NCAA basketball 2014-15 thread

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 15, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) I'd like to see Illinois go big today. Don't play either Tate or Starks and go with a lineup of Rice/Nunn/Hill/Colbert/Egwu. Wisconsin doesn't pressure the ball and it would help us on the defensive end. Well there's 5 minutes left in the game so that's not happening lol. Only down 10, they've fought all game. -

Nashville just got better by getting D Cody Franson and F Mike Santarelli -
I wish HS stats were made available. I'd really love to see how Russell, and Cameron do.

I definitely agree that the new baseball change is good for the college game. Anyway, go Illini!

QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 14, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) That's like having a wet dream of the girl who would be coveted if she lost 25 pounds... I am not ripping you though, this is interesting. lolol that's hilarious. But yeah, I think getting him and having a couple rehab starts in AAA and possibly replacing Noesi would be ideal. Is he going to be ready for ST or was it more mid season for him? I always get Beachy and Medlan's TJ surgeries confused in when they are going to be back.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 51m51 minutes ago MLB had Nick Delmonico as No. 17 #Brewers prospect headed into 2014. Was suspended 50 games in July for positive test for amphetamines. Suspended in July? So he'll miss the first couple weeks?

QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) 3B Nick Delmonico https://twitter.com/MattEddyBA/status/566277463580233728 He'll get a late start to his season. Under suspension for amphetamines. Interesting pick up. 2 years ago he was ranked 4th in the Orioles system then traded for K-Rod. I was interested for him thinking we can get him for Thornton or Crain at that time. So I kind of like this.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) I'm assuming no one would claim him, lol. Flowers would definitely get claimed.

Hawk on the Score with Mully & Hanley this morning
GGajewski18 replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 07:44 AM) Hawk came on the score this morning at 7:35, im sure the podcast will be up later. He had a lot of his normal platitudes(best offseason by a GM i have ever seen, etc.), but one thing stood out to me, he said that he does not think Hahn is done. You can say a lot of things about hawk(many of them true), but he DID call this offseason last year. Here is to hoping he continues to be right If it's a minor piece like a 4th OFer or some bullpen depth then I could see it. Other than that, a trade for a 3B, 2B, or C, I just don't see, unless something happens in ST at either of those positions (hopefully no injuries). -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 10:14 PM) Aaron Cosby told not to play basketball this week, looking like he won't be back next year. If he isn't back, not a big loss in my opinion with the additions of Jordan and Coleman-Lands. Wing depth is crazy as it is. Opens up another scholarship though which is huge. -

I don't get why they called up Hartman and Cumiskey. Unless a trade is coming, I don't see either playing which is sad because Hartman needs to be playing like Teuvo. Maybe Shaw is getting traded -
Next Wave: Pitching Prospects outside the T30
GGajewski18 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) OK I'll try to prompt some discussion... which of these 13 names in the article are you highest on, and why? JB Wendelken. His peripherals are great, if he has better command of his pitches meaning that he can hit his spots better than leave it over the middle of the plate with his 11H/9IP, then I can see him rise through the rankings. -
It was earlier in the off season that the Sox did almost acquire Adam Lind, but was stated that the price was too high. Given what we know now, would you have traded for Adam Lind or sign Adam LaRoche to a 2 year/25 million deal?

I was thinking about creating a SoxTalk fantasy baseball league on ESPN. Anyone care to join?

Wheeler is one of my favorite sleeper prospects. I really think he can be something in the show. Hope he continues developing well. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) Jesus he's a taken a big leap from last year. He's a pretty slight lefty that most scouts assume is destined for the pen. Not sure I would want to use an early pick on that profile alone but I am sure some team thinks they can keep him a starter. But yeah he used to play for a neighboring town and he was a much smaller kid when we were younger. He saw a growth spurt in high school and all of a sudden he was a top player in the area. Yeah I saw a video of him, he kind of pitches like Rodon as he doesn't finish all the way. But I am excited to see that Illinois team this year. Should be pretty good.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) So the Chicago radio scene has the cub coming in second in the James Shields sweepstakes and the cubs getting Hammels for a couple of good not top 100 prospects. Yeah I saw that on the Kap and Haugh show yesterday. Kap thinks the Cubs will trade Castillo, Wood and a couple prospects not named Baez, Almora, Edwards (obviously not Russell or Bryant) for Hamels. Lol what a joke.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Imagine being able to sign a 29 year old free agent 3B with a career 130 wRC+ and 14.9 UZR/150 to a 9 year, $129.5M deal tomorrow. What do you suppose $19.5M owed 8 years from now is worth in present day value? QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) Have you looked at his production lately? He's had one full season where he was under a 5.5 fWAR player and that was last year. It was by far his worst season and he was still a 3.4 fWAR player. Pablo Sandoval was also a 3.4 fWAR player last year that has dealt with injury and weight concerns his entire career and he signed a 5 year, $90 million contract. Longoria's contract is just $121.5 million guaranteed over the next 8 years. He is still well worth his contract and would get more on the open market. Pretty much proving my point, that yes, I would overpay for Evan Longoria. He would bring so much to the line up and defensively. He would give even more protection to Abreu with Melky and LaRoche. Not saying it will happen, but if the Rays are out of it again by July, I can see him becoming available and the Rays starting young all over again.
