  1. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 12:16 PM) And over those two "mediocre" seasons fangraphs still valued him at $40M. He made less than half that. Good point. I looked it up and his 2015 season was better than I remembered. His war regressed every year up until this year, though. 2014: 5.3 war 2015: 3.2 war 2016: 1.8 war I'm not signing Jose after he has this great year. Chances are he regresses. Give him another year to prove himself before a long term contract. Of you are reading this Hahn, don't give him the aforementioned contract that pays him up to 20m a year.
  2. The Jose lovefest had reached new heights. You get lamented if you don't think Jose should get 20 mil a year.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 12:09 PM) There it is folks. Let's be real. He isn't worth that much. An aging DH isn't that valuable. The contract Southside posted is more reasonable. 2018- $10m 2019- $14m 2020- $18m 2021- $18m option ($3m buyout)
  4. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) 5 years $75M is what I think he asks for paid as follows $20M $20M $15M $10M $10M Jose can pack his bags if he asks for that. One great year shouldn't overshadow the last 2 mediocre years. He was a middle of the road 1st basemen who can't field his position. Factor his age into that. No way Jose.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 12:27 AM) Man you are mean. Jose Abreu is on a roll. I love watching him hit. You guys can give me all the advanced stats you want and I'll still say I love Jose Abreu's production. Can you tell me how you remember Jose producing when the Sox were in the playoff hunt?
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 10:01 PM) https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...=Career&t=b .858 OPS against teams over 500 I meant the other way around.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) gonna keep throwing that team dependent strawman out there to feel good about your bad threads, huh We all know what the stats would look like. Jose doesn't hit when the Sox are trying to contend. Always hits like crap when the Sox are still in it.
  8. Jose might be the best hitter in the league when nothing is on the line. He's just killing it. Wish I could see splits for batting when his team is above 500 vs below 500. Tried but couldn't find it.
  9. Damnit. The Sox really need a loss here. Jose sure does play great when there is nothing on the line
  10. His fastball has some decent movement and is around 94. Haven't seen his breaking ball but hopefully he can convert into a reliever, if he can ever hit the stroke zone
  11. Rick Hahn sending Fulmler out there like Old Yeller. Gotta admire his commitment to the tank effort.
  12. You trade Jose if you get fair value or slightly below. Don't sell too low. His value will be higher than it ever will be again by the end of this season. Move him to make room for nicky d and Davidson.
  13. He has looked completely and absolutely lost so far. Time to start worrying yet? I'm sure as hell worrying about him. I know he is young, but I have a good eye for baseball and I'm not liking what I'm seeing. We have to hope he is like buxton and turns it around at SOME point.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 07:04 PM) Lol Really want to respond to this post on there.
  15. QUOTE (Lillian @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) The Nats fans, on that forum, can't hold a candle to the people on Soxtalk. Makes one appreciate the great insight, which this site provides. Thank you, guys. Seriously. I don't take myself too seriously on here, but the knowledge of the futuresox people, the mods, and everybody on here is so impressive. I recommend this site to every big sox fan I know. This place is truly a treat for a die-hard sox fan. Thanks to all you mods and knowledgeable posters who make it great. I've learned so much about baseball from this place.
  16. http://www.wnff.net/index.php?topic=34710.925 Some good stuff in there
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) You're referring to Benetti, right
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) The distance is seven innings since it's a doubleheader. He will go the distance*
  19. Dunning 7 strikeouts through 5 on 58 pitches. What an incredible performance so far. He may go the distance
  20. Dunning 5 strikeouts, 1 hit, 0 walls through 4 on 46 pitches. Filthy.
  21. I'm on the lenyn sosa hype train
  22. Do the Sox sell high in Avi while his value is high? Does any team give up some top prospects for him? I think the Sox should sell high in him if possible and see if you can bet a top 100 prospect+
  23. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 2, 2017 -> 04:21 PM) Ever noticed that baseball players no matter what they look like it's their wives that are often hot. Ya don't say
  24. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) You absolutely cannot call a guy drafted in the first round 2 years ago a bust unless his arm physically fell off. Hell, look at the RF'er on this team right now or the relievers we traded to see guys who looked like crap for years before seemingly putting it together They took a gamble that he could remain a starter but now seems destined to the bullpen. Let him get his feet wet more there with Coop to finish out this meaningless year then he can spend the off season re-focusing on that. I think he settles in as a reliever where he can let his goofy mechanics fly at max effort knowing he only has to get 3 guys out. That's the thing. By all accounts, his stuff just isn't what it used to be. He isn't the same pitcher any more.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) You and Greg should have a cage match I'm fairly confident I would whoop Greg in a cage match, a tables, ladders and chair match, the octagon, or whatever ring you put us in.
