  1. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Plus, unlike many, I'm not throwing in the towel on Garcia just yet. He's 24 and played 1 full season in the majors. I still think he has a lot of potential and want to see what he can do in year 2 before dumping him. But I could also see adding players while developing. I wouldn't mind him moving to LF, Melky to DH, and signing one of the big 3 OF's to play RF. As for Frazier, I wonder how highly thought of Trey M. is in baseball circles. Maybe Trey, Beck/Danish, and Micah could get it done. I remember during the season, someone asked Keith Law about Trey. Law said he could be an above average 3B hitting and fielding.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) Some thoughts... You don't have Nick Delmonico on your list - you think they skip him over to re-sign Alfredo Simon? Tago to AAA is interesting I could see that, though it's a pretty big jump. I thought Devon Davis was released. Jarvis had a poor showing in Great Falls. It seems hard to believe, especially since he is still pretty young, that they'd jump him to full season and leave behind guys like Strong and Mendick. And I have a hard time seeing Sikes Orvis getting a full-time DH role when there are positional prospects who need the reps. I did skip Delmonico. Oops, my mistake. That said, I think he starts the year in AA at 1B with Trey at 3B. If Delmonico does well, then a quick promotion to AAA. I could see Barnum repeating A ball again. Gotta challege Tago. I believe he's turning 24, so I think putting him in AAA in a hitters park would be a good test. Was Davis released? I thought I would of caught that. He made it up to AA before struggling there and going to Kanny. For Jarvis, I think it's good to challenge him. I think that team can be really good and really young for that level.. It would be a good test, and you know Sox like to be aggressive with assignments. In terms of Orvis, you're right, I just saw some power that he could bring to the team.
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 01:01 PM) i don't know, i am not game in trading him for anderson. He's not advocating he would trade Anderson for Ethier. The question is, trade options that wouldn't cost Anderson or Fulmer.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) Why would the Reds also give up Cozart? It would be the equivalent of us trading Adam Eaton...if you want to be realistic, Mesoraco's more of a possibility but also extremely unlikely for a different set of reasons. Because they're rebuilding? They used Suarez at SS after Cozart got hurt, put an OPS of 780.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) This tells me the White Sox do NOT see Kevan Smith or Rob Brantly as likely to be successful major leaguers, even as backups. If they thought both could likely do that well, they wouldn't have gotten Sanchez. Two of the three will be in Charlotte, one will be gone. I'm guessing Smith is gone. He's older than all 3 and didn't do much in AAA last year in a hitter friendly park.
  6. Sign OF Justin Upton 6 years/128 million Trade OF Avisail Garcia, SP Frankie Montas, SS Tim Anderson, 2B Micah Johnson to the Reds for Todd Frazier and SS Zack Cozart Reason for the trade for Reds: Anderson and Montas hurt, but that is the cost to bring in guys that have 4 years of control together. Micah and Avi really don't have a spot on this team due to bad defense/under achieving play. Could also argue that Montas could end up in the bullpen. But, this trade does give the Reds 2 top 100 prospects, a player they could fit in their OF, and a 2B that may replace Phillips. Reason for the trade for Sox: Frazier brings that middle of the lineup pop that the Sox desperately need at a premier position. Cozart is a really good glove that can hit a bit better than Saladino. Adding him to the deal makes losing Anderson a little sting out of it. The deal could also flip Avi and Thompson if Reds prefer him. Avi could platoon with LaRoche at the DH spot. CF Adam Eaton (L) LF Melky Cabrera (S) 1B Jose Abreu RF Justin Upton 3B Todd Frazier DH Adam LaRoche (L)/Trayce Thompson 2B Brett Lawrie C Alex Avila (L)/Dioner Navarro (S) SS Zack Cozart Bench: 2B/SS Carlos Sanchez (S), UTIL Tyler Saladino, C Alex Avila (L)/Dioner Navarro (S), 1B Adam LaRoche (L)/OF Trayce Thompson Pitching staff is the same as it is now. Thoughts?
