  1. Trayce Thompson has 17 homers this year. Why have I seen some posters here say that they "haven't lost all hope for him just yet?" It seems like he's fulfilling that potential quite well right now. Am I missing something? Poor K/BB ratio?
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) It's going to take some deft GM'ing by KW and I keep going back and forth on what the best combination SP/RP would be. Right now, I'm thinking Liriano/Street and that's if they can get them w/o having to give up Viciedo. Probably not. What? Why the hell would the Sox give up Dayan Viciedo, their future 3 or 4 hitter, for Huston Street or Francisco Liriano? That would be idiotic.
  3. OZZIE GUILLEN IS A TERRIBLE F***ING MANAGER BUT HE'S RICH AND FUNNY AND WON A RING BUT HAS WON DIDDLY SQUAT SINCE BUT HE WON A F***ING WORLD SERIES SO HE'S COOL
  4. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) Marty is to DV, as greg is to Ozzie - completely incapable of discussing ANYthing else. Keep derailing threads, Marty. Fixed.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) Apparently he needs to buy a vowel. And then he can buy a scorecard to look up how to spell Boston's pitcher's last name correctly.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) 49ers - 4/1 Pats/Packers - 6/1 Broncos - 7/1 Bears - 8/1 Keep in mind of course that this means nothing. The Cowboys are 10/1 and I'd be shocked if they made the playoffs next year. The Bears are 22/1 at the Wynn. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) We should have won it last year, if it wasn't for Kyle Williams. If someone recovered the fumbles for the 49ers, nobody would care. If Alex Smith would've thrown for 1 more TD, nobody would care. You can't blame it on one guy if other players could've done more throughout the course of the game before the fumbles.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) Of all the things you people hate that Ozzie has said, why can't you embrace what he said today? “I am a true White Sox,” he said. “Put it this way, 21 years with the same organization. Nobody can say (bleep) about me in the White Sox organization. Nobody. I am a true White Sox. I spent more years with the White Sox than anybody out there. The White Sox will always be in my heart.” How can you guys/gals turn on this man? He bleeds White Sox red. I can turn on him because he can't even do his f***ing math right. That's why. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 01:58 AM) Let me try this one final time. Why do you folks despise our WS winning manager? Take out the "quitting on the team" and actions of his "kids" and you tell me what he's done so badly that makes you hate him. Don't forget this is a franchise with other villains like unlikeable Kenny Williams and the save-my-own-back-man, Mr. Cooper. Take out the "winning a championship" thing and tell me why you love him so much. Oh, right, that wouldn't make sense, right? You can't just "take stuff out" if it happened.
  8. QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Another insurance run too much to ask? Yes
  9. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Ill take a Peavy-Grienke-Sale-Q-Humber/Danks rotation over hit or miss Floyd in the rotation. I don't know if that's your order if they made it to the playoffs or just their rotation in no order, but Sale is their starter in game 1 of the postseason, no doubt. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) Phil Rodgers thinks the Brewers want Floyd for Grienke. That still makes them a short a starter. Phil Rodgers sucks.
  10. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Septimo should've been in. Said by no one in the world except you.
  11. As someone who hasn't heard much about Hernandez, can someone tell me the stuff he has?
  12. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) you mean a guy like Nate jones? No, he means get a pitcher from another team who can get the Sox bullpen help and who throws righty.
  13. Well thought out argument? When I have one of those, you pretty much say "Well, I love Ozzie, so..." and when I don't to try to simplify things for you, you say "Good one!"
