  1. How'd I know? Abreuniks out to gloat after a play a 1st baseman should make.
  2. Queue the meatball squad to dub Jose Abreu a great defender after that play
  3. Alex Rios was 6'5 and played a decent CF. It isn't unheard of. Penciling the guy in as a DH when he can currently play CF is silly.
  4. Lots of interesting prospects in the DSL this year. Any progress on futuresox getting a DSL reporter? I hear it is beautiful down there
  5. Rick Hahn has seen enough. He's getting promoted to full time DH.
  6. You bring up a good point. Probably worth it just rolling with him for one more year at a big-time discount until Vaughn is ready. See what you've got within the org and pursue a DH in free agency next off-season if need be.
  7. I read somewhere that only homers and strikeouts matter
  8. If that wasn't the case Abreu wouldn't get ripped on for being a dogshit 1st baseman and having a dogshit OBP
  9. "It seems to be another elite, middle-of-the-order performance the White Sox have come to expect from a healthy Abreu. But the first baseman’s on-base percentage is at a career-low .313 and the funks he’s had in ’19 have been a bit more extended than years past. Those results aren’t necessarily related to those who are hitting or aren’t hitting around him in the White Sox lineup. It’s more about a player often identified by other teams as the White Sox player that can’t be allowed to beat them." “If he was a guy that I would say walks 75 to 100 times per year, it would be better for him obviously. But he’s never been that guy coming out of Cuba. He’s more of a swinger. We talk about it all the time. That’s probably the biggest difference [this season]. They aren’t pitching to him as much this year and he’s not taking his walks, which he’s never been a high walk guy.” They highlight his weakness in the article at least. I don't see him improving in that aspect as he ages. A 3 hole hitter with a .300 OBP is not what I want.
  10. Even the blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
  11. Can confirm they are hiring more analysts. I know somebody who interviewed recently. Hopefully it is the start of a new era for the White sox. Hopefully he can find a way to get me into the organization as well.
  12. I'm willing to give him more time in a better league next year, but c'mon. The dude is struggling to hit as a 22 year old in DSL. Pretty embarrassing considering all our eggs went into that basket for the most part. What a failure of an international signing period.
  13. Yolbert Sanchez is trash.
  14. This is Soxtalk, and on Soxtalk we communicate in American. Lock it up, boys
  15. Let's make it to the ALCS first. Tatis Jr's success is much more guaranteed than an ALCS run at this .point.
  16. @greg775 this may be our chance at getting a Guillen back as manager of the White Sox. I hope so. Nothing beat Ozzie talking about the rats at Wrigley Field. Comedic gold.
  17. For some reason I thought it was Oney and Ozzie Jr
  18. He is the son that wasn't a jagoff during the Ozzie-Kenny beef, correct?
  19. Don't tell that to @greg775 But for real, while batting average holds much less weight now a days, the batting title is still a cool thing to win.
  20. I expect Abreu to be on a team that is neither the White Sox nor the Yankees. Wherever he is, I'm sure he'll be cursing Rick Hahn for not bringing him back (with half a tin in his lip, of course)
  21. Yermin Munster killing it per usual
  22. Finally an article @vilehoopster and @greg775 can get behind ???
  23. Send him down to AAA until we get that year of control back
