  1. The dude is putting up an 800 ops season while playing great defense in CF ( according to advanced metrics), and he can play all OF and infield positions. He has 3 years of control left after this year. Does Hahn work his magic and try for a team friendly extension? Do they try and flip him in the off-season/next year? Both? The guy is looking like a 3 WAR supersub. I'm not sure how to accurately value the versatility provided by a supersub, but it is quite a valuable asset.
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) I had Zavala on my midseason list but this is craziness. He went from underrated to overrated pretty quickly. He's 24 years old at High A and there's definite concern that he's not a major league catcher. He can hit but in no universe is he the caliber of prospect that Zack Collins is. These things aren't mutually exclusive. Every time Collins gets mentioned, Zavala doesn't need to be brought up. They will likely share time in Birmingham next year as well. Zavala is 23 actually
  3. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 10:06 PM) The thing with Giolito is when you catch him on a good day he looks overwhelmingly dominant. The hitters don't stand a chance. Those have been far and few between, but it leaves an impression when you catch him on the right day. Maybe it takes him a few years to really figure it out, but those flashes of dominance leave a lasting impact. Definitely sounds like Gavin Floyd
  4. Should have been zavala getting promoted. Collins has been pretty underwhelming this year. Lousy move Hahn
  5. Ozzeroo, folks! Go Oz! A helluva player and a helluva manager!
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) The trolling has gotten bad. I think the tinfoil hats are causing short circuits. Where's the money going? Is it not lining the chairman's pockets? The payroll will be so low that they better spend spend spend a few years from now, or they better have some fantastic giveaways and events at the park next year
  7. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 12:13 AM) Cash to keep the lights on another season Cash to line Reinsdorf's pockets
  8. If the sox arent in playoff contention by 2019, the pitchforks will be out for Rick. This division blows.
  9. Regardless of stats you keep eloy and Kopech down until 2019. Kopech needs to build innings up more anyway. Don't start the clock on them
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) "ReyLo Game"? Ugh, GMAB. Just terrible. Oh my! The horror! My eyes! ReY Lo
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:58 AM) he should clear waivers with ease, but I'm not sure anyone wants that contract even for a PTBNL You guys would be similar to Billy King of you were GMs. Hahn could flip me for a healthy return.

  13. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) No need to fan the flames. It is just absurd. I can't believe this line of thinking still exists. If you rebuild you trade all vets worth anything. Sale or Eaton should be exempt when they bring the best return ? It's not personal it's business, pure and simple. Sale and Eaton started it. The sox FO viewed them as toxic and wanted them out. After trading them, it really started the rebuild. That toxicity affects business BTW. Sale had no respect for authority. The FO wanted him gone. There was no point in holding on to Q or others with such a bad team.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 07:17 AM) Ya almost no one here wanted Sale traded just because of him being "unprofessional." This is just silly. Regardless of what the board thinks, that is why He was traded in the first place. Unprofessional + the laroche saga is what started it all. FO was sick of him. Same with Eaton.
  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 01:31 PM) Gotta love Hahn's honesty there. He's right of course. Jose hardly ever sees fastballs middle in anymore it's usually a steady diet of junk low and away. It's sapped a large amount of Jose's power. Jose is still a good player, he's just not the star we hoped he'd be after his rookie season. Thank you. ^he heard the interview too I see.
  16. QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 01:11 PM) Interesting. What was the exact quote? "I think in a sense the league has figured Jose out". Varied slightly, but it was along those lines.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) Did Hahn say anything interesting? He said he thinks Jose Abreu is overrated. Nothing else of interest
  18. It's a shame Viciedo is no longer on the team
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) Another guy who for whatever reason is not well liked on this board. Was on pace for 30 homer season. I know, his advanced stats suck and will always suck. If somebody else got hurt, ruining a productive season, there'd be a ton of sympathy. Have you seen some of Davidson's bombs this season? Crushed. Definite highlights in one of the worst seasons in Sox history. This all can drive a person crazy. You don't need to tell me how bad Davidson is BTW. I've read all your advanced stat posts. Yeah, he sucks. I know. You must have loved white sox-era Adam Dunn if you like Matt Davidson this much
  20. What am I missing about seth beer? I get he had a monster freshman year. His numbers this year just don't stick out as 1st pick worthy as a 1st baseman.
  21. Tito polo out up 16 hrs, 37 sbs, 811 ops as a 21 year old CFer in A and A+ last year. Seems like he has good tools. Any reason he was left off?
  22. Tito polo is aomebody I wouldn't mind seeing. I think he is a bit underrated. CFer who hit 16 bombs last year. Has some good speed too.
  23. 2-3 with a dinger, a sb, and a BB in his first game back
  24. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) That's how I view them as well, although I think Fulmer ends up being a quality late inning reliever, which has a lot of value too. 60 FV Kopech 55 FV Hansen Lopez Cease 50 FV Giolito Dunning Burdi 45 FV Guerrero Stephens Adams Fulmer Flores Clarkin Only a 60 for Kopech? Isn't this out of 80?
