  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Jim Bowden ‏@JimBowden_ESPN 15m15 minutes ago Dodgers narrow MGR search to: Gabe Kapler, Darrin Erstad, Dave Roberts and Bud Black: http://espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-office/insider/post?id=11704 … That is an ugly list outside of Bud Black.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) All that said, If I'm the Sox, I have no problem having him here for another year as I fully expect a bounce back and him to go back to being the quality player that he is. I wouldn't mind either to be honest. If he does accept, then EJ is definitely out the door.
  3. All of the players that haven't announced will probably be announced right at 4.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) That'd actually be pretty amazing. HHH did offer they had position open for someone to join. But yeah highly highly unlikely. I wish it would happen. Cesaro is my favorite wrestler and I think he deserves a push ever since he lost to Cena for the US Championship.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) Ok....if news like Weiters accepting a qualified offer is going to get burried in this thread, I'm going to close this thread. Real news shouldn't be embedded within here and this is turning into a gigantic catch all that is difficult to follow. I think you're the only one that complains about this lol. But as others have said, Wieters was a name a lot of guys wanted for the Sox.
  6. Billy Gunn fired for elevated amounts of testosterone at a lifting competition
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 12:42 PM) I see him as a back end starter. 180-200 IP, but more in the 4.25 to 4.75 range. Still better than Samardzija, at a fraction of the cost!
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) Some of you are delusional. Aybar has consistently been an above average shortstop and now you are saying Saladino can be as good. Please. Saladino is most likely a solid utility guy but to take the leap to being better then Aybar, one of the better shortstops in the game, come on. I am not saying we should trade for Aybar, but I'm also not delusional to think that Saladino is better. I think Aybar is a good player and would make the Sox a better team, that said, he's older and I am not sure strategically where the Sox are headed this year (contention vs. rebuild). I think Saladino can put up a 639 OPS with better defense at SS than Aybar
  9. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) I'd love for the Sox to trade for Aybar now. 1 year stopgap until if/when Anderson is ready. Rather have Saladino or resign Alexei then trade assets for Aybar.
  10. QUOTE (Scubadentist @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) OK, Rasmus just accepted the QO and is the first to ever do so.... I'm panicking at the thought that Samardjiza is going to accept it too!! What time today does he have until to accept it?... 5pm eastern time
  11. Today is the deadline whether or not Samardzija accepts the QO.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 11:21 PM) And that's exactly what the idea that 1 or 2 big FAs or trades will improve this team 10-15 games is. I'm trying to figure out how the Reds, loaded with heroes, suck so badly. Anyway, if you want to sign one of your hero outfielders, find away to move Dunn out, Melky can DH, and shift Eaton to LF and put Trayce in CF. That way we'd have a hero + excellent OF defense. The 2nd half of the season they started 5 rookie pitchers. What is your off season plan again?
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) i bet hou is fuming over Rasmus accepting the QO. Why? Only a one year deal. He was an essential player during the playoffs. He'll be starting in LF next year probably.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 06:44 PM) 2 big league players with huge potential and a top 50 prospect. That article was intriguing due to the Red Sox link, as Bogaerts/Swihart seems to be a fantastic starting point. Boegarts, Swihart, and Moncada?

  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) Damn, I would've given the Braves Montas, Adams, Danish, and someone else for him. Yeah that's ugly. No way.
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) Seems like the Braves did really, really well. That's a big haul for an all-glove player. Eh. Newcomb is really the only really good piece. Ellis is their #2 prospect, but he had a 3.92 ERA in AA at the age of 23.
  18. QUOTE (staxx @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) Wow. I expected it would take more. Buyer's market possibly.
  19. Angels literally have 0 position players that are on the cusp of the majors. I could see one or two of Heaney, Skaggs, and Newcomb moving in the deal.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) Simmons traded to the Angels. Newcomb has to be involved.
  21. Updated mock Extend Qualifying Offer to SP Jeff Samardzija- he declines, Sox get a comp pick Decline option on SS Alexei Ramirez Resign: RP Matt Albers 1 year/2 million Sign via Free Agency: SP Trevor Cahill 1 year/5 million Trades: White Sox trade CF Trayce Thompson and SP Erik Johnson to the Marlins for OF Marcell Ozuna and UTIL Derek Dietrich White Sox trade 2B Micah Johnson and 1B/3B Nick Delmonico to the Padres for C Derek Norris White Sox trade RF Avi Garcia, SP Frankie Montas, and 3B Trey Michalczewski to the Reds for Todd Frazier Rotation/Bullpen: SP Chris Sale (L) SP Jose Quintana (L) SP Carlos Rodon (L) SP Trevor Cahill SP John Danks (Until Fulmer is ready) RP Scott Carroll/Jacob Turner RP Dan Jennings (L) RP Jake Petricka RP Zach Duke (L) RP Matt Albers RP Nate Jones CP David Robertson Lineup: CF Adam Eaton (L) 2B Derek Dietrich (L) 1B Jose Abreu 3B Todd Frazier LF Melky Cabrera (S) RF Marcell Ozuna DH Adam LaRoche (L) C Derek Norris SS Tyler Saladino (Bridge until Anderson is ready) Bench: OF J.B Shuck C Tyler Flowers 2B/SS Carlos Sanchez 1B/3B Mike Olt Thoughts? A lot of trades and no major signings. We trade some prospects to get some core pieces (imo), yet we get 3 picks in the top 50-55 for the next draft.
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) But if they are going to be selling off assets and rebuilding, why would the take on $13M of a dead money and take up a position from a young player who could use the experience? I am willing to bet they would rather just send over $10M than take LaRoche and his $13M. Unless they truly think they can flip him in July for a couple of prospects. Well, I just looked at their prospect list, and they don't have 1B prospects unless they use Willin Rosario or 28 year old Ben Paulson there.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) I don't think the Rockies are in win-now mode. Unless they decide to play a rookie at first, LaRoche for one year isn't bad. Exactly my point.
  24. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) I would do that, but I don't see what interest they would have in LaRoche, other than just not having to send over any money in the deal I guess. They do have a hole at 1B. LaRoche has had more success in the NL, and on a 1 year deal, if he does well, they can flip him at the deadline. And like you said, it balances out the money.
