So a stud is a B-? What's an A- or A? A mega stud? People just overrate him and get personally offended if you criticize him in any way. He is a solid, above average hitter who can't field his position for squat and doesn't hit when it matters. He is a tremendous clubhouse influence.
The Sox will have to outbid other teams by $100-125 million dollars for them to sign? That is a fricken joke dude. We have a top 3 farm system and play in Chicago. Regardless, these guys would probably play for a little league team if they bid 100m higher than the next bidder. I'm glad you aren't the GM.
He will definitely cost more than that. The dude has very solid stats. The Sox could always deal him during the trade deadline or after this season, but he won't come cheap
Let me know if you have any extra of those rose colored glasses you put on when evaluating Abreu. It must be nice to envision Jose as this perennial MVP type player the way you and others do.
Lots of people have been saying that it might be a ruse. They give this presentation, low ball Harper and Machado at 250m, then tell the fan base "oh well, we tried"
I'm talking about the amount he got. Michael got 30m+ for multiple years back in the fricken 90'. Reinseorf forked up unprecedented dollars to the best player in the league for multiple years. I don't think it's unbelievable that he will do the same with these generational talent type FAs. He has shown he can go balls to the wall.
I apologize, my post was overly condescending. I think these guys know of the top prospects in the game, such as Eloy and Vlad Jr. If not, their agent will quickly make them aware of the top prospects on the team offering big-time dollars.
