QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) Should I even ask what that means? , "iowa style" = the ridiculously awful way we played when we lost to you guys, offense and defense. -
Illini make another appeal for Illiniwek

QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) So I understand if all these appeals fail, that the dancing mascot dude is gone. But will they also have to lose the cartoon Indianhead logo with the headdress? the university doesn't even make that anymore. If you look closely, all of the offical NCAA merchandise will have the I logo instead. Although, I'm pretty sure Nike still makes stuff with the chief logo as do all the independent stores. -

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) Yeah, that it a very good point. The NCAA has actually provided the university with a way out of a difficult situation. They can still keep the alumni happy in that they are pushing the appeal process as far as it can go. On a personal note, it will be very sad to see the Chief go, but the handwriting has been on the wall for some time now. honestly as long as the nickname stays (which it will), I won't be too upset over any of this. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Even if this fails, the university has IMO done a good job switching the focus of university athletics from the chief to the color orange in general. that's a good point that I've never thought about before. -

Starting to get excited. If Randle can contain tucker, I think we have a very good shot. But saying that, I'll take a loss ok as long as we don't play "Iowa style" -
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) anyway, i've always defended the cell. the timing was bad with it being built, that's all. that first year people were all over it's nuts. then when camden went up it was like "uhh, well, uhh..." my biggest complaint actually doesn't have anything to do with how it came out. i just felt the park should have been built facing downtown with the train tracks snaking down the left field line. they probably could have even done some cool s*** with the train tracks. but, hindsight is 20-20. and green seats are definitely cooler, imo. i've brought this point up with people more than a few times because it almost seems too ridiculous to not build it that way. The excuse I've heard is plumbing. Something to do with the fact that they would have to redo all the plumbing or something. Not saying I believe it, but there's gotta be something, they can't be that stupid.

you can almost hear the ridiculously loud heavy metal from here.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) They have no programming. FSN didn't have much either and we never got stuff like this from them.

comcast really has impressed so far this offseason. They're really going above and beyond for us.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) Seeing Keith's disguise = priceless that's the best advice i've ever given anyone. BTW, you should have come up to our room last night, keith was........"not feeling well" It was hilarious.

the weekend consisted of a few great quotes: "drink your f***ing beer!" "he's so little!" "Oh my f***ing god, turn f***ing left now!" "I'M THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION!" feel free to add.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) I think Keith, SnB, and Tony will agree. If I were ever to wear 6 inch platforms, and wear a #55 McCarthy jersey to the park, I wouldn't need a ticket to get into USCF. But I might end up on the mound that night. never thought about that, but good call on that one. Make sure to gel your hair as great as bmac though

vienna, really no question.

soxfest = crazy, fun weekend. There will be plenty of inside jokes and stories to go around in the next few days. Skimming over the comments, I can understand the complaints. The lines were crazy, the whole thing was jam-packed. So if you were going just for the fest, I could see the dissapointment. For me, it was just a weekend to hang out with a ton of good friends and just have a blast, with soxfest as the backdrop.

see everyone later today

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) Ugh. Loans. The nice thing I have going at ISU is my work-study job. I worked 3 hrs a week @ 6.50 and had more than enough money to cover incidentals that semester. I started with 200 in that account and it's around 400 now. At the beginning of my second semester, I was able to switch to have my current 4 hours a week credited against my student loans through the university. It's 26 bucks a week, just change, I know, but even something like 300-400 bucks that I don't have to pay back later on my student loans is gravy. yup, i have something like you alex. I work in the cafeteria around 10 hours a week at about $8/hr. It's not much, but it helps cover the little things when they come up. But saying that, just about all my savings have been sucked up helping pay tuition already and my last 2 years are going to be filled with loans. Oh well, it could be much worse.
