  1. Not a lot to do with him. Let him play. This team isn't ready to compete and he can't really be worth any less at this point.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 10, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) Have you seen his numbers? He basically has. Cubs need to minimize Zobrist's at-bats. That just isn't good.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) So you would like to see Moncada stay in the minors for about 700 more AB's? This board would go into full meltdown
  4. Cubs need big help. So many underperformers. Although, Dexter Fowler has been terrible, also.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 8, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) Yeah I think they should probably play the hot hand and go with Jon Jay (.437 obp) at leadoff spot. Definitely. They badly miss Dexter Fowler
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 8, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) For a leadoff hitter, you look at OBP which is still low at .321. You cross the two. The fact is, if he were hitting, he'd make sense as a leadoff man with his OBP so much higher than his batting average. That being said, if he's hitting, you want him in a position to drive in runs and the leadoff spot isn't it. This is one of those Maddonisms that just isn't working.
  7. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 6, 2017 -> 05:41 PM) Only one division in baseball with 4 out 5 teams above .500.......the toughest division in the game top to bottom is the AL Central. Good. I don't want any delusions of grandeur.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 8, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) Also, keep in mind that brett isn't interested in discussion. He just likes to troll.
  9. People are so stupid. Here's what happens if you don't provide the poor with insurance. A poor, uninsured person gets a cut and can't afford to go to a physician (no health care). The cut becomes infected, but the uninsured person can't do anything about it because an infected cut is that much more expensive to treat than a regular cut. The untreated infection becomes septic shock. Guess what happens? The patient goes to the ER with a life threatening emergency and EMTALA requires the hospital to treat this person. Who pays when this happens? At a public hospital, we all do (including idiot Joe Walsh). So we could have helped the patient afford a tetanus shot but instead we're paying a boatload more for the treatment and hospital stay for a person on the brink of dying.
  10. QUOTE (brett05 @ May 8, 2017 -> 08:05 AM) So still at safe levels. Good to know. "Safe" if you can live with the collateral damage.
  11. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 7, 2017 -> 02:06 PM) Sale looks like the best pitcher in baseball and Moncada is hitting .350 with walks and power. There's a *long* way to go, but this trade looks like a win-win for both sides right now. Agreed. Even if you're not a rebuild guy, the fact that the Sox still have Q and a solid pitching coach with a long history of building strong pitching staffs should be enough for this trade to go through.
  12. Cutler going to be in a three man booth at Fox. This could be good for him. He'll be on ESPN 1000 at 3PM
  13. I want to trade him, but yeah, this post is silly.
  14. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 3, 2017 -> 09:23 PM) Paxson has been here for 14 years, Gar was hired around Tim Floyd Era but came into power in 2007/2008ish. If anyone thinks the Bulls will eventually get it right while Jerry (and now especially Michael who is best friends with Gar) is running the team, they're out of their damn mind. I give Paxson credit for when he was GM. He rebuilt the franchise when it was bargain basement and fired all the right people and built this thing in the mid 2000s. That was a decade plus ago. The Derrick Rose pick (which was pure luck) caused us to tolerate the current regime for longer, but Derrick's fall, the tension between Thibs and the FO, and the subsequent failure of Fred Hoiberg has doomed this organization. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 4, 2017 -> 07:58 AM) Paxson took over as GM in 2003. He has hired 5 coaches and they have won 5 playoff series. They've actually only won 5 playoff series since 98. Their drafting has also fallen off the cliff since Matt Lloyd left the organization. The Bulls have fewer scouts than most teams and a semblance of an analytics department. Paxson basically took the reigns back yesterday and I'd rather have him in power than Gar but it's still just meh. I do think there's a solid chance that Pax trades Butler at the draft though and restarts the franchise. Agreed on this. Paxson was a solid GM for some time. Problem is he doesn't want to do it anymore and his responses to yesterday's press conference indicate that he really has no idea what the modern NBA is.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Call up a Golden State fan and find out. Ain't that the truth? QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 3, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) No need to do that. Just marvel at the current NBA as a whole for the time being. We're about 5-6 weeks away from what is shaping up to be the greatest nba finals of all-time. The Bulls, at some point, will get with the times. Can't be this inept forever. Ugh, I don't know, man. The fact that those two guys are still in charge is infuriating. I have been a Paxson defender in the past, but this is all too much for me.
  16. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 3, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Appendices are directly correlated to TWTW. Probably ptac can confirm. Grammar victory
  17. What is the process for changing fanbases? Is it complicated?
  18. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ May 3, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) ESPN takes the most fees per cable subscriber...more than HBO, Showtime, etc. $7 per subscriber. That's a TON! My guess is the cable companies are starting to squeeze them a bit. Just an FYI. I wonder how much an ESPN streaming service could net.
  19. This organization is so bad. I can't cheer for this anymore. It's heartbreaking
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 3, 2017 -> 03:00 AM) This could possibly be the worst thread in Soxtalk history At least the title was a fact. Otherwise, it would be the worst post I have ever seen
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ May 2, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) Also there was one original article that had the "felt like he was cheated on" line, and now 1000 articles all saying "Glennon felt cheated on, bears are so stupid" that are just based off of the original article. Kind of amplifying something dumb. Agreed. It's quite the echo chamber. Add to that people are writing stories about Pace getting swindled and you get a very Bears heavy draft cycle. It's a little ridiculous, though IMHO
  22. QUOTE (aryzner @ May 1, 2017 -> 09:39 PM) Give it time. The bullpen started the year lights out last season as well. I have faith that this team will start to suck at a high level soon. Even with the team overperforming as it is, we're not that far above .500 and we're just leading the Wild Card race. I'm as confident as ever that the rebuild will continue.
  23. QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 1, 2017 -> 10:27 PM) Makes you wonder. Its his last year and nobody cares. Its possible he feels a little jaded and I can't say I blame him. Now that might not be the case but he does sound different this year. I will be sad when hes done even though im ready to move on. I hope he gets the farewell he deserves. Guy made me a Sox fan when he was with Wimpy. I get the feeling he'll be around next year on a further trimmed schedule.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 1, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) On one hand I understand why Glennon is mad, but on the other how could he look at his contract and not think that there was gonna be another quarterback drafted. He basically got a one year prove it deal He clearly saw it as a one year prove it contract when in reality it's a one year stopgap contract.
