  1. FA prediction: SS Alexei Ramirez 1 year/7 million with club option Trade prediction: SP Erik Johnson and CF Trayce Thompson to the Marlins CF Marcell Ozuna and UTIL Derek Dietrich
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) I look at it this way...... if Cargo was a Free Agent right now, would you offer him 2 yrs/$37M deal? If not, then you certainly don't sign that deal AND give up players to the Rockies to do it. If you would do that deal, then what players would you be willing to relinquish to sign that FA deal? Or maybe you use the idea that the Rockies would kick in some cash, maybe $10M. Would you sign him for 2 yrs/$27M? If yes, then what players would you be willing to give up to secure that contract. That's basically how I'm trying to rationalize a trade for Cargo, and can pretty much be applied to any trade with significant contract coming back. LaRoche, Montas, Micah Johnson, and Beck for CarGo and Lemahieu?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) I really believe the Sox are going to look to make a big splash with a trade, and then use free agency to fill holes at a much lower level. With rumors coming out of not spending big money in free agency, I agree with you that this off season could trade filled for our beloved.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) I think the Marlins make a lot of sense for Erik Johnson. Marcell Ozuna, Derek Dietrich and Martin Prado could all be players of interest for varying prices. I was thinking of the Marlins as well. Dietrich and Ozuna are good names that I think EJ can fetch. I like Dietrich because I see him as a Ben Zobrist type. Proposal: Erik Johnson and Trayce Thompson for Marcell Ozuna and Derek Dietrich Fair? Who says no?
  5. Don't want Cespedes, but this tells me that they might of given up on Avi.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) Sox have never been afraid of moving an arm they want to get out in front of. McCarthy and Santiago both come to mind. Johnson was incredible in AAA though so maybe they can sell him off that. His stats look very good but they really don't do him he justice. He was the best pitcher on a rate basis as well as on a prolific basis. Knowing how Hahn operates, Johnson was getting scouted when he pitched in September. Given the spontaneity of pitchers (relative to hitters), I would prefer the Sox move pitching for young bats and sign lower tier SP(s) like Y2Jimmy0 suggested. The offensive landscape in FA lacks fits outside of the top guys who's price rules them out. It's interesting, the Sox have never really bought pitching ever. Obviously they excel in making pitching, but they've never even signed even a mid tier SP since who? Jamie Navarro? They've filled out the rotation with scrap heap guys like Paulino, Humber, old Freddy, old Colon and if you want to go back far enough Esteban Loaiza. Sox are probably looking at E. Johnson, Quintana, Montas and maybe Fulmer as the guys to potentially move to fix the offense. It seems like they want to move Johnson, and they've never been that outwardly confident about him, but past him, I think whoever they move is dependent on return more than the individual pitcher but I hear the Sox are considering anything and everything. There's an argument that all four guys could be at the height of their value too. Johnson was just best pitcher in AAA. Quintana is 9th in fWAR since 2012. Montas coming off the last season he'll have a Mid tier options: Fister Latos Rich Hill Brett Anderson Cliff Lee Scrap heap types: Beachy Cahill Bud Norris Who do you think EJ can fetch in trade for a bat? I'd be interested in Latos, Cahill, and Beachy as potential 5th starters if EJ is traded. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) I'd be hesitant to trade with Atlanta. They've been getting everybody in every trade. Hart joined that org and quickly improved it across the board in several trades. It seems like they might have even taken Friedman for one at the deadline. I love what he's doing there. I agree. Hart has turned that organization around. In a couple years, they'll be a top that division.
  7. I'd love Andrelton Simmons, but the Braves are asking for one of Matz, deGrom, Thor, and Harvey. I'd figure the Braves would at least ask for Rodon and Anderson and that is way to steep of a price.
  8. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 52m52 minutes ago Agents' perception: Few (if any) teams w/protected 1st-round picks interested in spending big now. PHI,CIN,ATL,COL,MIL,OAK,MIA,SD, DET, CWS.
  9. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/11/11/lev...ebuilding-mode/ Wait, are we in a "rebuild" now?
