  1. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) ESPN America over here showing the Rangers feed, their commentators saying that based on what they've seen so far they can't believe Quintana hasn't been on a Major League roster. Considering how the Mets and Yankees both gave up on Quintana and also considering that he had a 100 batter walk-less streak, it is pretty amazing to think that those two franchises gave up on him.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) CSNCHICAGO/CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: The Blackhawks could look to Bouwmeester, but aren’t expected to get into the bidding for Nash or Ryan. They are rumored shopping defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson. They could also look toward free agency, where Semin and Doan are available, though there could be plenty of competition for their services. http://spectorshockey.net/blog/fallout-fro...gs-july-5-2012/ Semin or Bouwmeester do not make the Hawks a better team. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) Minnesota Wild = Miami Heat???? If anybody was gonna sign them both, I'd much rather it be Minnesota than Detroit. And if Minnesota ever gets relevant again, maybe we can start rekindling the old Hawks/Stars rivalry. The other positive is that the Hawks have not lost a top player from last season. Detroit is minus Lidstrom, Nashville minus Suter, with no obvious replacements. Meanwhile, the Hawks haven't improved on defense or in goal, either. Giving the turnover machine Oduya all the money they did was a Hjalmarsson-type mistake.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) NFL Network top 100 players list, Tebow made the list, Cutler did not. Are you f***ing serious? However, Cutler was #8 on Jaws' list of top 30 QB's in football, ahead of Vick, Stafford, Newton, Ryan, and Tebow (who was #30). QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) Outside the big 3, Jay was as good as anyone last season before he got hurt. Agree 100%. He was absolutely rolling on that 5 game win streak.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) You speak the truth. You deny any of that? So what if he wasn't devastating anymore? He had a good long run and pretty much all closers we've had since have had their struggles after a stretch of saves. Reed has been very good and it's hopeful he's at the start of his four or five year tenure of effectiveness, cause that's all closers last. No, but if you're going to keep going back to 2005 for everything, that's insane. That's like saying Ozuna is a great utility player, Cliff Politte is good because he drove in a run that year, and Dustin Hermanson should get a job right now. Jenks was great for 1 year, good for two, and horrible for the rest.
  5. Can someone fill me in on this Sox-Twins game? I've been a fan since birth and right now, it's just not coming to me.
  6. Merkin or Gonzales tweeted earlier that it'll probably be Axelrod on Sunday.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 07:30 AM) I'm not sure if this is a good reference...the first thought I had was the father/firefighter at the Ballpark in Arlington that Hamilton threw the souvenir ball to. But I'm sure you didn't mean it that way. The heat index will be 113 today. I believe he was referring to that.
  8. It's a 98 heat index at the park right now, and it's only 10:40.
  9. Someone tweeted earlier that Chicago is out on Suter. BTW, did anyone see that napkin last night? Supposedly, someone cleaned Suter and Parise's table at a bar last night and they found a napkin where Parise was writing down the pros and cons of playing for the Pens and Wild. On the side, they had crossed out a few teams, and Chicago was one of them.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 01:37 AM) How can you not stand him? Have you seen his interviews? The man is likeable and I wish him well. I want the Sox to win every game, but I hold no ill will toward Ozzie. Why do you? I think of him and think of WS. I'm still waiting for an answer on how "it's obvious" that Miami will make the playoffs.
  11. The only thing I can think of is that Ventura knows they might need 5-7 innings out of the bullpen tomorrow.
  12. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) Not Corey Feldman, right? Because he's been just terrible. Scott Feldman. He's given up 12 runs in his last 13 IP on the road.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Hopefully they pull Sale after this inning and let some of the young guys get some innings. Great crowd tonight, as this is deja vu to that Sox/Cardinals crushing from 2006. Was that the same series where they won 1-0 despite only getting 1 hit? I think Thome hit a homer or something.
  14. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Why couldn't I have been at tonight's game? I hope they save some for tomorrow. I would pull Sale after this inning. Probably throw some bench players in, too. I'll be at the game tomorrow as well. I hope they save a few for Feldman, who's been terrible on the road.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) LOL @ Youk and Beltre What happened?
  16. I'd rather not go through 250+ pages, so I'll just ask- has Apple announced when the new iPhone will be released?
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) Yup, any fast way of resending a msg on a iPhone.. ? Yeah. Keep the number up and keep sending A5
  18. RT @clarksencer: Ozzie Guillen went on post-game, profanity-laced rant in clubhouse, for all to hear, ripping pitchers after Tuesday's loss.
  19. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) What was the injury delay that Gameday had stated? The ump had something in his eye.
  20. I haven't watched this since that night. This was great work by ESPN.
  21. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) maybe i missed it somewhere else, but its hilarious that lahair made the all star team. hes not even a first baseman anymore, hes a platoon player now (doesnt bat vs. lefties since hes batting .079 against them) and has been very average at best since may. may: 5hr, 8rbi , .253 june:3hr, 6rbi, .231 so he became an all star because of what he did in april(.390,5,14) theo needs to trade him this month since his value will never be higher. Great post. He's essentially a AAAA player. If Theo doesn't trade him by the deadline, that would be a huge mistake. Like you said, he's one dimensional in terms of who he can or cannot hit again.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) Just saw where Aramis walked off the Marlins...poor Ozzie IT'S NOT HIS FAULT. HE WON A RING HERE. HE IS GREAT.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 07:45 PM) Seriously...don't do the jinx with his health! I said "same player," not "same back."
  24. "He's a great closer. He was the closer in 2005 when the Sox won. Who was the last closer for the White Sox or Cubs to win a World Series with that team? Doing that in Chicago is so difficult." -- greg.
