  1. POTW during the slow offseason time isn't anything to brag about
  2. The stakes of getting banned are too high. This isn't a bet I'm willing to take knowing our FO.
  3. The stakes are a bit too high on this one. Our front office is simply too unpredictable, and I just don't trust them to make the right choice. Non-tendering him may be the right decision as it can free up more money for Machado or Harper. Don't trust the FO to make the right decision? No. Sorry, but the bet is off.
  4. It'll have to be on better terms and conditions. I'm not confident in my chances if it is strictly based on being non-tendered or not.
  5. Going from ~30m to ~50m for the first year of a contract with opt outs IS a big deal honestly. That's a lot of money.
  6. I would not be happy if the Sox signed a gold glove 3B and played him at 1st base
  7. You don't know that. An extra 16-20m on the first year is big-time money.
  8. Remember when he would talk about the rats under Wrigley? Comedic gold. Ink him, Jerry
  9. Any favorite Ozzie moments or quotes? I love when he would talk about the rats in wrigley field.
  10. Jose is projected to make 16-20m in arbitrary, from what I have seen. This is a lot of money that could be added to a frontloaded contract for Machado or Harper. Jose can produce at a slightly above average rate for a 1st baseman. The question is, is it worth it tendering him? Is the drop-off in production that Davidson and palka offer worth the money that can be spent on a superstar? Furthermore, Jose has been proven to be unreliable when it matters. The guy is about as unclutch as can be. He is getting a year older, and I doubt his defense gets any better (it probably gets even worse) With his drop-off in stats last year, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets even worse. Do the Sox tender him or let him go and spend on Machado/Harper?
  11. I think his ceiling is highest at 2B. He has some great potential there defensively. I get we have Madrigal, but we have plenty of CF options. Robert, LuGo and basabe have chances to play there.
  12. Once Madrigal starts shredding the minors, we can worry about it. Once that happens we flip him or bring him up upon an injury
  13. IMO, the only way the Sox sign Machado is if they front load the contract. Obviously they will need to add opt out years too. Something like 40 mll the first year or 35 mil the first two years. The opt out needs to be at earliest after year 4. Ideally, it is after year 5. Dump Avi and contribute that payroll to Machado. If it doesn't bother Machado, nontender Abreu as well. Contribute that salary to Machado. The Sox need to do everything in their power to get Machado.

  15. Well, that explains most of your posts
  16. What types of diet changes??
  17. Is it just me or are more position players getting TJs surgery now a days? I wonder if they just didn't catch it back in the day with position players.
  18. You are making the claim that they have absolutely no chance at signing Manny, despite having the money to do so. You are also making the claim that free agents go to contenders rather than for the money, despite historical evidence showing otherwise. Then you make ridiculous demands for evidence. You probably shouldn't make insane demands for evidence if you aren't willing to provide any evidence.
  19. Wow man, such a bold take. Predicting that a top FA WON'T sign with one of the many teams. I liked the part where you used rationale and reasoning that has been historically incorrect.
  20. I'd rather the front office save money instead of paying Avi. Go for the gold and try to get Machado. That is 8 mil more you can pay him next year. Trade or nontender Abreu and you get an additional 16mil to pay him.
  21. On the fence about what to do with Abreu. If that 16mil can he spent on Machado, I think you nontender him. Him and Avi alone leave 24mil to spend on Machado.
  22. So after 2 months of pitching he should be back to his normal velocity? Recovering from Tommy John's is that easy huh?
