QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:47 AM) Yeah, bringing cheetahs to games is why they'll make the playoffs Well, it couldn't make the White Sox any worse, could it?
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) How dare you criticize a reporter Jimmy! So disgraceful. Supporting someone who threatens a person because of their view is disgraceful. The last thing the Blackhawks need right now is their fans threatening local reporters.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) At least I won't have to hear her stumble through updates today. This is a disgrace. Kindly move somewhere far away and burn all your indian head attire. Blackhawks fans should be better than this.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) I could definitely see that happening They almost have to. Right now, he's not super marketable and he's a cornerstone of your franchise. The reality is, Kane has to be more responsible. No, of course he's not immediately guilty in this instance, but this is not his first incident where he's been out drinking and winds up with some pretty disturbing allegations coming out. You just don't hear about this happening to many other players.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) What a crazy few days. It's kind of ruined a Stanley Cup summer. Better go win another one. This whole thing deserves justice, but neither party will get it. The Blackhawks will have to tread lightly with Kane for at least a season. I wouldn't be surprised if the Blackhawks would want Kane to get some treatment for alcohol abuse as well.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) For sure. But if the DNA evidence is accurate he may not have done it. Pubic areas leave DNA even with a condom Again, penetration is not a prerequisite for sexual assault.
-
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) bs You don't get exonerated for alleged rape. And penetration is not required for sexual assault, by the way. The full questionnaire in a rape kit can explain why DNA came out the way it did.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) It's pretty close. More and more this case has no legs to stand on. How often does a prosecuting attorney quit when it's a legitimate case? If he did anything to her without consent (may not have left DNA either), he did commit a crime. There may not have been evidence from DNA, but not all rapes are particularly violent, either. If she said no, it's illegal.
-
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:37 PM) This doesn't mean Kane is innocent. I think we're assuming because her lawyer is quitting that Kane is innocent. He could still have done this. It is, however, looking more and more like he's going to have the accusations dropped. This is a reasonable response. He cannot be exonerated, because he'll never be charged due to insufficient evidence, but he could still have done it.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) In your reply they are referring to the mother. If they could prove it, they could get her for obstruction of justice, I suppose.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) I agree. Couldn't she face charges for fabricating a story in an ongoing investigation? No. There's so much loaded into a criminal countersuit. They would have to prove the woman didn't think she was assaulted and was knowingly fabricating a story.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) Where do the Bears have solid, young talent right now? The only name that comes to mind is Kyle Long. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) Alshon? QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) Alshon Jeffery. Hopeful on sutton/ferguson/goldman. The injuries are concerning. He might not be a piece of the long term solution. I would say Kyle Long over Alshon. The young talent we're referring to is Long, White, and the Safety version of Kyle Fuller. Alshon might get franchised by the Bears at the end of his contract, but I think Pace and Co will want to see more durability out of Alshon going forward. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 06:08 PM) To prove that they do have all the evidence and it's properly taken care of and stored. And prove still that Kane did not do this. Honestly, they won't be able to prove Kane didn't do it. He can never truly be exonerated, but he likely won't get charged. The fact is, the DNA isn't the issue. If she didn't consent and he even tried to do something, that's still foul play.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) For what exactly? Being accused of sexual assault. They can still pay him, but they shouldn't be parading him out there out of respect for potential victims.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) Joe Maddon brings cheetah to cubs game!!!!11 Another amazing example of Joe keeping the clubhouse loose!!1! This is truly revolutionary managing!!!!111!!!!!11! Last year both teams were garbage. This year, we're garbage and the Cubs are great. Whatever it takes, right?
-
Double-edged sword for Kane. On one hand, he probably won't be charged. On the other hand, he won't be exonerated. This is still bad news for the Blackhawks.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) I wouldn't overthink it. Greinke has been dominating from the start of the season, and hasn't really stopped. Best ERA. Greinke, Arrieta, Kershaw. I feel the same. I don't think Arrieta is all that close. W-L are just so meaningless.
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) I honestly have no idea who wins the Cy Young at this point. I could see any of Greinke, Arrieta, and Kershaw winning it. Greinke's got the ERA, Kershaw dominates them both in advanced metrics, and Arrieta has the best combination of both. Considering Arrieta has arbitration coming up, does winning the Cy Young affect his salary for the next season? I'm not sure, but I'm sure he's a Cub next year. I think the length of the contract will be the point of contention between teams.

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) all these comments here and including mine are simply a guest. my problem has been several things, where were the defensive marks, scratches on Kane??? Kane's body wasn't part of a rape kit. As a result, he was likely not examined at the same time, if at all. next is why are the victims letting kane and company do this pr move. yeah it is a pr move. no marks, high celebrity going about and doing his work. I'm not sure what this is referring to. The press conference was confusing to me, because 1) The investigation is still ongoing. If he's charged, they can't play him, so that pr stunt looks bad. 2) It reaffirms that the center of this SC Winning offseason was an off the ice issue centered around one player. these questions, a lawyer needs to answer, but i am wondering if it is their time to come out. did she have any facial bruising, black and blue hand grips bruising on her arm. maybe the legal team is coming out with a set of statistics showing and further explaining the dna results and lack of dna samples in past cases. The alleged victim's word is an important piece of the puzzle. Her actions are certainly text book for someone in her situation. i don't know. these are some of the questions i had since the dna results and since this started. The problem is always the same with sexual assault, though. My responses are in bold. It's a really touchy subject and we don't really examine the fact that he may have just assaulted her or made her feel threatened, both of which are crimes. We shall see tomorrow I suppose.

2015-16 NCAA Football Thread
Bananarchy replied to LittleHurt05's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
8% to Notre Dame? Does that include the bowl game where they get destroyed by a hungry SEC team? -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) I can't imagine that's a good thing for Kane or the Hawks. Odds are, the damage has already been done. I don't understand why a press conference is necessary. Either charge him or don't.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) Not sure I'd compare Kane to a crack addict. I'm not sure you've actually looked up Hamiltons past He's done significantly more damage to the Blackhawks brand than Hamilton has done to the Rangers brand. I don't believe Hamilton has been accused of a violent crime. It's less fair to Hamilton. Kane is in the position where he needs a babysitter.

If the Sox arent in the top 10, how do you improve this offseason?

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 06:27 PM) Players go where the money is. I can't remember the last time a guy signed a contract because "he wanted to win" and meant it. Fixed. But your point stands. People follow the money, period. -
I'm convinced this is what is going to happen. 1) Lawyers don't charge (maybe some civil payoff) 2) NHL takes no action 3) Blackhawks do whatever they can to force Patrick Kane into some sort of treatment for alcoholism. Patrick Kane is a bit of a behavioral risk not unlike Josh Hamilton.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) Zobrist doesn't strike me as a guy who would sign with a team so far away from the playoffs. Agreed. This feels like a Kenny Williams move.
