  1. I wouldn't be opposed to firing Groce mid season. Need to find a coach though to recruit that 17 class. The 17 class is stacked
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) i think alot of the arguments against my rant was in defense of what you just outline on dano ... but i will go on this counter, the second line was and is b/c of the resurgence of Kane and Panarin. they are the reason why that 2 line if doing fantastic. accept it that is the main reason. i agree with Dano, maybe a another yr in minors unless he too will ask for a trade. now the hawks have 4.5 mil on bickell and 3.3 on daley to get off the books. oh btw, asking bickell or stating that he needs to be brought up, it would not work with ref to salary cap. do the math. Yes it will because by sending him down only relieved 950K from the cap, so calling him back up and sending Dano down will be a 200K difference.
  3. Another blow up scenario. Resign RP Matt Albers 1 year/3 million Resign C Geo Soto 1 year/2 million Trade SP Chris Sale, CF Adam Eaton, and C Tyler Flowers to the Red Sox for SS Xander Bogaerts, C Blake Swihart, CF Mookie Betts, 3B Rafael Devers, and SP Henry Owens Trade 1B Jose Abreu to the Mets for 1B Lucas Duda, SP Noah Syndergaard, and SP Gabriel Ynoa Trade SP Jose Quintana and 2B Micah Johnson to the Diamondbacks for RF Ender Inciarte, SP Archie Bradley, SP Joan Lopez, 2B/SS Chris Owings and SP Brandon Shipley Trade RF Avisail Garcia to the Phillies for 3B Cody Asche Trade LF Melky Cabrera to the Astros for UTIL Nolan Fontana and SP Asher Wojciechowski Trade CP David Robertson to the Blue Jays for SP Justin Maese and SP Clinton Hollon Lineup: CF Betts RF Inciarte (L) SS Bogaerts DH Duda (L) C Swihart 1B LaRoche (L) LF Thompson 3B Asche (L) 2B Sanchez/Owins OF Shuck, C Soto, UTIL Saladino, UTIL Sanchez/Owings Rotation: SP Syndergaard SP Rodon (L) SP Owens (L) SP Bradley SP Danks (L)
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) you do make a good point, my question is more rhetorical in this sense. AA line and #2 line is all done by 2 key players, Kane and Panarin. now the question, would the hawks have had the success if another center was there??? does sacrificing the success of line 1 was worth the indecision of giving Saad and did the expectation of Dano was unrealistic..... yes to all. Disagree. Kane with Anisomov has taken his game to another level. Richards or Handzus were never the net front presence that AA has. Richards or Handzus never had the speed that AA has. I think Anisomov has better play making ability than both of them as well. AA is a true #2 center. Dano is 20 years old. It's kind of unfair that we expected that Dano would replace Saad's production right away. Teuvo struggled his first year. It happens. It's the potential and skill that Dano displayed last year with Columbus that we expected right away. Just didn't happen with a different and more complex system with the Hawks. With that said, I think Dano should get sent down and Bickell back up. Dano has no business being on the 4th line getting 5-6 minutes a night. Have him play on the 1st-2nd line in Rockford and get more acquainted with the system the Hawks play.
  5. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 08:29 AM) Make no mistake, we're not making two mutually exclusive arguments. Yes, Patrick Kane is getting paid market value, however he's still overpaid relative to his contemporaries, but that's all part of the deal. Great players are the most valuable on their bridge contract. The rest of your post is spot on. While everyone is so happy that Panarin is outpacing Saad and Sharp in their new homes, the fact is, the Blackhawks are out two solid forward pieces. The first line looks pretty weak post-Saad. There's no surprise Q is trying to shift the lines. Anisomov has been outstanding this season though, so it does balance it out a little bit. We definitely miss Saad more than we miss Sharp.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 08:27 PM) Cesaro apparently out 4-6 months Tear something in his right arm?
  7. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) Flacco out for year? ACL On the final pass play of the game too.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 21, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) Isis apparently has plans to attack survivor series. Where'd you hear that?
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) Wendelken I get. Surprised they didn't protect Tago. And Brennan has about half a season's innings in A+, seems like a wasted add to me. No one is picking him. They can still protect him. Might not be just them 2 at this moment. Sox haven't officially announced anything yet.
