Dear FO: Harper VS Machado, Soxtalk Will Help You Decide
Bananarchy replied to Jerksticks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Everybody wears damn Bulls hats. I live in Texas and Bulls hats and Sox hats are everywhere -
Loved him when we had him but there's no way I want to overpay that throwing motion.
-
He says things with no basis but sometimes he's right. The thing is, he never stops with the bad takes so it seems like he's correct frequently.

Should be crazy. LWE games don't look close but Brother Rice also appears to be a head above as well. -

I don't follow closely enough. Why is Brother Rice a 1 seed and LWE a 2 seed? -
The $7500 tax credit would have expired anyway. Also, EVs should be subject to a tax to repair infrastructure they utilize.

No one is beating Lincoln-Way East. They're just blowing everyone out of the water. -
The dynasty crap is overblown, but the Cubs are doing what every team should try to do: compete perennially. That's the goal.
-
Should have tanked for beer

I would do whatever it took if Joe Maddon was shown the door on the north side to get him to be skipper on 35th and Shields. You should probably feel that way as well. Dude has had an insane run with Chicago and Tampa Bay.
-
More sources suggesting Maddon won't get an extension.
-
Being brutally honest, the games he calls on ESPN have been more meaningful and more interesting. I can see where you'd get a little crazy in games that were Not meaningful blowouts Overall, though, I'll take him.

It's waaay too early to be doubting Underwood. We're still too close to the demise of Mike Thomas and all his hires. Groce was a great guy but he left the cupboard empty in Champaign. -
If the average replacement color analyst is a 1 WAR analyst, I'll say Stoney is a 1.9 WAR.
-
At first I thought the Cubs were too smart of that, as is would likely cost them a couple of their younger players. Now, with Russell likely done in a Cub uniform, they might as well try to get Machado, really.
-
I won't go that far because Stone does some things really well and I think he's likely better than a replacement broadcaster.
-
He's one of the up and coming stars in the business. We're lucky to have him. He gets a little silly with Stoney.
-
This. We're already writing off our best prospect. It's infuriating how much Sox fans are like Cub fans.
-
Is it hahn, hostetler, renteria, the coaches, or all of them??

Okay guys. Crowdsourcing. What the hell is this guy talking about? Rebuilds suck. For everyone. There were Tribune articles about the Cubs rebuild. There are ignorant posters here who don't understand how the MLB works. You take the good where you can find it and if you look at the minors, you find it. -
Even if Madrigal comes up in 2020, we're still too early to worry about Moncada's future. 2019 will say a lot
-
So we're not that far off. You said "Not ready" to lead. I agree. The stats bear that out. I just have a problem with guys like Dick Allen making it sounds like there isn't any development happening here. But look at Javier Baez prior to this year. Not much better than Moncada this year. Baez broke out this year. Moncada has a strikeout problem but he can break out of that.
-
Too soon to say. The speculation about Madrigal is a little silly right now. When he comes up we'll have a better idea who Moncada is. Until then, there's really nothing to talk about.
-
He's still a 2 WAR player despite his trouble and, you're right, he's a youngster.
-
You come across as so intelligent but your points are empty calories. Tim Anderson is a much better player this year than last year. Moncada struggled but learned to take his lumps and get back out there. Reynaldo Lopez was good even when his stuff wasn't. You're not watching the same team as everyone else or you don't know what you're watching. Striking out, walking, giving up runs are part of development when your team is so young. This team is a couple of years away and the guys in the majors outplayed the minors and had nothing else to learn there. And when Moncada, Anderson improve it's against the best talent now.
-
Both had their struggles. They'll both be fine. I was not confident with Tim at the beginning of the year
