  1. Any chance the Sox scouts were in St. Louis today to scout Randy Choate? He'd be a nice situational LHP. Lefties are hitting .148 vs him and his WHIP vs lefties is 0.70. Also, he's only due about $500K the rest of the year and his contract is up after the season ends.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:51 PM) Watch them tie it and it goes 15 innings. That's fine. These relievers have 4 days off.
  3. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) Any time Dunn wants to swing at the first pitch fastball he gets EVERY time... When he does, he grounds foul past 1B.
  4. Yunel Escobar had so much promise with Atlanta, and man, he really blew it. He is such a lazy dope. Yesterday, he bobbled a ball to allow an infield single and another that didn't cost him, and today he just did that.
  5. Doan and Marleau? The Hawks need a C, not another winger.
  6. I'd throw Floyd vs Detroit and Boston. He's 7-1 combined lifetime in Fenway and Comerica.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) AJ and Peavy deserve it more than Dunn I could make an argument that Rios does, too.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) Adam Dunn vs. LHP............not good. More HR's vs LHP's this year than last already, but besides that, yes he's plain awful.
  9. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) That Youk is kinda good. I can't believe they gave up Lillibridge though. That was too much to give a hasbeen.
  10. QUOTE (Knoxville Sox @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) And all the talk is about Detroit. All the ESPN guys etc... are saying that Detroit will turn it around in the 2nd half. NOBODY is hardly talking about us at all. Ventura got the mid-season AL manager award from some of those guys on TV the other day, but still I like being the unknown and just quietly keep doing what we've done the past 2 weeks! Right, but the point is that we are all talking here like the Sox are down 11-0 and 4 games out. The rookies had a bad game today. They were due for one.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) I have no problem with them skipping Sale today, as long as he also skips the exhibition game on Tuesday. I understand he's going to be throwing anyway, but not at that level. If you're going to rest him, rest him. I guess all the talk that the name of the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back doesn't apply in this case. I'm just wondering why. Oh, I agree 100%. I'm just saying that although they are likely going to lose today, they're still 3 games up in 1st place. I would've bet anyone my house prior to the season that this would not have been the case.
  12. To put things into perspective a bit: -They just won 5 of their 6 before the ASB against the AL's best and a team that they always lose against. -They finally figured out how to win at home. -This was winnable with Sale on the mound, but him pitching in September is more important than today's game. -They can do no worse than being 3 full games in 1st place past the halfway mark.
  13. Why does Robin always bring in Jones with guys on base? Bringing him in with inherited runners is a horrible idea and the stats show it.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:14 PM) This is the type of crap that happens to most rookies and veterans named Ohman. That's why I hope some guys come back from injury and/or KW gets a veteran for the bullpen. Arthur Rhodes??
  15. Two straight useless outings for Septimo. Honestly, if Toronto continues the way they're playing, the Sox should make a play for Arthur Rhodes to be a situational LHP.
  16. I was at the game yesterday and it was disgusting outside. You couldn't give me row 1 behind the Sox dugout today.
  17. TRADING LILLIBRIDGE AND STEWART WAS TOO MUCH FOR YOUKILIS, DAMNIT.
  18. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:45 PM) I cant wait until Tyler Flowers is off this roster. A year ago, many thought he was Pierzynski's replacement. Now, not so much. He couldn't hit my changeup.
  19. Harrison and Quintana are rolling through this one. Texas goes 1-2-3 again.
  20. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) I think Quintana has impressed enough people already to guarantee himself a spot in next years rotation, no? Maybe our new #5? He's pitching like a #3.
