  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 03:33 PM) Headed to San Diego & Anaheim/LA next month. Haven't been to San Diego but have heard great things, if anyone has suggestions for what to do in the evenings beside a baseball game let me know! 710 Beach Club (in SD) is a Chicago sports bar
  2. When Robert’s healthy, where is he going to start? A or AA?
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 07:32 PM) Dash making a late game comeback. Just scored four runs off homers from Booker, Basabe, & Micker and a Rutherford deep 2B. All three homers were f***ing bombs. Basabe has had a HUGE start to 2018
  4. Kopech beautifully gets out of a messy 5th after WBS had the first two batters reach on weak hits
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 06:56 PM) Kopech's changeup is not good It moves too much, if that’s a thing. Good speed difference, good movement, it’s just not a strike as much as it has to be
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 14, 2018 -> 11:51 AM) I have always been an advocate of trading down pretty much regardless of draft selection, but if Nelson is there at 8, I think he is worth the pick. I have never seen a player with such unanimous praise. Aaron Curry, Chance Warmack, Robert Gallery and Andrew Luck were all “future HOF’ers”
  7. They won’t play tomorrow either
  8. What’d you think of the Grand Canyon? I may be going this fall/winter
  9. I know there was one in 2017. Where's this years?! Anyway, I'm going to Bermuda in July. Anyone been?
  10. QUOTE (insiderinfo @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 12:48 PM) no, But i remember soxmainia06. he was a real character! So what is this, then?
  11. Money has a way of changing players' minds, but he's already said he wants to play against Dallas twice next year. Good luck in Philly, Dez!
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan2003 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 12:31 PM) Would they ever consider moving it to the Vikings stadium? For divisional April games? I doubt it.
  13. Fun fact: the players used to call Uribe "Juanaconda" because he had the biggest penis on the team I'm not kidding
  14. but it was a damn good post
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 11:50 AM) They wouldn't have to get rid of them. They just wouldn't be able to sign them all long-term. You'd have 3 years of Bryant, Rizzo, Contreras and Harper in the same lineup. I'd rather have Contreras, Rizzo and Bryant for 10 more years than those four for 3 years then to have only Bryant and Harper. IMO, Contreras is their MVP.
  16. This is like someone posted this when Uribe was playing, their computer went down, and as soon as it got rebooted all this time later, it finally posted.
  17. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 11:33 AM) Harper- Cubs Machado- Red Sox Donaldson- Nationals I just don't see Harper going to the Cubs. If they did they'd have to get rid of one of Bryant, Rizzo or Contreras, otherwise I'm not sure how they could have four $25M+ contracts.
  18. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 10:49 AM) I'm curious as to what hill you think you're dying on here? What are you seeking out here? Everyone to say "MONCADA IS FAILING! WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?!?" What do you want here? Oh for f***s sake, get off of your high horse. No one wants you to say anything, with the exception of not completely ripping apart everyone who thinks he's struggling. We know he's your native son who's going to bring the Sox back to relevancy, but at the moment, he is struggling. That's all I'm trying to say. As for the people who are saying he'll fall in line with the majority of guys who struggle in that he'll struggle forever, I'm NOT saying that. They are. Redirect your anger their way.
  19. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 10:47 AM) I wonder if Brian Dozier has the arm for 3rd base. Probably not. Arenado does, and he'll be a UFA in 2020.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 10:15 AM) I've noticed that whenever I bring numbers into this, you tend to ignore them. It's entirely possible for someone to be a positive impact player with a high strikeout rate. Last year, that would apply to Moncada. This year, with the .80 discrepancy between his wOBA and his xwOBA, it should happen again. Maybe direct those numbers to the people who agreed with you a week ago, because those same people are starting to change their minds. I don't really care about exit velocity if you're barely making contact, because at that K rate, he'll be middle of the pack soon. If you don't think he's struggling, why did Renteria say he was last night? Why were Abreu and Garcia seen talking to him? Don't they know about exit velocity? As much as I'd like to say no one is saying he sucks and will never be successful, it seems like some people are saying that. I'm not one of them. I'm strictly pointing out that he has been underwhelming NOW and is struggling NOW.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 09:46 AM) Taylor Gabriel has never topped 37 receptions or 629 yards in a season. Pretty scary to think we’re screwed without that guy, but you’re right since Kevin White & Josh Bellamy are next on the depth chart. But hey, we got a bunch of unproven TEs and a 5-6 RB to save the day. And I’m optimistic about Burton, but you seem to have a lot more faith than me that he’s the second coming of Travis Kelce. I hope you’re right, but it still doesn’t seem like a risk worth taking when we’re flush with cap space and could have retained Meredith for $3M. He was playing with Browns QB's and then got behind Sanu & Jones on the Falcons' depth chart. Nagy's offense revolves heavily around speed, and Gabriel is in the top 10 fastest guys in football. Do I think he'll be AWESOME? No, but yes, the Bears would be screwed without their #2 receiver, I'll bet. No one is saying Burton will be the second coming of Kelce, but I do think he's going to get as many targets as Kelce did last year. What he does with them is another story. They'll likely use a 2nd or 4th round pick on a receiver or pick up Inman, giving Trubisky plenty of weapons.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 09:34 AM) Yeah so the teams you mentioned all have the benefit of having actual established players and established production from their passing offense, which with the exception of Robinson (coming off an ACL), the Bears don't have, which is why passing up on depth in a year you are trying to establish a productive offense is dumb especially for 3 million. Trey burton is a 3rd string TE they really think will be good but has not done anything. Gabriel was waived 2 years ago and was a 3rd WR. Allen Robinson is good but coming off an injury. Shaheen caught less than 10 passes. Penciling all of that in and saying "wow versatility" is speculation at this point. And those other team mentions have much less other team needs than the Bears, who now may need to use draft capital toward a WR. And you're assuming Meredith, who admitted himself "I'm not sure" as to when he'll be ready on Wedneday night on Waddle and Silvy & who will also at the very least miss the entire offseason of installing a new offense, would have provided that filler for the speculation.
  23. Anybody thinking about making the relatively short drive to Cincinnati for the series over 7/4? My dad and I went in 2009. Aside from the extreme heat, the park is awesome. Not much going on in the city, but those should be some winnable games.
