Easy, Gandhi.
-
and honestly, if you're not complaining about this lineup tonight, you're just wrong.
-
Watch the game, dude.

I was being facetious.
-
He's still good ole Carlos Sanchez
-
I can't wait for this team to swap out the rest of the bums for prospects.
-
He was an absolute assclown

Kenny Williams and any future hall of famer past his prime

Ozzie Guillen and Jay Mariotti

Ozzie Guillen and DeWayne Wise

At least TA or Eloy would fly out spectacularly. That was horrible.
-
TA should have batted by now. Yay Eloy up to start the 2nd with no one on. Damn it, Rick
-
We're going to pay for TA at 7 now
-
You can, but you're going to have to close your laptop

So it tapers? Weird. Texas is $100 a year I think. Most successful modern societies have some level of "have more, pay more". It's basically the way huge portions of society work.

Best Organizational Young Talent Since???
Bananarchy replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Fine. Don't give him a pass. What do you want to do about it? -
And, of course, all of this is pie in the sky. We'll probably have to pay for at least two or three guys potentially, whether through $$$$ or trades.
-
Agreed with a couple of things to add. I think you can pay McCann nicely and shore up C for a short while. While we don't have one in the majors yet, 2B is probably Nick Madrigal's at some point. He could bust but it's too early to tell. RF is the tricky one. If Eloy has to be in the outfield, it will be hard to hide poor defense in the outfield.

Best Organizational Young Talent Since???
Bananarchy replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think this is well said and should be pinned. We need to stop bringing up Tatis because none of this potentially happens if past trades didn't happen. It happened. That's all that really needs to be said on that front. I think the answer to OP's question is probably "no", but it's not that fair of a question because our opinions of past young talent are obviously shaped by their development. This question about the 2016-2020 farm system is better asked in 2025. That being said, anyone who isn't at least moderately enthusiastic about the future of this organization is buying trouble. -
And at 3rd, which is awesome.

He's agreeing with Ron. Pay no mind.

The Cubs are in a completely different situation than we are. Also, when the Cubs spent, they needed starters bad. The White Sox are unlikely to follow that model as they actually have pitching in the minors. And Heyward was a bad signing. Spare us the Cubs comparison. We might have to wait a little bit longer than the Cubs did, but that's the way things go sometimes. Stop comparing the White Sox to the Cubs.

Another place I'm kind of torn. Google delivers serious value through ad revenue to the user. Gmail is free, Google Photos is free, and a bunch of other services are free. They do that based on ad revenue from search. So, if we were to take Google, break off search, then everything else would flounder. That's not even including Android, which is also free. Facebook, on the other hand, is a true social networking monopoly which absolutely needs to be broken up. Facebook has bought the two biggest competitors in the marketplace (whatsapp, instagram) and eliminated any competition. The evidence of abuse or monopoly is rampant so I really feel breaking facebook into three companies is a no-brainer. However, I'm also realistic. in the 1990s the government failed to break up Microsoft and will do so again now. All that will happen is concessions will be made. Nothing good enough. It makes me so mad, too. For me, Facebook is a utility I use to keep up with my family 1000 miles away and I can't simply quit it as much as I want to. Maybe if instagram wasn't a facebook property I could leave Facebook behind.

I tend to agree, but the problem is that could stifle competition because Facebook and Google can afford to pay for these breaches but smaller companies cannot.

What does the Cubs' spending have to do with ours? They are at a completely different part of their window than we are.
