  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 08:13 PM) Can't complain about Doug Eddings ever Not even mad about Cubs winning tonight. Insane pitching matchup advantage Very true. Love Folty, but I think he'll make a damn good closer.
  2. Rizzo with a 3 run HR off Folty. The HP umpire has been absolutely brutal in the first 3 innings. Already has missed about 12-15 calls.

  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) All that's left for me then is what other team has gotten swept in two 4 game series in the same year and when? I think if Sox lose tnight Robin should be fired. That would be an 0-8 record in a pair of 4 game series. You can't win divisions doing s*** like that. Team is too erratic. What good is a damn draft pick? It's not like the Sox are close to winning anything with draft picks. Well if the Sox get a top 10 pick and say sign Jason Heyward or Justin Upton, they would give up a 2nd round pick, instead of a 1st round pick.
  5. Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc 10m10 minutes ago Chris Kuc retweeted Craig Schwer I actually heard Skinner's name mentioned as a possibility for the #Blackhawks at last year's trade deadline. Someone asked what he thought about the rumors of Skinner. Odd.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 11:21 AM) Video of Anderson's hr http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=390449783 That was beautiful

  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) Assuming he continues this year at this pace, he's going to hit FA having been a 20 fWAR player over the last 4 years, topping out at 6.5 fWAR in 2012. His only down year out of that span he put up 3.4 fWAR but that was also an injury shortened season. When Robinson Cano signed his 10/$240 deal, he was worth 23 fWAR during the previous 4 seasons. No injury lost season, but he signed that at his age 31 season. When Prince Fielder signed his 9/$214, he was closer to Heyward's age, starting his age 27 season, but he was only worth 15 fWAR the previous 4 seasons. Heyward turned 26 two weeks ago. He's younger than Fielder was when he signed for 9/$214, he's easily outperformed Fielder over the past 4-5 seasons, his performance is closer to Cano's and he's ~5 years younger than what Cano was. That brief exercise of comparing where Heyward's contract should fall relative to those two just scared me enough that I don't want to look any more. On top of those numbers contracts have continued to grow since those examples were signed. From that you wind up with an argument that he should easily beat Cano's money. You make a good point, and we all know that defense is valued, Heyward is far less explosive with the bat than Fielder or Cano while both play pretty exceptional defense to go with their power bats. Heyward has only exceeded an OPS above 800 twice in 6 years, his rookie year, and in 2012. This year he is currently at 780. Cano and Fielder have only had OPS' under 800 twice each in their entire career. Defense is valued, but it's still an offensive game and Heyward doesn't produce enough like Fielder or Cano do/did. Now, with the price of contracts keep going up, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a contract like that but, I just don't think he will command that much money. I could see 8/175 for Heyward and I think the Sox would be ok with what he could bring to this team defensively and offensively. Remember, Sox did bid on Tanaka at 5/150 I believe and that's without throwing a pitch at the MLB level and at the age of 25. I would sign Heyward for 8/175 or 7/155
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) Corresponding move for Utley? or something else? (actually important for us since we're playing them) Well they did call up one of their top prospects yesterday in Cowart. Real good defensively, alright with the bat. So, probably just that.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) Let's just say Steve Stone isn't a fan of Frank Wren, who's been mentioned as a possible GM for Boston. He ripped him on the radio today. What he say? What is the deal with Frank Wren as well? I've seen a lot of people rip into him recently.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 22m22 minutes ago Sources: Utley situation with #Phillies coming to head. Trade possible today. Lol @ Rueben Amaro. I'm going to guess the Angels.
  13. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) I'm fully on board with getting a top-10 pick and then making a run at Heyward in the offseason. This is what I have been saying since we fell out of the race. Jason Heyward makes this defense and line up better.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) Just because the organization hasn't had much successful fixing hitters, it doesn't mean you stop trying when the cost is virtually nothing. Exactly, he was highly regarded, he just hasn't quite figured it out yet. Change of scenery could help him.
  15. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) I thought that he only had to go on the 40 man roster, not the 25 man. I thought the only way he would have to pass through waivers would be if he is out of options. That was my thought as well. I'm pretty sure he still has options as well
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 11:18 AM) I still fail to see how the past offseason created inflexibility in regards to the framework of this team over the next few years. The whole purpose of the direction they took was to balance today with tomorrow. While I was not a fan of the LaRoche signing, it won't cripple us. The other deals are not blocking anyone who's knocking down the door at Charlotte, with the possible exception of Johnson, who can be brought up in less than 2 weeks. I just can't understand why the fact that they took a shot on '15 and missed has some devastating consequences for '16 and '17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) Good post Shack. We see eye to eye on this. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) Totally this. I completely agree. The pieces we gave up will not hurt us in the end. The comp pick we get for Jeff can be better than all 4 players we gave up for Shark. Phegley is a career back up at best. Bassitt is a 5th-long man Ravelo is a 1B who would be blocked by Abreu Semien, his offense is legit but his defense is really really bad. When the Sox acquired Jeff, the intentions were to lock him up long term. However, that didn't work out in the end but we can still get a comp pick for Jeff that will usually be in the 26-35 range AND then we can save that money we would of used on Jeff to use on a hitter in free agency (Upton or Heyward)
  17. Loved the Tago and Delmonico interview because them 2 have battled with tough times in previous organizations and now are enjoying success with the White Sox. I think both of them will start in AA again next year. Danny Hayes has always had great plate discipline, I can see him being at AAA next year as he turns 25 I believe. Love that Danish accepts that he has endured some failure as a pro and wants to keep improving. I just love Tim Anderson.
  18. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) He settled in but giving up 2 bombs is unacceptable. Lol how is it unacceptable? He technically has another QS because of the error that led to the 4th run. Rodon gave up 2 bombs yesterday, yet lost 2-1. Is that unacceptable? Please.
  19. Ben Badler ‏@BenBadler 1m1 minute ago Dombrowski's history of trading away his best prospects to help the big league team makes it fascinating to see what he will do in Boston. Cue the "Chris Sale to Boston" rumors again this winter.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) Oh God... You know its going to happen. Moncada, Devers, Owens, and Margot would have to be in the deal for me.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) It would be great if Reinsdorf lets him interview there. I don't even think he let him do that last winter. If next year ends up with no Kenny and Buddy, and a new coaching staff, I'd say that would be a huge change that needed to happen. JR did not let KW interview for the job, you are correct there. As for the bolded, this needs to happen to reboot the franchise imo.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) Looked safe on replay... Nah, they got him.

  24. Bob NightengaleVerified account ‏@BNightengale The Toronto #BlueJays still need a president to replace outgoing Paul Beeston, and #WhiteSox Ken Williams would appear to be perfect choice. I can't find the old thread on this so here it is again.
