  1. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Hahn should look into trading him this offseason. I don't think he should trade Sale, but he should see what kind of offers he gets. After 2016, if the Sox are still staffed by corpses with hats, then yeah, trade him. What can you possibly get? If the Cubs came calling for Sale, what would you want in return? They have a ton of talent.
  2. Chris Sale signed his contract. The end. He's not really moveable because 1) teams overvalue their prospects 2) Sox would ask for an enormous amount of young talent in return for the 3rd pitcher in a century to have 12 Ks in 5 straight games.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) I think we should try to fire both. All the players, GM, and coaching staff. I was on the fence about Hahn earlier on, but if the only way the rest of everybody gets fired is to include Hahn, so be it. bring in a baseball consultant and hire a new GM. The whole department of baseball operations is garbage.
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) One thing that I've noticed...what we think is fair and what we've been getting from certain trades is not the same. We normally get much less than expected. Part of the reason why I'm extremely resistant to trading Sale. This is exactly why Sale will be here for the remainder of his contract.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) The asking price remains "a player the team will not give up." That's kind of what I figured. Teams overvalue their prospects and we have a staff Ace. yikes.
  6. So, how much do we all think we can get for Sale? It sucks to be at this point, but we won't be good until the end of Sale's contract.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Avi is one of the last players I would list as one of the problems. All the more reason to move him. It's time to rebuild a la Cubs and Astros.
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) not really. the last big blow up the fans had on the sox was over 12+yrs. i think. they don't dig it deeper, they just show a little camouflage paint job and complain about the fans not coming out to support them and why should they continue this. BS. all the time making money. You clearly have no idea how bad it can get. Miami, Houston (prior to this revival season) are proof it can ALWAYS get worse. Always. At least Houston had a grander plan, much like the Cubs. This White Sox team is a disaster and it is getting worse EVERY season. Your franchise is either getting better or worse. There is no "Staying the same"
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) its been like that for yrs... what makes this go around different??? Nothing. They just keep digging deeper. Each year, the situation gets worse.
  10. If Eaton actually is terrible, we can blame his contract on Hahn, but the players on this team have underperformed and our manager has lost us games. Plain and simple. If you want to put the fact that Hahn extended Robin on Hahn, fine. But Rick put a talented team together for Ventura et al to screw up.
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ May 3, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) how will he run this franchise into the ground?? he is making tons of money, when he is doing the same thing. this franchise should have won more ws. but.... oh well i will not go into a rant. It is absolutely happening right now. What you see on TV is a franchise being run into the ground.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:33 PM) Unfortunately, we're dealing with the reality of our organization on this one. Ventura really got through to people for one year, maybe we can get that magic again. In fairness, Maddon did coach at TB for some time, so it's possible Rick could find a smart guy to manage the White Sox.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:20 PM) If he challenged and lost, then the Sox lost on another bad call they couldn't challenge, if it came out the replay guys told him the tag was clearly missed, Robin would get blasted. This is the worst, most twisted defense of a bad manager. If this is what you have to do to defend Robin, he should already be out the door.
  14. QUOTE (OnlyGillis @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) One word for Ventura ... FRIGHTENING !! It's not cute anymore. He has played a major part in two losses. Good managers don't cost you games.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) I didn't even know you can get out of market channels like that. I already pay $150 a month for Gigabit internet + Cable. Yeah, UVerse's U-450 package includes all the sports channels including CSNC, but obviously all the games are blacked out. For me, I just bought MLB.tv with the money I saved on moving down to the U-200 package. Also, I don't have to listen to Hawks nonsense, either.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) I really want to watch this, but I don't get CSNC in Austin. I got it on UVerse in Austin for about a year. Then one day, I looked at my Cable bill. Nope. Sidebar: I really hope this 05 team doesn't become the '85 Bears. Hopefully Rick and Company win another one soon.
  17. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 02:05 AM) Don Cooper is an asset. It's not even up for discussion. /thread Agreed. It's unfortunate the first few starts went poorly, but Cooper is a fantastic pitching coach. I'm more irked with the dumb plays on the field and the base paths, honestly.
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) Are we forgetting that Ventura benched Flowers for Phegley in July of '13 or is the hatred for Robin clouding the facts for you? Sorry, you're right. Maybe Robin will bench him in July. Please. He's not a good manager.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) At what point in this season is Flowers the back up catcher With a real manager, four games ago. With Ventura: August. Great outing for Sale.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 02:55 PM) Remember when people were comparing Chris Sale to Randy Johnson? I think he's pretty much there... If he can match the longevity, he's there. Needless to say, those comparisons don't really start until long after Sale is in a different uniform.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 07:56 PM) Out of the Cubs and White Sox, which do you think is in setup where it is most important that they win this season? If both teams win 70 games this season, which is it worse for? I'm not sure. A lot of unproven pieces on both teams. Abreu is likely superior to anyone on the Cubs (Rizzo in 2014 was quite good, but not Abreu good). Castro is a bit better than Alexei. Third is a blunder for both at the moment. The pitching for the Sox is better on paper. Fowler and Eaton are similar, edge Fowler. Intersted to see how Kris Bryant plays. He looks really special.
  22. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) The Cubs are always great at falling for over hyped experienced managers. Without digging up the Cubs too much, I'd rather have their timely hitting problem. The White Sox have been downright embarrassing.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) I like it. We got whooped but I want us to play with an edge all year. Retaliation is all fun and games until a critical team player is injured by a bean ball. The best retaliation is winning. Period.
  24. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) The Royals still look like AL champs with that killer pen and the Sox.........they still look like the Sox. That bullpen is unreal. The idea that every lead is safe is just insane to me.
