QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) I am not saying start the season with cotts as the closer... but i think it is pretty inevitable. Jenks almost always looks shaky to me... especially against right handers. He needs to reverse the batting average against when it comes to right handers and left handers... right handers lit him up... and you face right handers at least 80% of the time. cotts is about the closest thing we have to a solid reliever right now. What I saw in jenks yesterday was pure garbage. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see cotts be the closer either to start the season or a few weeks into it.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 02:29 AM) Okay, so someone help me out here. What was it about my post that made it quote worthy? I mean, I tell a guy that sometimes things are or are not true on a message board and I get qouted in SI? I don't get it. I think that's what the whole article is implying. Rumors that start out on places like here aren't always true and should be taken with a grain of salt. Your quote just summed everything up nice and neat. -
At least they seem to finally have a plan at the quarterback position this season. How many years in a row did they go into the season without a real backup quarterback?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) Pollite, Cotts, Hermanson, Jose and Jon really had "career" years... IMO, none of our hitters really had career years...... yeah, i'd agree to that. And that's enough. When the majority of your staff has career years, you're going to succeed.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) I am probably more concerned than I need to be, but I just dont have a good feeling going into the year. I really think we caught alot of luck last year with the injury bug, and I dont know if the luck can last. If it can, I think we should be alright. If everyone is healthy, are starters cam go 1200 innings, and middle relief wont be a problem like it very well could. I also assume a move will be made at the deadline, getting whatever it is we need at the time.... No big blows to our staff=Good season. we caught alot of luck with the injury bug and the 'career year bug'. Seriously, how many of our guys had career years?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) From that thread... How prophetic... magic 8 balls dude. Holy crap, this is crazy. Why don't I have my own paragraph? -
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) they should make a dvd set with every game from last year. that would be rad.

first off, record means nothing in ST, you should not be judging anything on that. The biggest worry on everyone's mind is the bullpen. Jenks and hermanson could have injury problems, bmac is struggling a bit, and we have 2 new guys coming in to fill out the back end. So lots of question marks surrounding the bullpen. Besides that, the only thing that can stop us is injuries.

I finally saw 'walk the line'. I'm a huge cash fan, I have no idea why it took me this long to see it, but it lived up to my expectations. Fantastic.

What in your opinion is more successful?
SnB replied to rangercal's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
absolutely no one cares about the NIT, making the tourney is success. -
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) I was actually hoping it would look cornier... at least then we'd know they weren't trying to take this movie seriously

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Its an odd year when the Missouri Valley has more teams in the sweet 16 than the big ten and sec combined. it's just going to show that parity in college basketball is growing every year. So many people said throughout the year that the big 10 was the best overall conference, which I think was correct. But it lacked an outstanding team, which as we see now, was definitely true. MSU had the potential to be that team, but never developed fully. IU's injuries and internal problems hurt them. Illinois never fully got their act together, were missing a few pieces. Iowa played so gutsy at times, but didn't have all the talent. So I guess what you mean by "overrated", because many thought that the big 10 would struggle going far in this tourney.
-
sweet 16 - 10/16 elite 8 -5/8 final four - 3/4 Championship game and Champion still around.
-
go hoyas. alot of people have OSU in the final four, i do not, this can only help

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) I bet I'm better off than more people than I think I am though. Also, I'd like to send out a warning: West Virginia vs. Northwestern State WILL be a game. WVU isn't all that athletic, and NWSU's athletes are going to give them hell on defense, plus WVU isn't nearly as good defensively as Iowa is. welcome to the magic 8 ball club

as frustrating as this tourney has been for me bracket-wise........this is about as entertainign as you can possibly ask for. George mason, Witchita State, Bradley, North Carolina. One of these things doesn't belong. wow.
-
go bradley. I have to root for everyone else to fall into bracket depression like me
