  1. Dunning 7 strikeouts through 5 on 58 pitches. What an incredible performance so far. He may go the distance
  2. Dunning 5 strikeouts, 1 hit, 0 walls through 4 on 46 pitches. Filthy.
  3. I'm on the lenyn sosa hype train
  4. Do the Sox sell high in Avi while his value is high? Does any team give up some top prospects for him? I think the Sox should sell high in him if possible and see if you can bet a top 100 prospect+
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 2, 2017 -> 04:21 PM) Ever noticed that baseball players no matter what they look like it's their wives that are often hot. Ya don't say
  6. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) You absolutely cannot call a guy drafted in the first round 2 years ago a bust unless his arm physically fell off. Hell, look at the RF'er on this team right now or the relievers we traded to see guys who looked like crap for years before seemingly putting it together They took a gamble that he could remain a starter but now seems destined to the bullpen. Let him get his feet wet more there with Coop to finish out this meaningless year then he can spend the off season re-focusing on that. I think he settles in as a reliever where he can let his goofy mechanics fly at max effort knowing he only has to get 3 guys out. That's the thing. By all accounts, his stuff just isn't what it used to be. He isn't the same pitcher any more.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) You and Greg should have a cage match I'm fairly confident I would whoop Greg in a cage match, a tables, ladders and chair match, the octagon, or whatever ring you put us in.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) Cutting a top 10 pick 2 years into his career is not a move. Get him up to work with Coop daily out of the pen and prep to make him a reliever. Kind of a no brainer The dude is a lost cause. They are just bringing him up to bomb and get the #1 pick.
  9. Fulmer? The sox are propelling the tank at ludicrous speed. Fulmer is straight up awful. I have absolutely no hope in him. His stuff is so mediocre and he has no control.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) With your track record on player prognostication, I would watch who you call names. My track record is pretty flawless. I was right about Jose last year, but happen to be wrong this year. Aside from that, my record is top notch.
  11. Isnt he somewhat limited to AL teams or NL teams without a 1st baseman if he insists on staying a hitter, too? Cubs have rizzo and LA has bellinger. It will be interesting to see what an AL team would do with the dh while he pitches. Put a dynamite ss or cf as the designated fielder? It will be fun.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 11:48 AM) I agree. But I'm sure if those guys somehow are awful as they adjust to the bigs we'll have tons of excuses for them. We can point to Robin Ventura's horrific start to his career, wasn't he 2 for 50 or something like that; we can point to Avi taking many years. But let's say Lopez Giolito and Kopech are all as bad as Fulmer right now, wouldn't that be alarming? I'm already a believer that Rodon will be excellent next season. To be honest, only a dolt who has no knowledge of these prospects would predict these guys to be as bad as Fulmer. The only way I see these guys pitching like Fulmer is if they are pitching while injured. His stuff is nowhere near what those guys have. You are just conjuring up garbage hypothetical situations again, though.
  13. Forgot Greg's all time favorite waiver acquisition, Alex Rios.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) The Kopech / Collins stuff point me on the path that the Sox want to get as many guys as feasibly ready up next year to get some of their "lumps" early so that they can truly be positioned to turn a corner in 2019 (and presumably so the front office has an idea what they have vs. don't have) as part of that process. I presume we'll see Eloy on a similar timetable as put out for Collins (presuming Eloy keeps doing his thing). In terms of Fulmer, no surprise there. I do wonder what their plan is for Seby. He is in the AFL this summer and will start in AA next year id imagine. I'm sure the Sox are looking at a platoon with the two catchers. Seby crushes lefties and Collins crushes righties.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 10:42 AM) From today's red line radio podcast, white sox dave dropped some bombs: - Sox have given up on Fulmer as a starter - Kopech on the Kris Bryant plan next year - Collins up to majors by ASB next year - Adolfo injured his hand punching wall after 3 strikeout game Always frustrating seeing a self induced injury like that. Especially hurts after the break out year kicker is having.
  16. What I don't get about Tim Anderson is how he is so damn slow out of the batters box. It really bugs me seeing him get beaten on grounders that somebody with his speed should beat.
  17. Anybody know how coaching works? Does each team sending a hitting and pitching coach or something?
  18. No doubt Brooks Boyer is lobbying to have him up opening day, but I doubt Hahn budges. Kopech will not be up the first few weeks.
  19. Glad Jose took notice of my criticism and improved. I've been saying for ages that if he loses weight his production will improve. Wah-lah, turns out I was correct. Keep it up Jose.
  20. I will add TA and Yolmer to this thread when I'm on my computer. I'm ashamed I left them off
  21. Any way they time it so these guys so they won't hit their innings limit right before the playoffs? I'm not saying they'll make the playoffs, but the AL central is pretty bad outside of the Indians. You never know what can happen. Eloy and Kopech will be force their way up no doubt.
  22. Title: sox marketing technique - acquiring attractive players. Is Brook Boyer using his sway to get a great looking team? It's no secret that having good looking players can help build the female fanbase. The blackhawks had some great looking guys (sharp especially), and they were adored by the female fans. Kris Bryant is a heart throb and is a hit with the ladies. The sox have been assembling quite a good looking squad. Lets take a look at what we got. Matt Davidson and Nicky Delmonico are no brainers. Movie star looks with eyes you can get lost in. Yoan Moncada is just straight built and his hair rivals Bryce Harper's. Lucas Giolito is nothing to scoff at. Then you have news of this guy potentially making the starting rotation next year 3 of these guys were acquired in the offseason in trades. Delmonico got called up this year and Davidson finally earned play time this year. All of these spects are up and Kopech will be up next year. It's no surprise these players were traded for and/or are getting rushed up. The FO knows the value having an attractive team can have. These future sox teams will earn a very good female following. Looks sell and Brooks Boyer knows that. The Sox have stockpiled good prospects who are easy on the eyes. These future teams have the chance to get a LARGE fanbase. Edit: It translated my title for some reason and i cant change it Edit by mod: Fixed the title
  23. Yurchak 2-2 with a 2b and 3 bb's... Hot damn
  24. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 11:48 PM) I suppose he's a good coach - everyone says he is. Aside from Q and Sale he hasn't had much material to work with. Still, I would be fine with some fresh blood. Of course, I would be fine with fresh blood in a lot of places, including the Front Office. Esteban Loaiza. Nuff said.
  25. "I think the only way the smile on Mendick's face as he crossed home plate could have been bigger is if he'd been able to slide and get his uniform covered in even more dirt." Sounds like he's got about a 70 for grindiness.
