You must not be very educated on advanced defensive metrics. Save me some time and go do some research on fangraphs. Alexei was an above average defender at the hardest fielding position to play outside of catcher. It seems it is more you being blinded by his occasional blunders, not me being blinded by his dazzling plays.

Alexei was a GG caliber shortstop and a very good player in his prime. Care to elaborate on the dumb dumb comment? Has anybody ever though that maybe SS is a freaking hard position to play, and there will just be more errors/mental lapses due to the difficulty of the position? Also, not sure about the Viciedo comment. Didn't strike me as a dumb guy. He just stunk.

Good catch man. I can't help but think of all the success the cubs have had with international prospects. Obviously this guy isn't a big signing like some of their guys, but he's balling. Those international signings are a crapshoot. Maybe we got the lucky side of the crapshoot

Jose Rodriguez 3-4 with a 2B. This guy is looking legit... Somebody mentioned him yesterday in the minor league thread. Only 17 years old and plays SS.Hitting .413 in 11 games so far.

Regardless, I think Caulfield deserves more credit. He is all over the place sometimes but he puts together long, well thought out posts pretty often. I think he is a very valuable poster to have. I always enjoy his posts late at night when nobody else is posting.
