  1. Yolmer has shown to be an above average fielder and his bat has been awesome this year. How does this impact what we do with moncada? If yolmer keeps it up, how can they move him?
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2017 -> 09:05 AM) They are worse than Jose Abreu. I'm sure Tatis Jr. will be worse than Jose Abreu. In your world, that has to be near impossible. Nice diversion bro. Nobody clamored Brandon Allen as a future all-star quit spreading fake news. Nobody ever said Brandon Allen was a future all star. Maybe you could find one overzealous fan who said Ravelo. That's some funny stuff right there.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) So $25 million is nothing if Tim Anderson sucks. $50 million is nothing if the Sox spend that to sign Luis Robert and he doesn't pan out, but $25 million for Shields is a franchise changer. As far as I am concerned, Tatis is a suspect until proven otherwise. For a fanbase that complains, rightfully so, about an organizations inability to produce hitters, we sure do whine a lot about the guys "who got away". Everytime they trade a position minor leaguer, he is a guaranteed stud. Yet reality shows, they are just as bad with other teams. If Tatis is good as Keith Law said he is, correction, as good scout told Keith Law who has admitted he had never seen Tatis play, then the trade will be really bad. Why don't we wait to see how that turns out? It started with Chris Carter on this board. Someone actually complained in 2008 when Quentin was in the mist of a possible MVP, how trading Carter for him would come back to haunt the White Sox. Then Brandon Allen was a guaranteed future all star. Semien, Ravelo, Thompson, all stars. They are all high k low OBP guys most below average in the field. No big loss on anyone yet. Eventually someone will hurt, but I wouldn't hold my breath it is Tatis. He is hitting .250 with a .712 OPS in A ball and a 31.33% k rate. Yes, he's 18, and young for the level, but if he truly is a top 50 prospect, IMO, more should be expected. To me, one of the first red flags for guys deemed top prospects is the excuse young for the level. It was the excuse for Courtney Hawkins several years ago. Obviously, Tatis is doing a bit better, but Hawkins won't ever come close to the major leagues, and probably won't make, at least doesn't deserve to make AAA. The really good ones find a way. I'm pretty sure very few people said any of this.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 11, 2017 -> 09:11 PM) I can't believe Baltimore and Washington, who can't be blowing games, won't overpay big time for Robertson NOW. Our lousy team does not need him. If this is a rebuild, I hope Hahn has a plan regarding getting 3 studs for David Robertson. For Hahn to land 3 studs for Robertson, his plan would have to involve kidnapping and ransom I'm afraid
  5. Abreu should have never been in the field. He is absolutely atrocious out there. When he is hitting, he can pass as a DH. When he inevitably goes into his awful slumps, he just isn't very valuable.
  6. Count on the mods to derail a thread. Keep up the good work boys.
  7. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) You do realize that only about 100 players in the entire history of major league baseball have a career OPS above .873, right? That's some good cherry picking. Jose has been in the league from ages 27-30. Those are pretty prime years. I doubt it's all that impressive when you compare OPS from the ages of 27 to 30.
  8. The thing with Todd is 1. Had has people behind him who can take over. Jose, while nothing special when you account for his defense, has nobody knocking on his door. 2. Todd doesn't have the weird cult following that Jose does. jose could bat .200 for the season and youd have people here defending how great he is.
  9. Nicky D is knocking on the door, and matt Davidson needs ABs. What we do to move Todd? Keep playing him for trade value?
  10. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 6, 2017 -> 08:52 PM) If Adams could maintain these K% and BB% numbers in upper levels he'd actually be making himself into a decent prospect again. But that's a big if. I wonder if anything has changed with him mechanics or stuff wise. He's only 21. Still very young. I think people are a bit too down on him. He's facing some tough competition and holding his own.
