GT 8/23: The Return of Alex & Anthony
ron883 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in 2013 Season in Review
QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) You're such a joke, it's unreal. I'm convinced you're just an 05 bandwagon jumper who knows nothing about baseball. either that, or a troll -
I'm waiting for a popcorn worthy debate. Garpax debates usually aren't too hard. They've done a great job, and it's easy to prove.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) It gets better. "blast players in the ass" holds 2 different meanings, depending on if you're talking about a 2005 white sox player or a different player
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) As far as the "quitting" issue, I don't really care that he left the team with 2-3 games to go or whatever it was. Who cares? The season was over by then anyway. So you are ok if any player or coach quits on a team during the season? Would you grill Rios or Dunn if they did that?
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) This response makes me angry. Garpax has done a great job in the draft and signing players. Are you one of the fans that wants to make a big trade at all costs?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) He was a good player and good ss. He probably should have taken more walks, but aside from that he was damn good. Based on what? Just because you love him doesn't make him a good player. He was garbage on offense.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) How can you be a Sox fan and say those things about Ozzie? Pretty harsh. I mean this is big boy sports. We won it all finally cause we had a big boy manager. Who gives a f*** about all that other side s***?? I thought all his antics were funny as hell, or should I say entertaining as hell. Amen. Ozzie Guillen led the White Sox to a WS title. If it's so easy, why hasn't anybody else done it since 1855 or whenever our last title was?? Who cares about his kids? Who cares that he quit with a couple games left? Who cares that his ego is huge? I love the guy and yet fully realize his ego is big as U.S. Cellular Field. If I met him he might tell me to go f*** off. Who cares?? He gave me a title. Thank u Ozzie. So you admit he quits on the team, but you remember him so fondly? I don't even understand. So by this logic, any manager/coach who wins a title in any sport is free from criticism for their entire career, no matter what happens? Oz was a terrible manager, a quitter, and a jerk. I can't believe you don't even care that he quit on the team, yet you lament other sox players for doing much less. Why hasn't anybody else done it? because it takes a lot of luck, and great management above. Is the manager who brings the Cubs their first title the GOAT?

The score was recently talking about some celebrity softball tournament going on, and they mentioned ozzie was playing in it. my first thought was "i dont want this piece of crap returning to chicago." The dude is completely unprofessional, packed it up early with the sox, and has a complete jackass of a son. everything about this guy leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This old article pretty much sums up a lot of my feelings. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/10/24/baf...aseballs-ditka/ how do you think he will be remembered? I hope that that people will dislike him for the piece of crap that he is due to the new age of media. The dude is completely ungrateful to the sox, and wasn't a major piece in the world series IMO. Will he become a chicago legend like ditka, or will people remember him for how awful he was in the later years?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 10:24 AM) Makes me think of GarPax which makes me angry. No. whats wrong with garpax?

Anybody Found The Last Couple Days Easier to Watch?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) How the hell is a No. 2 draft pick going to magically make us better when in many years the No. 15 pick turns out to be a better player than No. 2? are you a troll? -
"off the field" issues blamed for Ramirez's high error
ron883 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 09:29 PM) Well, I should change my opinion of Dunn, then. I have despised him as a player but this shows why he's been so bad. Now we know the reason Dunn has been a trainwreck in a Sox jersey. Best wishes to the Dunn family. Family first, always! I find it strange that you can compare Dunn with the Sox to a trainwreck, but you would never compare Ozzie with the sox to a trainwreck. -
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 12:07 AM) They guy's been rated as 70 hit / 70 power. Who cares how fast he runs or if he can jump over a car? Damnit, you're right. Sox need to get Joey Gathright

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) Um, 2010 Gold Glove winner at SS. come on bro. everybody knows this is a joke. Jeter's gold gloves and Kobe's all-defensive first team votes are some of the biggest jokes in sports. many undeserved years.

Wimpy sitting in with Hawk for Twins series
ron883 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 14, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) Damnit, I thought the title said Wimpy replacing Hawk for Twins series ditto. stone and wimpy >>>>>>>>>>> hawk and wimpy > hawk and stone hawk just blows, but his chemistry with wimpy isnt bad. -
A white sox season without Hawk, however that may occur.
-
Can we just get these weaklings on vigorous bulk programs in the offseason and see what happens?
-
Depends on how Erik Johnson does. If he comes up and is a stud, I think the sox have to go for it. Our rotation would be very solid, and for a long time. Sox would have to sign one of McCann, Ellsbury, or Morales.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 01:29 PM) I figure the Sox will win 30 percent of their home games and only win 20 percent of road games the rest of the season. Where will that put them? lol do your own math
-
Sox have so much cap space.. I hope they go for kendry morales and Jacoby Ellsbury. I prefer Ellsbury to Choo due to the age honestly. He is also a true CFer. We can trade de aza for a halfway decent prospect hopefully. Erik Johnson should be up next year too. We would have a solid pitching staff and an improvement all around. That team could compete fairly quickly, depending on how our prospects advance of course. I'm not sure if Hahn is looking to retool by next year already.
-
This doesn't hurt the rebuild much IMO... The sox have so much money to spend. They need to sign somebody. Hopefully that somebody is Ellsbury. I don't see him getting massively overpaid like Cano will. Who knows though.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) We had tons of money to spend regardless. No reason for a salary dump here Well, now we can get a guy like Jacoby Elsbury for hopefully a similar salary to Rios. More value at a similar price.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:08 PM) Not sure but im guessing this is the case. No reason for us to send cash otherwise. Compared to his mega season a few years ago. He will still get a good haul, but the sox have money to spend
-
Wow... The sox have a LOT of money to spend. I wonder if theyll go for Jacoby while his value is low.
