Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
wagner10 replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) As long as KW is in charge, there will be no rebuilding. Only retooling on the fly. I agree one thing I've always respected about him is he does have that never say die attitude. This year is the perfect example of how were "rebuilding" ya sure in first place. -
QUOTE (balfanman @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) Next year? He has been moved there in the same year. Ya but that may have happened in the past for a guy who was amazing and pitched in the pen in the playoffs I mean has there ever been such a fall off like this one?

Why sell Q high when he could be a cheap quality 4-5 starter. I would think you have to sell Floyd for a bat. Redsox have wanted him for a while. I wonder who they got in the Minors as a 3B or middle infielder. Wouldnt mind seeing us ship him there for some prospects. Then again Ive never been high on Gavin or Morel so I am pretty bias in this situation.

Return of an All-Star: Sale vs Royals
wagner10 replied to Steve9347's topic in 2012 Season in Review
QUOTE (balfanman @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) [/b] Any particular reason why he needs to show the Royals this? I'd rather he showed the Tigers, Yankees, Rangers, etc. this. No no particular reason just that he is throwing against them today and not throwing against the tigers, yankees, rangers etc. Just a statement and a reassuring that Sale still has it this year. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Mine: Frank/Paulie/Buehrle/Ozzie Buehrle makes it over Pierce/Fox/Aparicio/Lyons/Faber/Jackson/Walsh due to 2005. League was more crowded than 1906/1917 I agree with the reasoning for Buehrle but is it the same arguement for Ozzie? And I agree talent has gone up alot since then. -
Return of an All-Star: Sale vs Royals

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 12:11 PM) He easily makes it onto my Mt. Rushmore of White Sox. 35/56/14/12. I'm glad the team is playing well enough that taking it easy with Sale is something they can afford to do. Id pay to see that Mt. Rushmore. 35/56/14/21 (coop is probably my favorite coach out there and deserves the recognition he has earned) Also would like Sale to K up 8+ today to show the Royals his arm is alive and still throwing fire. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) I have trouble believing that they could really get anything hugely useful for him after his struggles this year. He could be good "Danks insurance" if they are comfortable putting him in the pen next year, and it's not like he's expensive. I agree with putting him in the pen. Im not saying Humber is good by any means but he could be a valuble cheap arm in long relief and spot start occasionally. Has there ever been a guy to throw a perfect game and move to the pen the year after? Interesting...

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) It made me sad typing it. The good news is that I'm an idiot, so there is no way my prediction comes true. You cant call posters and idiot but I sadly think Sale could have a tough year next year with a possible injury but it all depends on how he works in the offseason. Sale/Danks/Peav/Q/New guy most likly a RH pitcher. We trade Gavin and Humber goes to long guy or Santiago in that Long guy position, but nevertheless I think we have lots of options for 2013 and am excited to see what KW does. In the meantime I am going to keep watching the sox in 2012. Its all good

an easy way to watch games that I do when Im blacked out or the game is on comcast and they air that other much worse chicago team is go online and watch the game. A website that has not failed me yet on watching any sports on TV is: Firstrowsports.eu It has all the games so if you want to see what a different team is doing you can check that out too. Just an option I thought I would share in case any of you Sox fans from other states get blacked out or Comcasted away in a deserted area where those guys in Black and White are to be unseen.

And KW steals another one with that PTBNL haha. Loving KWs moves this year, Wise is going to be a defensive replacement late when he comes up for DV probably and give De Aza a few days off in Sept. as well. Cant complain about signing a guy who plays good D and has some speed. Does anyone know what the contract was? Cant be to expensive being a Minor League contract. And does the finalization of the Meyers deal and this extra little note of Wise and getting Youk and Liriano make KW the GM of the year? I dont think anyone else has made the moves hes made besides maybe the Dodgers GM with Hanley and possibly Lee

What do you think of this idea....honorary World Series ring
wagner10 replied to sunofgold's topic in The Diamond Club
I like the idea but yes I think it takes the entire reason away for them to play those long careers. Im not going to blast you for this idea and say it is dumb because its not I like where your mind is at trying to do something for great players. A BETTER idea is why dont the Phillies put Thome on waivers and someone (Whitesox) pick him up and go back to a 5 man rotation after a little rest. Then we pick up a bench bat and only that. I know we need a util guy but come one its big JIM! Id love to see him back even if he just sat the bench like he is doing in Philly. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) Blasphemy...if by fiction you mean an amazing movie, then I guess you're right. However, he really should have been booed out of the Twinkie Dome for letting Griffey Jr. beat him in such an important game. That damn dome