  7. Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 3m3 minutes ago Minor-league signings: JP Arencibia to Phillies, Hector Sanchez to White Sox.
  8. Brian Bilek ‏@ChiSoxraBBit 26m26 minutes ago @AaronLemingNFL Signing Cespedes to nine digit contract is not a good idea for anyone so Upton IMO. They like Upton's game. Comes down to $$
  9. Best match of the night by far was the tag match. That was unreal
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) Nightingale hasn't mentioned the Sox since in connection with Upton That's my point to GreatScott, Merkin hasn't mentioned that Sox don't want to give up picks since that next day. We've heard nothing since then.
  11. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 06:15 PM) Merkin mentioned that the Sox really want to keep their draft picks. Cespedes seems like the guy they would be interested since he does not cost a draft pick. Last time Merkin said that, our own RaBBit & Nightengale mentioned that the Sox are/were interested in Upton.
  12. Houston and Young have really played well the last 7-8 games.
  13. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) I would disagree. The Sox rarely hold big contract players on short leases. Adam Dunn is a prime example of that. LaRoche will be no different. Look how long it took Robin to bench him last year vs. LHP. Disagree. Dunn sucked his 1st year in a 4 year contract with the Sox. He was serviceable the next 3 before being traded to Oakland. Difference between LaRoche and Dunn? LaRoche is in the final year of his contract, Dunn had 3 more years, but he at least put up decent/good numbers those last 3 seasons.
  14. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Was Nieto released? Signed with the Marlins
  15. Just wanted to say I love this forum and all types of conversations we have. Easily the best forum for Sox fans. Thank you
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) ^^^ I like that plan, but I don't understand the purpose of the Putnam trade and I really have no interest in LeMahieu. Lemahieu could be a good #2 hitter, pretty good with the glove, still young, and cheap. Fits what the Sox are doing while improving their club. This move puts Sanchez in a utility role, spelling Saladino and LeMahieu when they need some rest. Putnam trade is to get Kahnle on the team. Putnam doesnt throw hard and tends to leave his splitter up, especially towards end of last season. DBacks are going for it, and need some bullpen help. Figured get a draft pick for him. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) Where did Trayce go? I don't know lol. Back to AAA, or he could be traded as well.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) If you would have asked a week ago who Ken Giles is, I wouldn't have a clue. Good season, but never cared to watch a Phillies highlight. Heard Luhnow this week say he expected Appel to pitch for the Astros in 2016. Guess snot. Giles is really good. Just played for a really bad team. From the Phillies perspective, getting Velasquez, Appel, and Oberholtzer could fill out 60% of their rotation this year lol. Hellickson, Nola, Velasquez, Oberholtzer, Appel. EDIT: Scratch that. I forgot that acquired Matt Harrison and Charlie Morton
  18. Pretty big surprise, but OF Derek Fisher was not involved in the deal. He was replaced with SP Mark Appel. The last 3 #1 draft picks are not with their current team. Wow

  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) So, Brett Lawrie... Good move for the Sox.
  22. We don't have to worry about the Cubs until we meet them in the WS. This was inevitable.
  23. I'm gonna go watch Sox World Series highlights now
  24. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 06:29 PM) This is the White Sox we are talking about whose biggest contract ever handed out was $68 million over six years. They are going to double that amount to give to Justin Upton? That just is not the White Sox. They'll have to do it eventually. Why not now?
  25. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 05:56 PM) Get rid of him. Fourth outfielder. Package him up for 2 years of the elite Todd Frazier and his .660 home stilted OPS. Or, sell high (for once!) and trade Eaton for a hitter and put Trayce in center. Or keep Eaton and put Trayce there anyway How people don't want to give this guy a chance is beyond belief. If one month of success of Trayce Thompson who hasn't had real minor league success can land a 4 WAR player in Todd Frazier, then yes you did it every single time. Yet, you wanna trade our proven lead off guy, for a guy with 100 at bats. When you mention is 660 2nd half OPS, you always forget the full body of work that he's had the last 4 seasons, just to fit your narrative. Just stop it.
