making the divisional series is 1/2. It's a simple and statement. Odds of reaching the World Series from the DS x the odds of making the DS = 25% x 50% or 12.5% Cut that in half and that's their chances of winning the world series. Now that the Cubs have beaten the Pirates, their chances have doubled. Even if all things aren't even, they have increased significantly the chances of them reaching and winning the world series.
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) Is Arietta that good or the Pirates just that bad haha? Arietta wasn't great but the Pirates didn't capitalize.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) News media just told me the cubs are a step closer to winning it all. Statistically, if all teams are equal, the Cubs double their chances of reaching the world series from 12.5% to 25%. They're not wrong, but it's still kind of silly.
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Nobody I know either! You don't talk to many adults?
  23. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) Anyone else feel like AustinIllini's posts are a like a bloody broken record? You're right. Let me be like everyone else here cheering for a team they don't actually caring about the way they cheer for the White Sox.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) Too you I was once like you, then I grew up and learned to like baseball for what it is. A game. I want the White Sox to win. The Cubs can win and I'll be happy for their fans. Make no mistake, this White Sox team is agonizing and the fact that Ventura is still on the bench next season makes me miserable. I am a die hard White Sox fans and I tried hard to buy into this team. I was wrong. The Cubs have nothing to do with it.
  25. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) That is your opinion. That's a fact.
