  1. QUOTE (RegionSox @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) It sounds like it only frees up a little cap space too. I really don't understand this trade. It frees up around $3 million. The part I don't get is that now Daley replaces Oduya, but I'm starting to believe Garbutt replaces Kruger. They're similar players but Garbutt is older.
  2. Ok, this one is a bit baffling. Trade Sharp AND Johns and all you get is Garbutt and Daley?
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) I thought the Blues made out OK in the deal, Brouwer is no slouch Brouwer and Oshie are both overpaid and both aren't very good. Oshie's had 1 20+ goal season and 1 60+ point season. Brouwer usually ends the season with 40-50 points. Whatever.
  4. LDF- for help on costs for RFA offer sheets, see Craig Custance's tweet about 10 minutes ago.
  5. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) Sharp - Toews - Hossa Dano - Anisimov - Kane Panarin - Tuevo - Morin Shaw - Kruger - ? (Dejardins maybe) I really hope Morin is not a 3rd line player for the Hawks next season.
  6. In what world is Saad worth 6.5 a year? He's 22 and had 53 points last season. If he wants 6.5, that's more than Keith & Hjalmarsson. Columbus can give that to him, but I'm happy the Hawks didn't. Bowman knew he wasn't going to be back. Instead of appreciating they got a good prospect back (Dano) and a servicable C (Anisimov) back, we're complaining. What would be said had he left for nothing? In 2013, everyone thought Bickell had to be kept. Bowman did it. Now, everyone's pissed that Bickell hasn't been dealt yet and that Saad is gone, with some of the reason being Bickell's contract. This team has 3 cups in 6 years. After they lost Ladd, Byfuglien and Eager, we all thought they'd never win again. Relax. Panarin's the real deal and Teuvo is going to be a 65+ pps guy. Oh, & Kane and Toews are 27.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) If this is a two way deal like that, it is a very good contract. Seabrook came with more expectations than Rundblad as IIRC, Seabrook was the 14th overall pick in his class, but Seabrook was brutal through his first 2-3 seasons. Like, really bad. Rundblad likely won't get 2-3 years to prove himself, but I think with time he can be a solid #5 or #6 D. We'll have to get used to these deals now with Kane & Toews' deals kicking in. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) I'd still sign him. There are plenty of Hawks that dabble in the nose candy. Care to share? QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) Cocaine is a hell of a drug. Solid contribution to the thread. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) Do we really want that guy around Kane? LOL Are we talking about Richards or Stoll? Stoll was the one caught with the drugs.
  8. I used to go on Sox road trips all the time. Cincy, KC, Pittsburgh, etc. It just isn't fun for me anymore. Working in hotels, I can get those with a discount or sometimes complimentary but gas is expensive and most teams' tickets are pricey. If I'm going to get 3-4 days off of work and spend $400+ I'd rather go somewhere nice and relax. Plus, aside from Sale and Abreu, they really have nobody exciting to play, and when you plan these, you have no idea if you'll even see Sale pitch. If I started going on them again, I probably would pick Seattle, Anaheim, or Boston & would never go to St Louis. I've been twice, and the city is a dump. Fried ravioli is garbage and the Arch isn't even a monument. The Mississippi River is brown and the people wear jorts. /endrant
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) He can go play in Europe, sad is a young kid with cancer not some guy not playing in the NBA. No one said him not playing in the NBA is sad. Their point is that not only did he not get drafted but people are actually happy about it.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 07:38 AM) Nope. They traded Friday's pick for three game winning goals in the final two rounds of the playoffs. Good deal. I think he meant trades...
  11. I'm pretty surprised they didn't make ONE trade during the draft. I thought they'd definitely trade at least one of the following- Versteeg, Sharp, Bickell- for an extra pick or two since they didn't have a 1st.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) Bruins trade Dougie Hamilton to Calgary for the 15th overall pick and two second rounders. Wow, between Boychuck, Seguin, and now Hamilton, they have traded a lot of talent away. And Kessel.
  13. Next time you say "hmm I don't think they'll get much in return for Sharp," consider that Buffalo just traded the 21st overall pick for David Legwand and Robin Lehner. Lehner never developed into a good player and Legwand is a dinosaur. Buffalo needs every pick they can for their rebuild. Ugh. We are all so lucky to be fans of the Hawks and to have a FO with a clue.
  14. Lebrun went on a Canadian radio show and said he thinks Sharp will ultimately go to Washington. I'd gladly take Kuznetsov off of their hands.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) wow, nice info there. i did not see your response and you are right, many thanks. ref sharp and expected rtn..... honestly do you think the hawks will get that kind of haul??? i really mean no disrespect,i just don't know. ref Trocheck... not me. i don't think it is a fair rtn. btw, you should post more.... you seem to know a lot. this site, soxtalk need more great poster like you. I think it's a fair return. You have to remember that teams know that the Hawks are in cap hell. They know that the Hawks will essentially do anything to get rid of Sharp, despite not showing that hand now. They will end up waiting it out and realizing that no one team will take Sharp while giving up a lot. He's not the player he used to be. Even when he was a good player, he was nowhere worth 5.9 million annually, which is what he's due to get the next 2 seasons.
  16. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 05:13 PM) I think you need to check your history. I don't mean that to be rude, but this is just flat out wrong. By the way, hockeybuzz is pretty good. I think he meant Barker, not Campbell, in terms of going #3 and was supposed to be great. Hockeybuzz is run by Eklund who is garbage. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) Try General Fanager or nhlnumbers.com QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:13 AM) Sharpie, the writing is in the sky. this yr salary maneuvering will need to be very creative and on the dime. i wish he would have retired as a blackhawks but oh well, the team needs to go forward. now come the rtn, sharp and his 5.0 + mil contract, for 2 yrs more. i wonder what the hawks would accept? I read today the Hawks want a 1st OR 2nd and an A prospect OR a young guy who has NHL experience with a chance to be a big contributor. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) Maybe Oilers or Rangers as well. Sad to see Sharp go. I know it has to happen, but he was here from the start of this rebuild. I don't think the Hawks trade him inside the West unless they're blown away by Edmonton's offer. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) There's a hockey board called HFBoards. Similar to this site but for all teams. A lot of people think Sharp to Florida for Trochek and a 2nd is the most logical fit. This would be fine by me. Trocheck last year in Florida had 22 points in 50 games. He has a chance to be a 3rd line C one day.
  17. Sharp is going to be dealt soon. Florida? Jackets? Islanders?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) I know defensemen aren't sexy, but we aren't even in the finals if it wasn't for Duncan Keith, let alone up 3 games to 2 in the finals. The guy is a machine. Hopefully people appreciate Duncan Keith, because there is no better defenseman in the game of hockey today. Doughty's pretty good.
  19. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) I think Hossa's played well. I credit TB for the job they're doing against Kane & Toews. Bickell's been his usual self (this year), and as for Keith, you can't count on your D-men for scoring, consider it a bonus. Patrick Sharp is the one who confounds me. I never said Keith has to score and Hossa has been bad. My point is that Kane is always ripped but there are so many high paid players that aren't scoring.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 05:35 AM) Kane playing this series? Is Toews? Sharp? Bickell? Hossa, Kane, Keith, Toews, Sharp & Bickell have 0 goals combined. You have to think one of those guys gets hot eventually.
  21. Is Smoltz drunk? Vasgersian just said Hawk had been out for 13 games, and Smoltz says "so what you're saying is... he gone!" Vasgersian then mentioned the Ford C Frick award and Smoltz seemed to have no clue what that is.
  22. Anyone doubting that Toews is the best player in the NHL?