  11. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 5, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) Not sure exactly where to put this but those in charge can move it where they deem best. This kid apparently has been projected by some, to be the Sox #1 pick in June. He's having an incredible spring high school season: http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/jordo...hree-home-runs/ Personally I don't much care who the Sox draft, as long as they are positional players who have the potential to hit at the big league level. probly belongs in the minor league section and in the minor league catch all thread
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 4, 2017 -> 10:25 PM) This from the only person who signs his name to each post. Ironic Roasted.
  13. I love how people bump these threads when Jose goes on a hot streak. His hot streaks are followed by the inevitable awful cold streaks Jose goes on. When Jose goes cold, he goes COLD. The dude just isnt that great of a player.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 07:41 PM) In what world is a .820 OPS pedestrian? In the world of 1st basemen.
  15. I mean, he did say he wants to die in the booth. Isn't this year or the next year his last? Maybe he is ill and is going to go out how he always dreamed of going out, in the booth.
  16. QUOTE (Donaldo @ May 2, 2017 -> 06:41 PM) Starting pitchers only play once every five days. No matter how good Chris Sale was/is, he has ZERO impact on 80% of his team's games. Making that trade was the right thing to do. I'm not a big fan of this logic. Not to say the trade was bad, but the whole % thing. Sure, starters only play 1/5 of the games approximately, but they affect those games a whole lot more than any single position player. A good starter can also just dominate a playoff series. I'd be interested to see if there is any study/statistical analysis on this subject.
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 22, 2017 -> 05:35 PM) That is some Quinarvy type ownage there. Nice work. Ownage? If by ownage, you mean him confirming the ownage done by me against all the doubters. I made that thread last year early in the season, and Jose went on to post a pedestrian .820 OPS. This just confirms my prediction
  18. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) You got beat last year when you created this thread. You tried it again....ON THE SAME DATE this year....and got beat again. Give it up. I got beat? I don't think so. I was right. Pitchers have adjusted to him, as can be seen by the .140 drop in his OPS from his rookie campaign to last year. Its so clear I was right in this but people here seen to be in love with the butcher over at 1st base posting an .800 OPS.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) OPS back over .800. wRC+ 127. The pitchers have now forgotten that they figured Jose out. That's so impressive for a first baseman who can't field his position
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 05:05 PM) Yeah Robles isn't happening. Never say never
  21. It would have to be an Addison Russell type deal. Robertson + Miguel gonzalez + for him honestly. I'd love to get Robles.
  22. I'm watching the barons gameday right now. I dont know if the the pitch location they show on there is inaccurate, or if the ump is bad, or maybe both. It looks like Cooper is absolutely painting the corners, but they're getting called balls.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) They should offer a place on the form for people to increase their own tax rate if they're not fans of the plan. I'm sure there will be a lot of a dissenters and the government should make it possible for them to be taxed 50%, 60%, 80% or whatever it is they wish the system would tax individuals. That way everyone is happy. Are you trolling? It doesn't take a genius to see how stupid this argument is. I don't even....
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 02:47 PM) The proposed tax plan also doubles the standard deduction (making a couple's first 24K in earnings tax free) and eliminating most itemized deductions which are typically utilized by the wealthy. Also gets rid of the 3.8% Obamacare tax and the estate tax so family's will no longer be robbed by the government for the familial earnings when there's a death in the family. I'll wait to see the actual plan before making my judgement on it but from what's leaked it looks to be good for the economy. If you like environments where businesses are more likely to thrive, grow and hire, you'll like the plan. If you like the government and would prefer they take more hard earned money from Americans to use inefficiently, this plan probably isn't for you. How are we going to pay for the massive military increase and the trillion dollar infrastructure plan?
  25. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 22, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) Jesus, to the DATE! Great pull, haha. Wow that's pretty crazy lol. But yes, I have been saying it since last year. People tore into me for saying it, but it turns out I was right. Jose isn't the same as he was. The league has adjusted to him, and his age has something to do with it in sure. The dude just has no pop in his bat anymore. Huge disappointment. Reminds me of gordo's great start and disappointing finish.
