  1. Why did they trade Lillibridge, a great utility guy and fielder, and Zach Stewart for Kevin Youkilis? They gave up too much. He's not the same player he used to be.
  2. If you were KW, would you give Sale a Longoria-esque contract? In 2 years, he might want huge money, but now, they might be able to lock him up for 4-5 more years for around $5M/year. Yes or no?
  3. IIRC, the last time Oswalt faced the Sox was game 3 of the World Series. He allowed 5 runs in 6 innings.
  4. If Detroit really wants to give Suter $90M, he can go there.
  5. They should win tonight with Sale and could win a high scoring game tomorrow with Feldman (8+ ERA on the road) facing Axelrod. To win the first 2 of a home series vs Texas would be huge, especially when you consider that Harrison goes for them on Thursday afternoon.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) It's pretty obvious the Marlins are going to make the playoffs. The question is: Is it destiny for Sox n Miami to meet in the WS the first-year post Ozzie. HAHA WOW I THINK I'M GOING TO GO DO A CANNONBALL OFF OF MY ROOF NOW BYE (hint: I have no pool)
  7. QUOTE (soxmaniac! @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 12:47 AM) Greg assassinates Robin Ventura in a drunken induced rage over Ozzie's firing. But he loves Robin.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 11:32 PM) Thank you both! Kaplan tweeted this morning that it was "f'ing hilarious," FWIW.
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) But he was a saint. IT WASN'T HIS FAULT. WHY FIRE THE INNOCENT OLD MAN?
  10. Hot, humid day game following a hot, humid night game. There is nothing to read into here.
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:42 PM) So anyone see 'Ted' ? My brother saw it and claims it was very dumb yet funny in a sick way. They make jokes regarding alcoholism and snorting blow. It is what it is. Making fun of that is better than making fun of rape and terrorism, like The Dictator did.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) I should've said more exciting and likeable. But I'm just bulls***ting. quinarvy is the only person here that understands the fact that you don't have to be a homer and still support your teams. I think I'm the last thing from a homer, so maybe he and I will get along.
  13. Lonnie Chisenhall has a broken ulna in his forearm. He's out 4-6 weeks, per Paul Hoynes of the CPD.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) I've gotta admit, this soxfan49 guy is rather impressive. Maybe I should take him under my wing? Make him exciting and likeable like I did quinarvy. Aw, I'm not likeable and exciting?
  15. Pierzynski is the first lefty White Sox to homer twice in a game at Yankee Stadium since 1999 when Chris Singleton did it.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) Again, he was sure close this spring. So, the Hawks should sign him now for $3.5M+ for October 2012-April 2013 because he was good in May 2012?
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) Not a bad post or a bad theory, but you guys act like the Marlins season is over. And the team is finished. Why bury Ozzie so quickly with his new team? I don't care if the Marlins win. I don't care if Ozzie gets fired by Miami. All I want is for people to either praise Ozzie on here (in a best case scenario) for his body of work with the White Sox or at the worst to shut up and not take pot shots at him, which in my mind forces me to respond. I wish people would ONLY concentrate on this team so we can discuss this team and I won't have to defend Ozzie. It's growing tiresome. I guess we're all just assuming they should be buried because he kind of has a past of quitting on his own team in the face of adversity. Then again, maybe he won't quit this teach because he's now in hot Miami with a ton of money in a Latin community with a loving GM where people don't give two s***s about baseball. Why would he quit on that? And oh, don't worry, he won't get fired by Miami. He's a great manager, probably better than Lasorda and Weaver. The Marlins only tripled (maybe even quadrupled) their payroll upon his arrival, so I have no idea why he'd get fired for their underachieving season. It's all Heath Bell's, Kenny's, or Adam Dunn's fault for Miami's struggles this year. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) I eccho those sentiments. PS: Despite some rumors, my account was not hacked. Why should I believe the owner of the website if I can believe greg instead?
  18. The Giants pitching staff is above average, I'd say.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) He would have calmed down the serpent since they are both latin. Exactly. His leadership and calm demeanor would've led the Sox to victory. His pep talk after NYY's first inning would have rivaled Al Pacino's in Any Given Sunday, in my opinion (and greg's).
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) Awesome night from pretty much everyone. That Septimo kid has Major League stuff! So do I in comparison to Will Ohman. Sorry, StrangeSox.
  21. "With Ozzie, the Sox win that game 16-4." -- greg right now, probably.
  22. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) I would guess he'd fly into Fort Lauderdale. It's a lot closer. What he said.^^ QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) He's not the player he once was, but he was sure close this spring. Since 2010, Brodeur ranks 40th out of 44 goalies in EV SV%.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 12:05 AM) Dumb. We have two young pitchers with closer stuff in Jones and Reed. DeAza and Viciedo under club control almost indefinitely. Rios and Dunn for two more years, Alexei even longer, if we so chose to keep him or trade (and we have no replacements in the minors, so it's not just an obvious move to deal him). We have Sale, Danks and Quintana together for at least four years. The situation isn't that bleak. We probably will bring back AJ for one or two more years and work Flowers in there, so that position will be at least "average" for next year. We do need to find a solution (permanently) at 3B and 1B, but what are the odds we won't try to retain Konerko for at least 2014? Mitchell could be a factor as early as late this season, but probably 2013. Beck, if we can straighten out his mechanics and get him to shed weight in the off-season, could move QUICKLY. They might even put him in the AFL. Then we have a long line of pitchers like Axelrod, Castro, Hernandez and others that are showing promise...Rienzo, Petricka, we've got some very good pieces, and a ton of depth in terms of bullpen arms. Eventually, Santiago could be a factor as a starter as well. He's not quite getting it done in the bullpen, with tonight being a good example. But the problem is that he's still a better option than Ohman, PROBABLY. We legitimately had about 10 options to choose from to replace Ohman. And that's calling Phil Humber a lost cause at this point, which is far from certain. Or closing off the possibility of Peavy still being on the Sox again in 2013. Neither one of those are slam dunks. So why was what I said so dumb? It seems that we agree. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:56 AM) Mitchell will not be up in 2013. Right now he's struggling a bit but has started to hit again. Sure, his average isn't great but he's a great athlete and his OBP is fantastic. By the start of 2013, I expect him to compete to win a job with the Sox. By then, Rios will be gone and they will need a RF'er unless Danks works out. He's probably a natural CF, but the Sox can get him started in RF and eventually move him over.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 08:34 AM) It will be interesting to see where he lands. I think a sleeper might be New Jersey. It looks like Brodeur is on his way out which might be a blessing in disguise because he's not the player he once was or even close, and that could open up a spot for Luongo there. The Devils' downfall was when they gave Kovalchuk all of that money. He's a good player with a disgusting one timer, but now they won't have Parise and maybe Salvador next season. BTW, an interesting rumor I heard today is that if (when?) Brodeur leaves NJ, the Devils might want Crawford. If that's the case, the Hawks would go after Bernier. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 07:57 AM) Destination: Sunrise or Toronto. It still hasn't been 100% confirmed that it's him, but his supposed Twitter account has been hilarious, especially when trade rumors are brought up. Fixed.