  10. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) Thats not a great scenario. I think the Sox pick up Reyes in a deal with the Rockies for some pitching and include LaRoche to offset some of the money and give Colorado a one year stop gap at 1B. Then they go out and sign a couple OF's in Jackson and Parra and have Melky DH. Saladino can man third base, he is plus defensively there and would allow the Sox to save some money and monitor the trade market for a better alternative than whats available in FA. The defense goes from really terrible to at least middle of the pack. And Reyes probably just got a bit cheaper. Do you know he was just arrested for domestic violence?
  11. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 06:05 PM) Jarvis Jenkins Thank you, my bad. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) I like Adrian Amos, but I don't see him being called a top 10 S anywhere. If he is that'd be seriously great though. He has been excellent in run defense all year, and I believe I read a stat a couple weeks back that he's only allowed 2 catches from opposing players when guarding them.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Rich Hill blows? We'll see. I know where you're coming from, but he will be 36 years old starting next season, and I think a 2 year contract is a huge risk just basing off of 4 September starts . In the last 6 years, he hasn't even pitched 100 innings, I know he was a reliever for some period of time, but he also had health concerns. I just would rather have Danks as the #5 and get his salary off the books after this year.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) Who would you give up for him? Michalczewski, Montas, and Danish
  14. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) @Ken_Rosenthal: More on #Reds: Team will be open-minded on offers for Frazier; Votto, Phillips both have full no-trade protection. More difficult to move. I want Frazier.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) I think Hill has changed. As another guy said above, his mechanics now are completely different than what they were when he was with the Cubs. I'm not saying that he'll put up amazing numbers next year like he did in his last 4 starts in 2015, but I'd bet a significant amount of money that he'll put up better numbers than Danks next year. That's fine. He's still older and and I'd rather spend that money on something else.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) Both are mediocre, but I'd much prefer Hill at $8 million a year than Danks and his $15+ million yearly salary. I'd rather have Danks for just one more year at his salary than Hill for 2 years and his 4 good starts this last September.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) Renteria and Sparks are now officially added. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/664185838964641792 Such a great hire. Love this move.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) Results-wise, its marginal, but as a team and organization, the changes are immense and obvious. I know what the Bears are trying to do on offense and defense and its cohesive and applied no matter the personnel. Its been years since we had that. The players alone that Pace has brought in all look to at least be contributors in some sort of way. Goldman, Langford, Grassu, Amos (arguably already a top 10 safety), Janoris Jenkins, Pernell McPhee, Sam Acho, Kevin White (when healthy)
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) Owens beat Titus. Miz lost to Ziggler. That's right, my bad.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) Why would the Rockies want Quintana? Trading Arenado is a "blow it up" move for them. Quintana would instantly become their #1, plus I'm sure Sox would add some top prospects to go along with it. They aren't exactly going anywhere with that pitching staff.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) My boy!! Though it'd realistically have to be Sale for Arenado I think Quintana + can get Arenado.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) Is there a full bracket? http://www.wwe.com/shows/survivorseries/20...nament-28164052
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:22 AM) Baseball America posted the full list of Minor League Free Agents. This does not include the players the team has already re-signed. Here is the link, and here is the White Sox list... RHP: Tim Crabbe (AA), Jesse Crain (AAA), Kyle Drabek (AAA), Raul Fernandez (AA), Arcenio Leon (AAA), Brad Penny (AAA) C: Adrian Nieto (AA), Dallas Tarleton (AA) 1B: Chris Jacobs (AA), Neftali Soto (AAA) 2B: Drew Garcia (AAA), Michael Johnson (AA), Tony Thomas (AA) 3B: Chris Curley (AAA) SS: Justin Sellers (AAA) OF: Tyler Colvin (AAA), Christian Marrero (AA), Matt Tuiasosopo (AAA), Dayan Viciedo (AAA) The only name there that I'd like to see them re-sign for sure is Adrian Nieto. Secondarily, Raul Fernandez and Christian Marrero are not bad guys to have around. The rest are, to me, completely replaceable. Not going to comment on Viciedo. I'd resign Drabek, Nieto, Curley (been in the org. forever seems like lol), and Viciedo