  10. Brewers trade SS Luis Sardines to the Mariners
  11. Mariners DFA'd LHP Danny Hultzen. #2 pick in 2011. Shoulder injuries have ruined his career. Worth a risk?
  12. QUOTE (Special K @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 11:36 AM) From what I saw of LaRoche last season, I'm fairly certain he's the worst player in history of baseball ever. I do not think it's possible to have a bounce back season. Don't think we can trade him either unless the other GM somehow went crazy. Best to let him rot on the pine, move Avi to DH to focus on hitting, and give Trayce a shot. Lol, step back from the ledge. LaRoche isn't the worst player on the Sox. LaRoche has had a pretty decent career, he was just bad last season.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) I hope the Yankees realize that Castro isn't a SS long-term. More likely a 2B. They have Gregorious at SS anyway.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) Well this is my erratic idea that i came out with last week or 2, with a few corrections. i know i may get flamed or maybe not. I am going with an idea it can be done. I am going to make this as realistic as possible. However b/c of the idea of the sox system is needing prospects and players who can play in the majors while the young prospects will develop. ^^^^ Trade ^^^ ~~ To Stl - Melky - Q - Robinson Leyer ~~ To Sox - of-S.Piscotty - of-Harrison Bader - cat-Mike Ohlman - 3b-Paul DeJong - sp-Sandy Alcantara ~~ To Pitt - now i have a feeling that Pitt wants to rebuild and get younger players while not sacrificing theirs. Furthermore, they have younger players ready to step in... 1 at 2b and the other in the outfield. Plus 3 mil for Laroche salary. - sp-Rodon - rp-Webb - 1b-LaRoche-salary swap - sp-Thad Lowry - sp-Myles Jaye ~~ To Sox - 1b-Pedro Alvarez - of-Starling Marte - of-Willy Garcia - ss/2b-Cole Tucker - sp-Chad Kuhl - sp-Yeudy Garcia ~~ To Cincy - 2b-Micah Johnson - of-S.Piscotty - 3b-Matt Davidson / change of scenery - sp-Erik Johnson - of-C Hawkins - C. Beck - N Sanburn ~~ To Sox - 3b-Todd Frazier - cat-Tucker Barnhart - sp-Cody Reed - 3b-Gavin LaValley Free Agents signing. - sp-David Price - sp-Mike Leake - 3 option yrly or buyout after 3yrs - sp-Alfredo Simón - 2 yrs option 1 optional pitcher - sp-Ryan Vogelsong 1 yr option 1 with a buyout. around the horn cat - Flowers bu Barnhart 1b - Jose Abreu 2b - Sanchez ss. - Saladino 3b - Frazier Dh - Alavarez of Eaton Marte Thompson sp Sale Price Leake Danks Simon Rp the same except Webb. money coming off the salary. anywhere from 33-36 mil being added, 19 mil in big salary now add the Free agents. crazy but i like it. That Quintana deal is pretty bad because you don't get enough for Q. Packaging Q with Melky diminishes Q's value because then teams have to take on Melky's contract. Why are so many players involved in these trades? Why trade Rodon? You probably added about 60 million in payroll as well with the trade of Frazier and signings of Simon, Price, and Leake
  15. Deadspin ‏@Deadspin 1m1 minute ago Andy Van Slyke hints that Clayton Kershaw wants Yasiel Puig off the Dodgers: http://deadsp.in/cn8DmPd
  16. QUOTE (Dubzinski rules @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) My choices for next year's minor league starters are: AAA: Fulmer, Montas, Beck, Marin, Jaye. AA: Danish, Guerrero, Barnette, Brennan, R. Leyer A: Clark, Erwin, Almonte, Adams, Lowry Low A: Wheeler, Quintero, Quijada, Solórzano, Comito Left out or moved on from: Heidenreich, Cose, Valerio, Banks, Einhardt. Still have hope for: Peralta, Thompson, De La Cruz, Martinez, Easterling. The Winston Salem rotation looks stacked. AAA- Fulmer, Montas, Beck, Jaye, and Heidenreich AA- Danish, Brennan, Guerrero, Blackmar, and Dykstra (Leyer in the pen) A+- Adams, Lowry, Almonte, Erwin, and Thompson/Wheeler A- Martinez, Solarzano, Peralta, Banks, and Quintero
  17. For those wondering if Walker can play 3B, he last played 3B in MLB in 2010.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) That's probably true, but an outfield spot will open up for them once Fowler leaves. Avi would be a much cheaper (albeit less talented) alternative to Heyward/Upton/Cespedes/etc Almora
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) I wonder if the Cubs would trade Baez for Avi and Danish/Beck/etc? They have no need for Avi with their glut outfielders.
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) We have a young 2b with potential who plays better defense than Walker. No need to use assets there with so many weaknesses elsewhere. Hero worshipping.
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 11:28 AM) and since Eminor wants to do something, does that mean no one has an idea that may be different??? What? You said that no one mentioned to give Avi away for free or for junk? If you do get rid of him, use him as part of a package to get major league talent like a C or 3B.
