  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 02:26 AM) no offense but i agree with the idea that price is worth his contract. he help shows the fan base including the season ticket holder and the fans with premium seating that they are out for business. we help in more local adv coming in, to the stadium adv, players adv, team logo selling adv, local tv commercial adv, more new corp adv money.... and help with the tv games for out of st fans. plus many more i can't even think. the rtn on the invested money will be a whirl wind. this is why i said and mention signing a Heyward, plus getting an additional sp on the cheap, and 1 very smart and savvy trade to replenish the system, will do wonders for the sox, maybe not like bos. the sox needs a big influx of positive media to do what they can't afford like getting of a Price contract. They showed that last year too with the signings of Hanley and Pablo. It's Boston and Fenway park, they sellout every game. The Price move isn't a PR move to get people in the seats, it's to make their ball club better, but at what price (no pun intended)? David Price is not worth that contract. Luckily for Boston, there's an opt out clause after 3 years.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Why would it effect a deal with the Rockies? They weren't in on Price. They need pitching. Q's value goes up because he now is even cheaper than what aces are going for now.
  3. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 06:49 PM) Wait, let's examine this. Their value is sky high........so we're not going to trade them? I hope Hahn is willing to examine any possibility, every scenario, for improving this ballclub. If someone wants to overpay you hand either over immediately. And before the inevitable, " we'll never receive fair value," you base every trade proposal independent of others. What will we receive? How many of our holes are filled? This is why us hardcore fans are the best and worst for trade scenarios. We understand our ballclub more than anyone else, but we're so blinded by fan loyalty and our own biases that we can't remove ourselves and make an impartial evaluation of this team. Unless there's a substantial and unexpected offensive upgrade across the entire team, we won't compete. Now, how can we improve that? Platooning Avila and Flowers is only a small step. Granted, there's time to upgrade and I'm not critizing Hahn (yet) but he's not going to build a playoff team based on FA. Someone needs to go, and more than likely, it's going to be Quintana. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) the best case is to move a sp for those pieces to fix the team. esp in getting the rtn of some young pitchers as well. They won't trade them because what team is going to pay the required and deservedly so asking price of both? Sox would not get equal value in trade for either of them because it would cost a ton to get them.
  4. Like others have said, this deal makes Sale & Quintana's trade value sky rocket. They are not trading either of them.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) the dodgers can let zach walk to the gaints. talk about the rivalry. the northside will sign shark if all else fail. or maybe cueto. Either one of these will happen for the Cubs I think.
  6. Like others have said, this deal makes Sale & Quintana's trade value sky rocket. They are not trading either of them.
  7. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) I thought I read on Rotoworld he has an opt out after 3 years. I think it is his and not the club opt out. Yea, I agree 38 is a bit too old for that contract Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 13m13 minutes ago David Price will earn $90 million the 1st three years of his contract_$30 million a year_when he then has an opt-out in his contract.#RedSox You are correct, sir

  9. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) i know what you mean, ray would be excellent, but the org need for a cat and 3b and even a good dh if 1b is manned, is what i have been looking at. What does this mean then? QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) again, think of what i am talking about. we are discussing players to keep an eye on for the next season ncaa games. you are not going to get out of this was some lame arse excuse. give it up. come on really kool and tell all who is posting you know what you are talking about, take the BPA. real lame. if you have anything to add about players to keep an eye for next yr, belly up. I do have some players in mind for all 3 draft picks that we will get in the top 50-55. And my "excuse" that I gave about the Rockies is plain fact.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) if you really don't have anything worth while to add in the conversation, don't respond. It was worthy to add because you have to go with what you feel is the best player at that point. Not just a position. I remember at the draft last year, they interviewed the Rockies GM after they took Brendan Rodgers. He said they took a pitcher but he wasn't their highest rated player overall, but a team need. They took Tyler Anderson. Kolton Wong, Blake Swihart, and Joe Panik all were picked after Anderson that were rated higher.
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) i know what you mean, ray would be excellent, but the org need for a cat and 3b and even a good dh if 1b is manned, is what i have been looking at. with pitching, i am a minority here, but i still like puk as the #1 player / sp in the whole draft. dang it, i can't wait for the freaking ncaa baseball season to start. the cape cod was really uneventful for me. We've been over this. You draft BPA, no matter the position in the first couple rounds. Draft for need in the later rounds.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 10:03 PM) Not sure I have ever heard a more quiet crowd for a main event. This product is awful Because that main event was awful. No one interesting besides Ambrose. Way too many people.
  13. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) Well Ryan Cubit was our most recent RC but yea, big blow to the staff. Not shocked at all by this though. Oh my bad, I thought Golesh was the RC. He was at one point correct? I know he had huge influence in recruiting.
  14. Illinois loses Alex Golesh (recruiting coordinator) to Iowa State....
  15. QUOTE (Boogua @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) Sounds like Thorne might need surgery and will be out for the year. How snake bitten is this program? Terrible news for Thorne and just bad luck for the program. Hopefully Thorne can get a 6th year waiver. Illinois has 1 scholarship left for 16, so hopefully he is granted a waiver. Thorne/Morgan Black/Finke/Williams Hill/Jordan/Nichols/Austin Nunn/Coleman-Lands Abrams/Lucas/Tate Pretty good depth.
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) I'm just hoping they are exploring every avenue to try and acquire Frazier first. He's worth considering giving up some good prospects for. I completely agree. You'll get 3 picks in the top 50-55 as well to replenish the system as well. And those players could all have higher ceilings than some traded for Frazier.
  17. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 02:36 PM) Alexei was 11% and I think he could be had for less than 10 Mil. Alexei is also 5 years older than Cabrera, and Cabrera had a OPS greater than 700
  18. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) Most active for me..Blue Jays..Mariners..Giants..Red Sox..Reds..Cubs..Nationals..Dodgers..White Sox intriguing.. https://twitter.com/karlravechespn/status/670974430328324096 Interesting. Wonder what direction they're going in. I'm guessing adding payroll.
  19. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 2m2 minutes ago #Tigers in discussions with Jordan Zimmermann, sources tell @ken_rosenthal and me, with multiple people saying talks have become serious. Bring it.
  20. Kane with a PP goal. Extends streak to 19 games. Longest American streak. If you wanted to know the record, its 51 games by Wayne Gretzky. In those 51 games, he had 153 points lmao
  21. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) Asdrubal Cabrera is a strikeout machine( not good at the 2 spot) who drove in less runs than Alexei. You want to give him $10 mil a yea???. Steve Pierce hit below .220 and you want to double his salary. He hasn't made 6 Mil in his 9 yr career and you want to give him 6 for 1 year. Are you a relative of his?? 19% K rate for Cabrera isn't bad.
  22. Illinois down 1 at half against Iowa State. Playing well. Iowa State is really good.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) Illinois extended cubit. LOL L. 2YEARS Unreal. Illinois is ran by morons.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) You don't even have Sanchez listed at 2B. You have Cabrera there. You're right. I should say he could spell Saladino and move Cabrera to SS.
