  1. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Love what the Twins are doing in Detroit. 3 - 0, 11 hits. 11 hits and only 3 runs wow the twins are struggling this year.
  2. I think everyone is ready to pull the plug on flowers because of his terrible disipline at the plate but he is a pretty good backup defensively and still relatively young. He will be fine for the rest of the year backing up an ALLSTAR or should be allstar in AJP. Next year we find a backup like castro was someone who hits around .250 not .180
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) Thomas put up OPS's of 1.006 and .975 in 1991 and 1992, but did not make the All Star Team. McGwire made both those years, and Palmeiro was there in 91 as well. Frank was then in the high .800's in 98-99, didn't make the AS team, while Palmeiro did. Then had his return season in 2000, 1.061 OPS, first place team, and Jason Giambi started the AS game. And once again, 2003, the same story. Frank hit 42 HR, mid .900's OPS, Giambi was the AS reserve. There's at least 4 years where he was a deserving all star but had the roiders in front of him, and then maybe 2 more if he got the same kind of credit that anyone else got. also a 2 time MVP probably would have been top 2 with Griffey in 94 minus the strike and he will be in the HOF before all those juicers. He was screwed by Giambi big time and probably is the greatest White Sox of all time.
  4. It doesn't matter if he is gold glove quality that award is rigged to go to Jeter year after year even if Alexi does a far superior job a SS than him. I would say we have possible the best defensive infield in the AL because of these "scrubs" I agree Alexi might have lost a step but Gordo is a great 2Bman and both are coming around with the wood. GO SOX!
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 10:18 AM) Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales Jake Peavy will donate $24,100 toward pancreatic cancer research after 241 strikeouts were recorded Saturday. Jake Peavy ‏@JakePeavy_44 241 total strikeouts yesterday! 24 in our game (most on day) & 21 in Padres game (2cd most of the day) isnt it ironic how things play out! I like how he made it about the entire day. It was not about just his performance but the leagues. Great guy and happy to see that there are still guys in the MLB that do great things like this.
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) thats an interesting take. Imo, that last at bat by Ramirez personified in microcosm whats wrong with this team. Too many guys swing at pitches that would be balls and walks if they just took them. But they swing at it because they want every at bat to be a hit or a HR. We're a big power team, which means we need guys on base to take advantage of the homers we hit. But guys aren't getting on base enough. Completely agree with this. Our teams plate discipline is atrocious and needs to improve, but today Gavin Floyd did not have the stuff he has been showing his last two starts. He looked uncomfortable in this game where he looked damn near unhittable in his last two starts. Wonder what was wrong today to where he could not get ahead of a yankee bat and that includes every player in their order today.
  7. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) Would have said the same thing about JorDanks not long ago Still think JorDanks has alot to prove but I love his speed of the bench. I like Mitchell but agree he needs atleast a good healthy season in the minors before his call up. I would say he would be more likely to compete in 2014 rather than next season.
  8. Dayan hasnt even had a full major league season under his belt. He is a notorious slow starter and has had his struggles, but his upside is way to high to just send him down for another year. We've been doing that to him for the past 2 seasons and last year everyone griped because he hit .308 the year before when he was up. Give him a full season because his numbers in the minors are great. Im sure he will turn out to be the player we want him to be. I do not think they should platoon him out in left either because when he is hot you'll wonder why hes not playing everyday and Dan Johnson is AAAA like everyone has been saying, Conor Jackson deserves the call up before him I believe anyways.
