  1. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 04:47 PM) 31.5 mil owed the next two years(not including this years salary) 4-9 4.57 era, good luck to them trying to move him Cliff Lee is owed a bunch too. I was just throwing out a possible name. If Boston pays most of it, I could see it happening perhaps.
  2. I could see the Sox making a move for Beckett.
  3. Prospect to the Cubs for Malholm Prospect to the Diamondbacks for Putz That's it.
  4. His WHIP is a touch over 1.3 which isn't good, but his ERA is respectable and his control is really good. It'd be a good move, IMO.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) Kudos to Quintana for absolutely dominating some of the best offenses in baseball. He's a keeper. ^^^
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) This bullpen is terrible right now. Absolutely in shambles, as your two best relievers have been awful of late. The sad thing is this will cause Ventura to continue to overuse Peavy and Sale. If they need 110 pitches each to go 8 innings and give up 1 or 2 ER, I wouldn't even consider that overuse. If you mean 5 ER in 7 innings and 130 pitches, yes that's overuse.
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) Escobar left 2 guys on in the 9th and blew a DP.............he has no business taking a roster spot. I don't 100% agree with the last statement, but yes, he was pathetic today. Reed has to start that inning. Just because 50% of the first 4 hitters were LH doesn't mean they need a LHP against them. If they did, leave Quintana in. 103 pitches, 103 pitches, who cares? I hope Peavy brings it tomorrow.
  8. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) LOL, you are excited. More like pissed. Don't name him your closer if you don't trust him to get 2 lefties out.
  9. Nice throw, EE. GOD DAMNIT. That is why you keep Beckham unless you're getting Hamels or Greinke.
  10. This would be a horrible loss. If Reed is the closer, he's the closer. They put in Thornton just because the first and third hitters are lefties? Christ.
  11. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) They can't rely on these kids to win 1-0 games all of the time. Besides the loss in LA in June, when the last time they were up 1-0 in the 9th and lost?
  12. Is it just me, or has there been a lot of WP's and PB's the past 2-3 weeks?
  13. Quintana practically through that one through Shoppach's bat.
  14. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) Sox aren't hitting but Detroit is. Me no likey. The next 2 games will be 3-2/2-1/1-0 type games with Peavy and Verlander and then Sale and Porcello. Tigers 3-2 tomorrow. Sox 4-2 Saturday. Sox 8-7 Sunday.
  15. Dunn crushes one, dips*** Avila tries to turn a DP by dropping the weak pop out, ump calls him out, 2 outs and here's PK.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Here comes a Ramirez HR. Or not, but I'll take a baserunner.
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 08:14 PM) They would have run if Pierre was in LF on Ross' hit. But Pierre would've already had 2 triples and it'd be 3-0 so Ross' RBI single wouldn't have meant anything.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:58 PM) Not going to be shocked if he isn't on the Sox in 2 weeks. Unless he's going to Milwaukee for Greinke or Philadelphia for Hamels, I'm not ready give up on his defense and stick Kuhn or Escobar at 2B for a playoff push for Francisco Liriano or some other #3 or 4 starter. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 08:02 PM) how bought beckham for barney lol yea like theyd do that Barney isn't much better than Beckham. His OPS is about 25 points higher, but Beckham's better defensively. Toss up.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:23 PM) And the cycle begins anew. Well, I know it's "because Juan Pierre is better than Viciedo" according to Marty, but I meant, if KW called those two teams and they asked for Viciedo, I'd hope he didn't share Marty's opinion and would hang up the phone.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) Trayce Thompson has 17 homers this year. Why have I seen some posters here say that they "haven't lost all hope for him just yet?" It seems like he's fulfilling that potential quite well right now. Am I missing something? Poor K/BB ratio? Never mind. I see his AVG and OBP are barely over .235 and .305, respectively. Oops.
  21. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) Quintana has a good mound presence Hawk is the biggest BS'er in baseball, but he's spot on when he talks about Quintana's poise and mound presence.
