  1. Rahimi is great. Looking forward to this.
  2. Thank God Soxtalk is back. So ready for Baseball! Thanks for your hard work putting this back together, guys!
  3. Well, I was wrong, the new Score shakeup is...interesting. Love Danny Mac and prefer Bernstein middays. He and Goff could get pretty toxic. Danny Parkins does a great job, too.
  4. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 08:34 AM) But we shouldn't listen to a medical professional? Team physicians, sure. I like ptac, but Burger isn't his patient. My partner is a physician, but doesn't provide a great deal of insight for a subject that isn't a patient. I think many of us draw comparisons to Schwarber for obvious reasons. Trust ptac. he's a good guy. We're just talking baseball here given what we have seen in the past. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 08:44 AM) You’d think ptac wasn’t the only medical professional on this board based on some of these posts. I actually feel pretty good about Burger’s outlook after reading ptac’s comments. And I personally don’t see Burger as the long-term 3B for the Sox, as I figured they’d fill the spot before he ever made the show, so this setback is less of an issue to me. I think he’s ultimately a trade chip and this injury shouldn’t impact his value too much assuming a full recovery. Odds are ptac is not that only medical professional on this board. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 09:46 AM) For real. TBH, no one else's comments really matter on this outside of the actual professional that we have here, and what the team has to say about it. Everything else is just internet speculation. Is ptac a team doctor? I'm actually serious.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 07:41 AM) Apparently, once you're injured you will become a DH. If Dick's assertion is that Jake Burger can no longer play third is true, he's a DH or first baseman. Honestly, the White Sox don't need that.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 04:30 PM) I can also mention that "embracing" the Bulls tank has translated into a loss of about 1000 fans per game, or a 5ish% drop in attendance. They are drawing their lowest attendance since 2005. They are also in danger of losing their attendance crown for the first time in about a decade. So you're telling me the team has to be this bad for attendance to drop? Wow. They could be an 8-10 seed in the east and shoot back up in attendance again. Good choice by the FO to rebuild.
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 06:10 PM) Same reason Schwarber will never be a catcher (even part time) after his ACL. The margin for error athleticism wise was razor thin. He's going to come back less agile, and he'll have missed a critical 9-15 months of reps. Modern medicine and rehab is a miracle but a ruptured achilles is still a ruptured achilles. He may never regain the athletic timing needed to play 3B. Or hit for that matter. I'm pretty cynical here I'll admit. Everyone was aware Schwarber was never a catcher. Even before his injury, he was a terrible catcher. Burger had DH written all over him. I'm happy with the rebuild so far, but I wouldn't have drafted him.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 11:14 AM) There would be zero reason to watch. Except it's the f***ing NCAA tournament and a field of 64 is narrowed down to 16 in four days. The tournament is an event. No one GAF about if Duke is in the first round in particular. They just want to see tons of games with upsets. The NCAA should throw the book at UNC. It feels like they can't go 12 months without breaking an NCAA rule.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 09:21 PM) It looks like Jimmy Butler just tore his ACL. Time to put to bed the rumor that Thibodeau can lead a team to a championship. This happens when you overuse your starters. More court time means more fatigue and more exposure to potential injury.
  10. I'm enamored with the Audi S4 and RS3. I wish I had more discretionary funds.
  11. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 03:23 PM) This sounds like postering by Boras Heyman is a well known Boras mouthpiece. Boras doesn't want Arrieta to end up with less then Darvish. Well, I have some bad news for him. P&C report this week.
  12. Terry Boers tweeted on this. He doubts the Rays will be able to secure the money
  13. I really do miss the Chicago Auto Show. The Austin one is like a middle school science fair by comparison.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 10:07 PM) Unless it’s with the Pats, and consequently, that’s the only job he’ll want True, but a lot can happen, of course.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 10:42 PM) Looks like the Hawks are gonna be in the lottery this year (which honestly might be the best thing for this franchise). 4.5% odds of the #1 pick and rising. Time to move on from Q? He's not exactly the guy I would want rebuilding. Of course, the Blackhawks don't exactly have the situation to rebuild
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 09:37 PM) Well, McDaniels just got released by his agent, so its not just the Colts who are miffed. Well, McDaniels will probably never be considered for an opening again.
  17. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 11:25 AM) Blackhawks south crumbling before our very eyes. Sad... So is OG Blackhawks. I know he's not great, but Stephen Johns would fit in Chicago.
  18. I appreciate what Tesla has done, but I agree with much of this article. They're not particularly innovative and the posts I have seen here seem to echo the sentiment that Tesla does not hold up in terms of overall quality. Opinion: Tesla’s technology doesn’t live up to the hype — and that could hammer the stock price
  19. Who can they trade other than Kane? All the other contracts are pretty bad
  20. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Feb 7, 2018 -> 02:54 PM) Another year "Mired In Mediocrity". Wait Til Next Year!!!! Give me directional "mired in mediocrity" over "faux reload" or "TWTW" any day.
  21. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Feb 7, 2018 -> 04:49 PM) Higher than Bernstein and Goff? Yes. Turns out fans prefer a show with no balls. However, the Score still owns Chicago sports ratings. Might have something to do with ESPN still using the awful Golic & Wingo program across the board on all their local affiliates. Mully and Hanley trounced Mike and Mike in Chicago and will continue to do so with G&W.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2018 -> 09:06 AM) The LeBron>MJ crowd is pretty quiet now. Lot of miles and a colossally bad trade sending Kyrie away.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 02:22 PM) This is pretty typical but as a fan I get so frustrated by NBA protections. In other sports, it seems like protections would go down as time goes on. You get player now, but if they don't work out like expected you can keep pick, but eventually I get the pick. In the NBA it's like I get to keep pick if we lose too much, but also next year if we lose slightly less, but also the year after that if we lose the same amount, and if we never fit in that window...well deals off. Oh I mean I will have gotten the value from you, but sorry, you get nothing. Or at the very least I would just demand "if pick is still in top 10 by 2020, then Chicago has right to swap picks, if no swap, THEN 2 second rounders" Just stupid imo. Even then, 2 second rounders is not as good as any first
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 02:27 PM) the replies on Ken Rosenthals tweet about this are so stupid. PEOPLE SHOULDNT BE ON THEIR PHONES THEN THEY WOULD BE FINE. Come on now, little kids have been hit by foul balls and bats, and it has had nothing to do with a phone. Right. Phones are a cop-out. Unless the MLB is going to ban vendors (one could easily get hit by a ball while paying for beer), they were always going to put nets in. There are just too many distractions.
