QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) He swings and misses and hits himself and he gets first base. He's having that kind of year.

That's just stupid.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Dude, there's been, like, 47 no-hitters/perfect games in the last five years. It's not even a big deal anymore. Nailed it. That ship has sailed. It's a pitchers league.

QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) Playoffs or not, they're a good up and coming team. They're not 19 games over .500 due to luck. Nope it's all luck. The Cubs haven't won anything in the last 100 years and it's clearly because they're not winners. 2005. Blah blah blah. When did our fanbase become so obnoxiously predictable?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) http://m.mlb.com/news/article/143447766/da...reveals-hes-gay Denson is a prospect on the Brewers Rookie-ball affiliate. This is fantastic for baseball. Hopefully more are to follow. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 12:35 AM) Unless there's proof that PP is "profiting greatly" (and that would have to be defined, which would be hard to do to anyone's satisfaction) from the tissue above and beyond the normal costs/fees that are passed on in similar situations, I'm not sure what the great stink is all about. Conservative agenda. It doesn't matter what PP does, the religious right will vilify them. "You must give birth to that child you have no means to raise" "Okay, do I get help so that my kid can be healthy and happy?" Republicans are pro birth. PP is pro happy children with happy lives.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 12:15 AM) Holy crap. I didn't realize the Cubs had that kind of a W/L record. They are locks for the playoffs. Hard to believe there will be postseason baseball in Chicago this year. If they can't win the division, though, they got to play in the one-game wildcard, right?? That would suck for them if they end up with the kind of record they may have. 19 games over .500. The White Sox can't learn anything from the Cubs

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 04:37 AM) the cubs made hand over fist money with that exact same formula. harry on tv, and ron santo on the radio! The White Sox will never be the Cubs. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 11:12 PM) Kind of like the White Sox farm system in 1999-2000, the White Sox dynasty of 2005 and the first half of 2006 and the Gordon Beckham/Dayan Viciedo/Quentin/Danks/Daniel Hudson/Floyd/Alexei juggernaut as 2009 approached. Heck, all that talent coming into the system in the late 80's only turned into one actual playoff team. Trades, Cuba (AA, essentially) and pitchers. Yippee.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) To me it's not a question of 'love' or 'hate' Hawk. It's the realization that he's 73 and simply not the same broadcaster that he was 20 years ago. Plus for right or wrong, he's a symbol of the ever unchanging Sox organization that has grown stale and set in their ways as far as how to run a baseball opearation. New blood is needed on the baseball side of things and that includes the broadcasting booths in my opinion. Mark The symbol part for sure is dead on. He is so bad at scouting position players you can't help but wonder if it's a bunch of Hawks out there drafting players. All the "he's the best since", "he reminds me of...", "he looks like x baseball player.". It's like that scene in Moneyball where the A's scouting staff is just horrible. That's Hawk every day. -
QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Remember back in 2003 when the Cubs were stacked for the next decade? A rotation of prior, wood, and zambrano! Young studs in aramis Ramirez, Corey Patterson, and bobby hill! Yea... Let's let this thing play out first. A lot can happen between now and the next 10 years. Cubs, like the white sox, don't exactly have the best track record of prolonged success so they still have to prove it when it matters most before we crown em. That was before we knew what "stacked for a decade" meant. The Cardinals are the model, and the Cubs have copied it to a T. Given, they're not very far into it, but don't be surprised if the Cubs we see now continue to move and rotate MLB talent and replace them with the next big blue chip draft pick. Just look at the Cardinals. It's like whoever puts their darn cap on is suddenly just good. The Cubs and Astros are headed that way, it seems.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) How come it seems half our fan base hates our legendary broadcaster? Any team that has a legend seems to embrace their legendary broadcaster but not White Sox fans. Hawk is entertaining, his voice is not grating, he's creative, he's funny, he actually blasts the team that writes his checks (or at least has a great say in his hiring) on occasion unlike all other broadcast crews, he doesn't mock the opponent like other teams crews, he tells good stories, he has good catchphrases but doesn't overuse them (except KC special for some reason). He's great. Why do some people want a plastic, Wink Martendale-voiced homer? Sometimes a good thing can last too long. Hawk doesn't believe in advanced metrics, he says things that are blatantly wrong ("Those days when you raise your own players in the minors are over"...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?), he does not relate to younger fans (for example, no one under 40 knows half his references). It's not hard. WAR is important, not everyone is the next Yaz, Trayce Thompson is not a 30 HR hitter, and he's an absolute bore. On days when Stony is out, the White Sox broadcast is unlistenable to anyone who isn't a simpleton. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) People still buy into the Peavy talk and are blind to the performance. BTW Peavy's post season is far from stellar. I don't remember him showing up for those games for the Sox in August. So what did I say that was wrong? When did Shark win a ring?
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) Hey, if those s***heads on the north side can go on a fifteen of sixteen run, why can't the Sox? Because the White Sox are bad.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 09:03 PM) they have the 12 th best run differential in baseball. Have won an almost impossible 27 one run games this year. yes they have two really really good teams in their division, but there a way more bottom feeders They get to play in the NL. They are certainly good, and getting better, but I'm gonna hold off before I get too excited about them #dennisgreenvoice But yes, when they sign another ace and bullpen, and Their core gets more experienced they are going to be great Insane record in one run games. sounds familiar...2005 White Sox

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 07:15 PM) Ugh gross. Not even the best QB in his conference. Don't be fooled by the fact he has no offensive line. He is the best NFL QB prospect next year, period.
-
The Bears going 3-13 could be fantastic. Christian Hackenberg is a talented QB and would look great in blue and orange.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) Sounds like Javy or Edwin Jackson... He can join Jake Peavy in the non big game pitcher category. Hopefully we get to see if Sale can get it done in meaningful September games at some point before we all start to receive circulars from AARP. Give Peavy credit. He has pitched bigger games than Shark. Also, notice this game was not particularly big. It just stings a little more because of the opponent.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 06:49 PM) The only bright side to if they have to pitch Arrieta in WC game is that it could mean one less start vs the Cardinals, a team he's dominated. That will make me feel a lot better about the horrible state of the White Sox organization.
-
No worries. He's gone after this season. I think many of us have seen enough. I think we have already drafted his replacement.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) Not me a Sox win and a Cub loss is a great day to me. I hope the Cubs never win the World Series. All signs point to your continued disappointment.

Hawk deserves every piece of criticism. He is a complete joke. -
QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) I am kinda of already tired of being trolled by Cubs fans at work and on FB. Like when I look through my timeline and they are saying WHERE ARE U SUX FANS NOW? GO 2005!........Yes it is juvenile and I should be above that but damn I have to really stop myself from responding and feeding into it. LOL Unfortunately, it looks like you'll have to get used to it. The Cubs looked stacked for a while.
