  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) This is really disappointing. What a s*** show. This front office has a lot of work to do. Where do we start?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) The move you can call impressive for me is getting a guy like Arrieta and turning him into something valuable. Turning Samardzija into the #7 prospect in baseball (IIRC that's where BA had him slotted)? easy move. Stealing Rizzo from San Diego? Easy move. And yes, they drafted Bryant, after the Astros passed on him. They put themselves in a position where mostly they were making fairly easy decisions. Some of them have even backfired - Castro extension for example. It's like us getting Rodon. Easy move. Schwarber...if he keeps hitting like this, much more impressive move. And the thing is, now Cub fans understand why they were bad for so many seasons. They look to be competitive for multiple seasons. It's been said the White Sox can't do something like that, but they've been so bad year in and year out, could it really be that much worse than it is right now?
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) Schwarber was a great pick given the industry consensus going into the draft. Right, and while the Sox are fantastic at drafting pitching, they could use some real fielding prospects. The Cubs understand they will have to overpay for pitching and they're okay with that, but their fielding prospect pool is just so rich. It's the same thing that makes the Cardinals excellent year in and year out.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) How hard is it to "Draft Kris Bryant"? (No one who works for the Astros is allowed to answer this question). It's not just Kris Bryant. I don't think they drafted Bryant, anyway. It's Kris Bryant, it's turning Shark into Addison Russell. Their minor leagues are just so stacked and their FO just gets it.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:34 PM) Can we just steal the Cubs scouts? I look at what that club has done with great envy. Houston, too. There needs to be a scouting and development shakeup. I have a feeling a lot of that falls on the remnants of Kenny Williams past and current power.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) They need to spend and *gasp* trade prospects. Yes those mystical things. Honestly, they need to successfully draft position players. It's been a huge boon on their success.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) Hey maybe we'll be in the playoffs right before Chris Sale decides to leave. That would help. I'm pretty sure Sale won't decide to leave the White Sox. He has "trade deadline move" written all over him if the Sox continue to be bad.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) The trade deadline couldn't have come at a worse time It kills me because he was the only player we had that had both trade value and a chance at a decent return. You can't trade Sale, he's irreplaceable. You can't trade Abreu, you'll never get face value.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) Game. Most important games Sale and Jeff suck.. Sale is still amazing. Shark has had a rough season. Sure doesn't look like $100 million.
  10. We should have traded Shark to Kansas City.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Jeff can't do anything. Perfect pitches to hit Seriously. Jeff Danks.
  12. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) New drinking game: take a shot every time Hawk says Kansas City Special Finish the keg when Hawk retires.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) They need to get Saladino out of the 2nd spot, as he's not doing much of anything over the last 10 days offensively. Agreed. Having a hole in spots like that is killer. The 2 spot bats too many time for him to look that bad.
  14. I'm unable to watch the game at the moment, but does it look like Shark has calmed down?
  15. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:49 PM) Lol if he says he is ok then he was fine. You aren't going to take your DH out of the game in the 2nd inning unless he really can't do anything. He was clearly not fine. Looks like he just came back out after limping into the training room.
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) If anything it is a bone bruise, nothing structural so limping around the bases isn't going to hurt him further Thanks doctor, but at the very least you can't have him limping around the bases.
  17. Jesus Danks yesterday and now Ramirez walks. Baseball is silly.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:30 PM) It actually is Few games are so important you let your best player limp around the bases. This is not one of them.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) Jose killed that but he is hurting quite a bit Right. This particular game is not that important. Dude can't run the bases. More crap from a second rate coaching staff.
  20. shoot. He doesn't look like he should be playing. Edit: He shouldn't be. That was a double.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) He got plunked yesterday. That looked like Samardzija retaliation to me. I hope he is smarter than that. Retaliation is horrible for teams in Wild Card races.
  22. Great, now Abreu is going to get plunked, just wait.