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 08:45 AM) Both teams have slightly better team ERA's this year than the Sox. Not that its drastic, but that statement doesn't really work. And the Angels top 3 in their rotation is pretty f***ing nice. I think i would take out Starters over theirs even though they have Weaver who should win the cy young this year. But we have 6 quality starters in Q Floyd Danks(when healthy) Liriano Peavy and Sale oh and Phillip Humber is not a bad spot starter guy with a Perfect game on his Resume. I think it would be interesting to compare our 5 starters to theirs at a complete whole. I think their bullpen may be a little better and I would say our pitching is way deeper than texas for sure. Feliz is hurt just like Danksy but I think we are better than them anyways even with the DUMPster in their starting rotation. (Not that Dempster is bad this year but I just like the nickname)

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) Tear the old deal up and come up with a new one. Same for Youkilis and maybe Liriano as well. And then let's extend Sale while we're at it and try to get Quintana on one of those cheapy Sergio Santos type of deals. But first things first, win the World Series and up the payroll. If only this was all simple haha.
-
I said the Cardinals and the Rangers (Buffalo Bills of baseball) as to whos got it now. I think Baltimore is building a nice little orgainization haha. But seriously Wieters and Jones are nice players and their pitching is pretty good and young too. I see them making some noise at the end of the year.

KW crazy good this year. I will be one to say I have doubted him and been frustrated with him recentley until this year. Now I am pretty happen we kept him around. Lets hope he can keep it up Septimo and ODawg for King Felix looking possible with how KW has just picked teams apart this year through trade. Have to give our scouts some props to considering they are the ones telling KW what these guys are doing.

QUOTE (Special K @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) I think KW is a decent GM, but that's pretty brutal if that's who Kenny is hanging is hat on offensively. BTW, did he draft Rowand? Speaking of which, KW has also been a phenomenal GM at selling high on players. The only player that truly hurts that I can think of that KW let get away is Gio Gonzalez. Twice

Dont stop now boys!

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) Thome was one-dimensional and only K'ed, walked or homered, lol. Sounds familiar. This is very true though haha
-
Since when are all corner outfielders power hitters? I didnt know that? Thanks still think he would be better suited for left if Rios was more comfortable in center. Put DV with his cannon in right and i think we would cover more ground out there but then again only power hitters play the corners.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) No point in arguing. Quentin was never good Alexei was never good Dye sucked Pods sucked Iguchi sucked Dayan's future is bleak De Aza sucks AJP is bad Bring in Trout-type players or you fail as a GM. Quentin - still playing but crazy Alexei -Still playing defensive stud Dye- WS MVP Pods- Wheels for us thats what he needed to be Iguchi- BLOWS Dayan- 23 with alot of upside De Aza- A true corner outfielder and slumping AJP- Defensive liability but one of the most consistent hitters for the sox. Just dont understand how all those guys are that terrible. But what do I know. I think Gordo should probably be a gold glove winner. Hes the 9 hitter and probably our best defender along with Alexie who is terrible? Just kind of dumbfounded by this that is all. Not trying to attack you anyway just not really understanding every point you've made.
-
Thome for a big bench bat? I think he has to do something with what the tigers did. Johnson or Street? Shouldve went out and got Hanley maybe we could have packaged him with Ozzie BUT in all seriousness Reed Johnson and Josh Johnson are my two picks.

SOX S.O.S.: MUST STOP THE LOSING STREAK
wagner10 replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2012 Season in Review
Wouldve liked to see Dunn get a day off and JorDanks in left and DV DHing but like said before why kink the offense were just in a little slump. Rios is a monster in the 5 hole and putting him up in the 3 hole might change his mindset and the way pitchers approach him. -
Let him get ABs in AAA get his swing going and call him up late if were in the playoff hunt. Otherwise just let him get ABs down and hopefully he comes back next year better. Unless he tears up in AAA I think Youk will have the better of the two up with the big club. Lets get back to winning games.
