I don't dispute Chicago being massively bigger, and you can count whatever you want in that, but if a team was making the case to move out of there - Chicago already has a team that is much more liked by the city as a whole. There is a decent case that Chicago's market is well served by the better franchise and that the second team could grow the sport's fanbase as a whole if it moved elsewhere. If a different city put up a serious stadium offer, it's going to be considered.

I don't know how true this is. The Cubs are more nationally popular but the White Sox are much more popular in the Cook County working class.

If anything, the White Sox are more culturally significant to their part of the city than the Cubs are to any one part of Chicago.

Voted C, like the small trades, but doubling down on his failed acquisitions (Moncada, Eloy), not landing a haul for Cease, and being delusional by thinking they will be competitive next year is just terrible.

I get the impression the offer just wasn't there.

The only way Hahn gets an F is dumping a guy like Cease for a bad haul. C for me.

And we will all celebrate the team changing hands.  But until that point, replacing Hahn with Getz is just more of the same.  I would welcome it, but it does nothing to alter expectations.

Agreed. I'm solidly in "why bother?" mode.

Both teams are ingrained in me too.  I can however control how much emotional energy I waste on them.  Both franchises desperately need change at the very top, and I simply can’t expect anything but the same half-assed BS until that happens.  I’m still a diehard, but the jadedness runs deep.  It will take a lot for me to ever truly believe on them again.

Agreed 100%. I moved to Texas 12 years ago and I honestly can't root for anyone else. Baseball is done for me when the White Sox are out.

    2013 Hahn starts

2023 KW and Hahn both depart... ten years is more than enough evidence accumulating to make significant changes.

A decade of all Sox fan lives is a pretty precious commodity that's being taken for granted.

This makes sense to me, however Jerry is in his 80s, not his 60s, and the White Sox are his play thing, not the family business.

If the family has no interest in the White Sox, don't expect anything to happen while the old man is in charge.

  6. Hahn's probably a decent guy and he's great at negotiating contracts, but this isn't working and we need a culture change.

    Won't happen under Jerry.

We give Hahn a lot of crap, but let's not forget Kenny Williams has been a waste of space just as long. Glad he won a World Series but we have been paying for it with his incompetence for the last 18 years.

Jake "the Royal with cheese" Burger. Too bad Chris Berman is old now.

    I prefer

    Jake "Big Kahuna" Burger

    Because

    1) That's the burger in that scene

    2) It's just a badass nickname