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) Not a bad post except for your last point. Did you see the one guy is now posting at the end of every game thread how the "Sox would have lost today under Ozzie, 7-3." People are out of control with their criticism of Ozzie. It's getting absurd and I just stand up for him. 1.) Ozzie's fault, plus KW, and the players as well. 2.) I disagree on that. We couldn't bunt under Ozzie and still can't bunt. What other poor fundamentals are you talking about? AJ still can't throw guys out. I guess we are hitting the cutoff man better. Kudos to Robin if that's his doing. 3.) My stance has always been it's on the players. Rios and Dunn have had bounceback years and Beckham has still been average at best offensively; supurb defensively. It's on those players, not Oz. Peavy as well; he still has the same pitching coach. Players are the ones who perform; not the managers. 4.) I don't really care about the Marlins' situation. I do know Bell has sucked. Shut out nine times? If that happened here, it'd be all on Walker by our rabid fans. 5.) Ozzie opened his mouth again. I have never minded Ozzie's ramblings; others hate it. We agree to disagree. As far as Castro, I personally don't approve of the bastard. Ozzie was being Ozzie He got burned this time. He has explained over and over what he meant. 1) Yes, Ozzie's fault. 2) They still can't bunt? I wouldn't go that far. 3) You think it's just "a bounceback year?" They are responding better to Ventura. They clearly didn't like that loudmouth a**hat Ozzie. 4) But you do care. If they were 7.5 games up, you'd say "see, he is a good manager." 5) Yeah, he's a f***ing moron.
  15. The 2 best ERA's in baseball come from Chicago- Dempster is #1 and Sale is #2. Sale has the better WHIP, however.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) Ugh. I don't even think the Sox wanted to keep Buehrle. They didn't seem too concerned about him leaving. Why call Mark something like that? I wish he was still in Chicago. Playing the lousy Cubs may turn Miami's season around. Is that series with Washington a wraparound 4 gamer? It's 1-2 vs. Wash over the weekend isn't it? Geez. You have it in for Ozz. I think you protest too much. The only thing I'm "protesting" is that your love for Ozzie goes too far. He's an average manager. So, in your mind, tell me who's fault you think these things are: 1) Making the playoffs one time from 2006-2011 after winning a championship 2) Having poor fundamentals as a team for many years during his tenure 3) Guys who sucked last year are very good this year (Rios, Dunn, Beckham [to an extent], Peavy [to an extent], etc) 4) The Marlins raising their payroll by millions and now are many games out (hint: you can't say Heath Bell if they've been shut out 9 times) 5) Fidel Castro comments Ok, go.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) I don't know if the Sox have this, but Royals had great fan promotion Friday night. One dollar hot dogs and small drinks. I think they do it every Friday during the summer. I'll take it. Delicious dogs. Guy I was with had four or five. I had 2. Nice to pay 2 bucks instead of 9 for 2 fricking hot dogs. I went to Kauffman in 2007 and 2008, and both times I really enjoyed their pretzels. Do they still have those? They were massive. Also, they weren't too expensive. Typically, pretzels are 4.50+ at stadiums. This one was 3.00, I believe, which is great considering it was also bigger than any other stadium's that I've seen.
  18. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) Ozzie had a dugout to dugout yelling match today in the 4th inning about pine tar on Bryce Harper's bat. I think Ozzie thought that Harper tried to show him up about it too, saying the kid was unprofessional. Always something. Know what's unprofessional? Continuing to be a clown with the media, showing disrespect to other teams, having his teams be underachievers under him, etc. Don't worry, it's Heath Bell's fault. The Sox have corrected pretty much everything that was a problem for them last year now under Ventura, and they all fall under one category: FUNDAMENTALS. Ozzie is a f***ing joke. Enjoy your warm climate and s***ty team, a**hole. Your team has been shutout 9 times this year. THAT'S HEATH BELL'S FAULT, DAMNIT.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) You mean you don't like the possibility of facing a healthy Red Sox lineup with Axelrod, Humber, Quintana and possibly someone like Leesman? Hopefully Floyd's ok and we the offense can carry the Sox. Lester, Dubront, Morales, and Cook all suck at home.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 11:26 AM) After than 459 foot homer? Yes, because it was only 451 feet.
  21. Cook's home ERA- 9+ Lester's home ERA- 5.8+ Doubront's home ERA- 5+ Morales' home ERA- 6+ f*** it, win 3/4.
  22. Garza is 4-7 for a losing team, but that's not too bad, but his 4.2+ ERA in the NL is alarming.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) 3.5 game lead! This team keeps going on long road trips and continues to gain ground. It's getting to be pretty amazing to watch. Win 4 of the next 7 and call it a roadtrip. Win 5 of the next 7 and be very excited.
