  1. If we were a Luis Robert away from contention, I would maybe feel differently. However, we're not.
  2. Honestly, the stupid “they need to pull him up now” takes need to die. An extra year in a player’s prime is more valuable than a month-ish in a losing season.
  3. I expect a huge influx of hall of very good players now.
  4. Please add @vilehoopster to that list. Honestly, I would throw in cash considerations to make his takes go away. Trade Andrew Vaughn? WTF
  5. Whatever it costs in adjustment time is made up for the fact you get an extra peak season. You can't debate your way out of this. The White Sox are better letting Robert stay in the minors to maximize team control.
  6. Luis will have time to adjust in 2020
  7. 76ers are not an MLB franchise and are not relevant to this discussion
  8. Richie just took @Fan O'Faust and Greg to the cleaners. He basically just deregistered their accounts
  9. If I'm a player, I don't sign anything until the next CBA. He's already set for life. If rules regarding service time change for active players, there will be gobs of money flying around to sign these guys.
  10. The point remains: It's unlikely the Sox are going to sign Robert and he is going to be in the minors for the remainder of the season to prolong the window.
  11. I was on the board during the draft this year and Vaughn was considered a "safe" pick. Kris Bryant was a no brainer pick and the Astros passed on him. You get credit for all your draft picks.
  12. You're all over the place, but signing the Cuban guys is going to be harder because they got huge signing bonuses with their teams. The comps are interesting and everything, but the Cuban guys are just a different discussion when they hit
  13. Andrew Vaughn and Nick Madrigal...
  14. Because they acquired him with a $50 million price tag and he hasn't played a major league game. Plus, anything they give Robert is going to come back to bite them when Moncada and all the other young phenoms want to get paid. If you overpay Robert, you're doomed to overpay everyone else and the window shrinks.
  15. The deal would have to be team friendly. Moncada and Robert were signed for big money and don’t need to settle for a team friendly contract.
  16. In most markets, there is no difference between being mediocre and being horrible. Attendance is all about winning. However, to win in the current game is to build the organization from the ground up. Tanking is one way to do it. There is no justifying being "anti-tank" in this league as built.
  17. While this is true, the rules are the rules and the White Sox would be crazy longer term to pull Robert up early. It's not about the money, it's about the control. The fact is, Robert was very, very expensive and the Sox need to get as much value out of the signing as possible.
  18. And we will. No doubt about it. First you need cost controlled assets (developed prospects) so you know you're not wasting money on free agents. Draftees are the foundation. Free agents fill the holes
  19. Sequel to the Moncada thread. The last thread about him is scorched earth. Let’s chat about him specifically. So far, so good
  20. You can afford to pay all these guys in a situation like this. But yeah, I agree with @Chicago White Sox. GTFO
  21. Go find another team and spare us more of this horseshit.
  22. I have never "ripped" JR for being cheap in free agency. @Moan4Yoan can vouch for me. And it's not about the money, it's about having the player an extra year.
