  1. Did you like the Dunn signing? Probably. Cabrera signing? Probably. Robertson signing? Probably. Samardzija trade? Probably. Unless you’re Boston, LA, or NYY, you have to rebuild to win. I can even make an argument that those teams are so successful because of their youth or the great youth they dealt to acquire vets. We’ve been over this. Imagine a farm so great that they can afford to trade this #4 pick, or Dunning, or Gonzalez, etc in 1-2 years to acquire a big FA at the deadline to seal their championship fate, ala Torres for Chapman.
  2. 5 years ago, the Cubs were a laughing stock. 5 years ago, the Astros were a laughing stock.
  3. You really think the ONLY reason to keep him in the minors is because playing for this team could effect him mentally? That’s the ONLY reason?
  4. Yeah, finishing with mid-late round picks was really helpful all these years.
  5. Then why do you cheer for said franchise?
  6. Posting "facts" about projections from 538, Pecota, Vegas, and Fangraphs is definitely "excellent." Those guys play the games, that's for sure.
  7. RT @matthoeppner: Over his last 33 games Zack Collins has a slash line of .348/.510/.580 #WhiteSox
  8. Concentration. That’s it. That is IT! These guys don’t all mostly suck, it’s that they’re good but their concentration is lacking. Problem = solved.
  9. Moncada is now 15 for his last 72. When Anderson was 10 for his last 63, or whatever it was, he got a day off. Time for a break for Moncada.
  10. Don’t know if you’re being sarcastic, but in the major leagues, these managers, catchers and pitchers watch a ton of tape which show tendencies, weaknesses & strengths. Typically teams have a binder in the dugout which show these things which in turn is what the manager relays. Of course when you have a staff like this, it doesn’t matter.
  11. Not sure I’ve ever seen a worse outfielder for the Sox, defensively. Either put him at DH or stick his ass on waivers.
  12. He is relaying either the pitch he wants thrown, location he wants the pitch to go, or both. When the Sox are hitting, he’s relaying if he wants the Sox to bunt, take a pitch, steal a base, etc. He relays that to the catcher (when pitching) or third base coach (when hitting).
  13. Yeah, I'm not going to act like an MLB draft expert, but if Madrigal is a consistent .310 hitter with 10-12 homers a year (which is pretty attainable at GRF) + solid D, he's an extremely useful piece and I'm not sure why the discussion is even being had. It's a very safe pick, but he seems to be the safest pick in a few drafts. At the worst, he tears up the minor leagues and becomes a big trade chip in a deal for a veteran in 2020-2021.
  14. Moncada was 13 for his last 68. He's now 2 for his last 2. Watch out.
  15. Saladino likely headed to the DL. On crutches today after a gruesome looking ankle injury.
  16. Hoping for an Orioles win (unlikely as they are playing the Nats) and a Sox loss (by a score of 2-1 with Anderson and Moncada each getting 2 hits)
  17. a) Their bullpen has been very good. b) Fry has been next to unhittable, so any team would love to have him. Plus he's a LHP. c) While Jones has been somewhat inconsistent, every contender would love a relief pitcher that can throw 98-100 mph.
  18. The Sox traded Cabrera to KC last July, so unless Cleveland has a problem trading within the division, I doubt being in the same division halts any trades, at least on the Sox end.
  19. If @greg775 argues about statniks, rebuilds and player ages and nobody cares, does it really happen?
  20. Assuming they lose today, they'll- 2 months into the year- still be on pace to win 47-48 games. If that doesn't get them to the #1 pick, it'll be a really bad year for the MLB.
  21. *in comes Greg to discuss how "young" that "young" truly is*
