  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 12:21 AM) Supposedly, Trubisky got booed at the Bulls game. If true, that is f***ing disgraceful. The Bulls as an organization are a disgrace, but their fans aren't much better (speaking as a Bulls fan) The Fire Hoiberg chant is ridiculous, too.
  2. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Ahhhhh...the ecstasy of WINNING! You can't beat it!! You can, actually. It's called the ecstasy of being a contender
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 11:04 PM) It's July 31st, 2017. The Chicago White Sox are 6 games over .500, 1.5 games behind the Cleveland Indians, and in 2nd place in the AL Central. Avisail Garcia is hitting .325, Matt Davidson has 18 home runs, Rodon has a sub-3 ERA, and the bullpen remains dominant. Yoan Moncada and Lucas Giolito have had strong showings since their early June call-ups. Nevertheless, the Sox swing trades for Dan Jennings, David Robertson, Melky Cabrera, Todd Frazier, and Nate Jones. -------------------------------------------------- Even though that was mostly sarcastic, I can actually see this team being pretty good and still selling, to the dismay of *some* fans. This team has been really good, but I still expect them to sell at the deadline.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 03:42 PM) I like how instead of actually looking at the facts, we just say "lots of QBs get drafted in the first round." As I pointed out, in Vick's draft only 1 QB was drafted, Brees went in the 2nd. In Peyton's draft class only 2 were picked (1/2). In Rodgers draft, only 3 went in the 1st. Last years draft 3 went. The idea that 5 QBs are getting picked in the first round every year is pretty unusual. Even in Luck's year (what was considered a deep class) only 4 were selected. I think right now Bears fans are talking themselves into Trubisky. Not saying that Trubisky may not turn out to be a HOF, just (imo) he wasnt even the best prospect in college last year. Unfortunately for the Bears those QBs arent available this year. 3 is the norm now. Sorry, but Vick and Manning's drafts are no longer "modern NFL"
  5. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) Also, if you're in a bidding war with the f***ing Cleveland Browns over a QB, given their amazing history of QBs drafted, you should probably realize you're looking at the wrong guy. This Browns FO didn't pick many of those QBs. The draft history is irrelevant. Plus, I completely understand Ryan Pace wanting a quarterback. He's a Saints guy, after all.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:46 AM) My exact thoughts. I really believe that Pace played himself. The other GMs made him sweat and he jumped at their "threat" to move up. Trubisky is not a world-beater and he certainly will not keep this team from 4-12 this upcoming season. Doesn't bother me. Third and fourth rounders are crapshoots. If you believe in a quarterback, go get him. That's a small price to pay.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) Is there a reason people don't like Trubisky? I thought he was the favored QB on here. I would have been terrified of Watson even if supportive of the "well he wins and he seems nice". People are worried about his lack of experience. He only grades out an 88/100 or something like that on most draft boards But then again, Dak Prescott didn't grade out an 88/100 and every team would redraft him in the first round.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) The story is that the 49ers had another trade offer on the table. Sounds like the Texans, Chiefs, and Browns wanted to move to 3 or 2 to grab Trubisky. Pace took calls from all three, which much have keyed him into the idea that they were also trying to get 2.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 08:19 AM) Possibly. Probably not a good idea though unless Melky and Frazier is still here past July. Right. Taken in context, though, the Cubs are paying the reigning MVP just north of 1 million USD
  10. Watson saw better defenses in college than he'll see in the AFC South
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:37 PM) You guys complain every year that they don't address the Qb position. They finally make a shrewd move to get one because if they didn't it's likely someone else was entertaining a trade with San Fran to get Trubisky, the guy Pace identifies as "the guy" and you all lose ur s*** over a couple third rounders. It's a horrible reach. The Bears are a terrible organization
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) Zobrist looks like he is being moved into a bench role with the team. Must be nice to be able to afford a ~$15 million bench bat lol We could do the same thing.
  13. Somehow the Bears are going to screw this up at 3. I hope they go with Adams
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 06:43 PM) Brogacci (sp?) next with Tilmon to follow? That would be unreal. Probably also unlikely
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) don't listen to 670 much anymore but figured with the draft coming up I would tune in to see their view on the what the Bears might do. As soon as I tuned in i heard Bernstein say, "the NFL continues Red Square style military flyovers." Really? Usually 1 or 2 aircraft flying over a stadium wreaks of communism? good thing I tuned in there to remind me why I don't listen. It wreaks of authoritarianism. Remember, those planes own you. I appreciate the military, but a bought and paid for demonstration of military might is kind of silly, IMHO.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) I don't watch unless there is a game on. I'd rather watch NFL, MLB, or NBA Networks. You had a good day then. Some of these guys will be on those networks almost immediately.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) Danny Kanell out as radio host. Didn't much care for him on air, but he seems like a decent guy
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) Wow what a day for a network that was once considered the giants of sports coverage. Maybe they still are? They have clearly prioritized uninformed people yelling at each other over real sports journalism.
  19. Jayson Stark was let go. That's surprising to say the least.
  20. Richard Deitsch reporting College people will be included in the layoffs. That's going to hit a huge portion of their audience.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) Karl Ravech going to have a significantly reduced role. Storm and Russilo are in the same boat. Ravech is the man...nostalgia from when BBTN was the best darn show on tv. At least RR is scaled back. He's a complete airhead. Sucks for some of these NHL and Soccer writers but most of them appear to have known it was coming. It's too bad ESPN's audience and corporate structure have decided nonsense yelling debate is more valuable than real sports journalism.
  22. Hannah Storm gone, too QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 09:07 AM) Werent people talking about Mike and Mike being canned a while back? I know they have still been the air since its been mentioned in here but maybe now is the time. Golic was the one people were unsure about, but ESPN re-signed him in April. Both have admitted that Mike and Mike is ending and lament the fact that they couldn't announce it on air. A Running List of ESPN Layoffs (Deadspin)
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) Layoff day at ESPN, over 100 employees to lose their jobs including significant on air personalities First one i have seen confirmed is Ed Werder That's surprising. I thought I read somewhere it was May 1. That sucks. Glad they're sparing most of the behind the scenes staff, though. These talent guys will all have jobs elsewhere.
  24. Saw "A Perfect Circle". Amazing.
