QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 03:53 PM) I was told his value is 0 because he is a garbage player...no? You and whoever you were talking to just don't understand baseball as much as I do apparently

QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 03:39 PM) Hi guys, random question, don't follow too much baseball currently: Is there a chance that the White Sox trade Abreu? I'd imagine he'd net a nice prospect from a team needing some hitting power at the deadline. I'd love to see him go. Hahn would be crazy not to. I don't see Abreu's value being any higher than it currently is honestly. I expect him to regress to his numbers of the past two years by 2018, considering he will be another year above 30. You most definitely shop him and trade for what you can get.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:34 PM) He has fun and is a good veteran presence. Plays hard all the time. I am a big fan of his. Great attitude, loose, well liked. I'd like to see the sox keep him so they have a good veteran to lead these young guys during the rebuild. Put him at DH or 1B.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 10:41 PM) Also appears he now has no confidence in his ability to steal. I still can't believe they haven't moved him closer to the plate. I still can't believe they haven't moved him behind the plate

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) I've been wondering the same thing. I'd love to hear the scoop from one of the prospect gurus. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) Si, muy bueno.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) Either do I. And Lillian is a girl... That's the point. There was no ownage, similar to this situation. It never happened.

Seems like he is only good when there is no pressure on. He always blows the first half before the sox are essentially out of it. His resurgence came in a rebuilding year where there is no pressure. Lets see how he does when the sox are contending. Or maybe we'll trade him when his value is high to a contender.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 08:20 AM) This is a great point. It's tough to save too much at #11. That pick value was $4.2 million. I bet they sign Burger for like $3.4 or $3.5 million. Sheets and Gonzalez likely get full slot. The savings are going to Kincanon and Skoug. Went to the same high school as Kincanon. I'm friends with his brother in FB. I can confirm that he got signed overslot. Not sure the exact amount though.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) Wasn't there just one thread where a couple people were going at each other? Wasn't it just two people even close to personal attacts on here of late? I could be mistaken but one thread doesn't seem like a big deal to me. As far as trolling ... I guess those poor saps (like me; there really are only 1-3 people willing to take on the masses) who have a differing view of controversial issues and a different view of Trump are in big trouble in terms of getting suspended. Cause I'm sure 70 percent of my posts are deemed either trolling or met with consternation/anger. It's not easy being a person with a differing viewpoint. The majority tends to want his/her opinion to be the only opinion and many times differing viewpoints or takes on current issues (the violence, ISIS, Maher, Griffin, Rush, Hillary, Bernie, Trump, the white privilege gangs) and people are met with accusations of trolling and/or baiting and that's sad. People can have different views and refuse to succumb to the more popular view. The mods have the right to ban anybody they want, though. There is a difference between having a different viewpoint and having the blatant wilful ignorance and refusal to learn. You display the latter. Most places consider it trolling, but I think people honestly don't know if you just are doing it on purpose or if you actually don't understand it.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) I don't work 9-5 hours. I hope you have some good nicknames lined up. Athough, nothing can ever beat HoT FiRe.

Yolmer is making this decision much more difficult.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 05:27 PM) I feel like I'm the one person that still likes Hawks (even though gets on my nerves) in addition to liking Jason (despite the corny stuff). Give Jason time. Sheesh. I agree with you. I enjoy listening to them both for what they provide. Neither are perfect, but I can enjoy both. It really doesn't bother me that Hawk is retiring. Good for him. He's ready to hang it up and let the young gun take over full time. It is easy to tell Hawk's game calling ability has regressed with age. He is just getting too old. Hawk has been figured out by Father Time.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 27, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) DFA worthy, safe to say he's been figured out. Wrong, wrong. and his weight has been down all season, even when you started this thread. Ron, you are hitting .000 with your scouting acumen. Time to give it up. I got the adam Engel call up correct. .500 bare minimum. Lets wait until the season is over before we make a judgement on Jose.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 27, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) .887 OPS. 1.6 bWAR, 1.4 fWAR, and he hasn't hit a homer at home yet. DFA was a good call Ron. DA always putting words in other people's mouths. I said the way he was playing was DFA worthy. Never said the sox should DFA him. About time he lost some Damn weight. It appears to have served him well. No excuse for being overweight as a professional athlete. Thanks for doing what you're supposed to do Jose.

I'm excited about him, but remain skeptical. Hitting only .221, but am OPS of 775. 8 homeruns. Has been unlucky with a babip in the .260s.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 25, 2017 -> 10:57 PM) Good post. I still am not into the white privilege thing. Don't like the moniker White Privilege. Don't like the bullying tactics to get you to admit it. I'd rather be beaten to a pulp by a gang of thugs telling me to invoke my "white privilege" than say I have it. Of course I've had some opportunities because of my race and my parents helping me. However there are plenty of rich assholes who have never worked a day in their lives. They've had it MUCH easier and better than me and they are white. There are also African Americans whose parents are rich surgeons and they will be set for life and their kids will be set for life. Should they thank privilege of any kind? What good does it do to say we're privileged. There are hard working people of all races. There are lazy people of all races. In a perfect world the hard workers get rewarded privilege be f***ed. Did you get this idea from the PC principal south park episodes?

Pardon me if you think this goes in the minor league forum. I haven't heard much about Engel lately. I think he deserves some clamoring about. This dude has quietly hit 7 HR's so far in AAA. He is 25 and is a big time athlete. The guy has plus plus speed and can be a top notch defender in CF. He currently is sporting an OPS of 757. On the flip side, he is only hitting .218. On the other flip side, his BABIP is quite low at .261. His career BABIP is .330. The reason I post this in the main forum is because I think this dude is somebody that could be called up soon. Do you think the Sox leave him there for a while until an injury forces their hand? This guy could be a pleasant surprise for the sox.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 23, 2017 -> 07:54 PM) Give it a rest man. Going after people really isn't going to make people not disagree with you any less. I'm just messing around. I brought those jokes upon myself with my stubbornness and hardheadedness. Just not a big Abreu fan and I think he is grossly overrated around here. His demi-god status is reaching trump levels. It's ridiculous.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2017 -> 07:41 PM) 4 homers allowed by Fulmer. His season stats went mediocre quickly. Stuff has just deteriorated from college. You are spot on. Seems like he lost a few ticks on his fastball since college. Hopefully he can regain his stuff out of the pen.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 23, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) Obviously, his numbers are '86-worthy at this point. Maybe other managers have him figured out? I expect better out of an admin. I guess I was wrong.
