  1. QUOTE (scs787 @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Very embarrassing, particularly this promotiin yesterday. I mean the venue was the size of a 2 car garage. This wasn't yesterdays show, but it was the same venue..look at this place. I will say that that Russ Jones fellow was pretty impressive and I could see him rising up the ranks so to speak. Probably not WWE or anything like that but he wont be wrestling in front of 40 people for long. That match doesnt do him justice either. We had some no shows so they had him stretch out his match and it was solid.....He's very Kevin Owens-esque in that he's pretty agile for a big guy. I don't know. He struggled picking up that pip squeak.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) He actually was pretty good his one season with the White Sox, although his all time great-like defense had slipped a bunch then. Yeah his OPS was over 800 with us. Of course the defense slipped due to injuries and old age most likely.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) You don't see any difference between being #6 all time and being ~#25 all time (which is where 10,000 yards in a career comes in)? Frank Gore has 2500 less rushing yards than Bettis in only 10 seasons compared to Bettis. Gore already has more receiving yards than him. Bettis has him by 19 in total TDs. Gore with a couple more 1000 yard seasons is a hall of famer in my book. One of my favorite RBs of all time.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) I feel I'd rather sign him to an extension rather than giving out more money to the other 6-7 guys available next off-season along with giving away our potential first round draft pick. Sign guys now while it is supposedly a weaker draft class and draft great in 2016. I agree with this. This draft class is pretty weak. Not so sure about 16 but considering we should be out of the bottom 10 next year. Go in with a rotation of Sale, Samardzija, Quintana, Rodon and FA/rookie, and that's a great rotation.
  5. Andrew Jones drawing interest from teams. Not saying he would be good, but I would like it if he was back in the league. One of my favorite all time players.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) Jim Duquette ‏@Jim_Duquette 24s24 seconds ago The agent for Jeff Samardjia, Mark Rodgers, told us "we owe to CWS to consider an offer" on a long term contract but ...realistically we Need to see " how it is " with CWS for a half a season, before deciding on whether to stay @MLBNetworkRadio Funny this is tweeted right after Rock says something. Could be the agent just playing hardball with the media.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 31, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) I'm real close to calling this certain at some point. Real close. How soon? By ST? QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 09:48 AM) Locking up Shark would put our rotation in great shape for the next 5 to 6 years. Assuming it was a 5 year extension, we'd basically have the core of our rotation locked up through 2019/2020. Sale - 2019 Quintana - 2020 Shark - 2020 Rodon - 2020/2021 Say Shark gets $21M a season, we're talking about a total commitment of about $50M for those guys in 2019 and even less every year before then. That's f***ing insanity and a credit to the job Rick Hahn has done locking guys up early and adding cost certainty to the payroll going forward. On top of that, Montas & Danish are probably only a year or two away, with Spencer Adams not far behind them if you believe he's as advanced for his age as his peripherals suggest. Honestly, lock up Shark and this is the best shape our rotation has been in in my entire lifetime as a Sox fan. That rotation has me real giddy. QUOTE (thegringokid @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) Would this mean an extension or a plain free agent contract on friendly terms? Extension.
  8. A win is a win. Tuesday should be a win against Rutgers at home. 5-5 in conference and 15-8 overall, I would take it.
  9. NCAA basketball and NBA officials are the worst referees out of any sport. It's unreal.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 31, 2015 -> 10:59 AM) was this list ever released? Yes. Sox had 3 in the top 100. 14. Carlos Rodon 76. Tim Anderson 91. Francelis Montas Cubs had 6 and the Pirates lead the league with 7 prospects in the top 100.
  11. I think I'm starting to like the idea of adding Joba Chamberlain to the bullpen. He had an excellent first half of the season but really struggled in the 2nd half. During his off days, he was traveling back home to Nebraska to be with his ailing mom at the time, so you can say that could of affected him mentally. Rosenthal also said that he has already turned down offers from teams he does not want to be apart of. What you guys think?
  12. Law's top 10 list just came out. Can anybody post what the thinks about the Sox?
  13. Hawks traded D Adam Clendening to the Vancouver Canucks for D Gustav Forsling I think this is an age swap. Clendening is ready now but can't crack the Hawks roster because its so deep. Forsling is only 18 and playing in Sweden. He had 8 points in 5 games at the WJC. Shoots left too.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) Great promo by HHH to start the show. Yeah that was great. Wonder what his major announcement is going to be Monday? Any rumors out there?
  15. Triple H great on the mic to start the show. Dissing the NFL and deflated balls. I was crying lol.
  16. Todd Zolecki ‏@ToddZolecki 3m3 minutes ago Phillies have agreed to a deal with P Chad Billingsley.
  17. Who knew Gordon Beckham would get 27 pages from SoxTalk. You guys that interested in him?
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) The 78 win projection from PECOTA needs to be taken with a grain of salt. The others in the division aren't so great either: Detroit 82 wins Cleveland 81 wins KC 72 wins Minnesota 70 wins They are right there. Brian Kenny on MLB Now just said that he doesn't agree with the White Sox PECOTA projection either. He thinks Sox will be better than that, didn't say how much better though.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) I want to see more of Peter, and there's a chance, but a non-top 30 ranking is appropriate for him. Many, many guys hit the dickens out of the ball at rookie ball only to fall by the wayside. I look at the numbers he put up at Winston-Salem moreso than I do the numbers he put up at Great Falls. Those were not as good: .236/.277/.303, 4.3% BB%, 13.8% K%, 1 SB. He hasn't been written off and he definitely received votes, but we need to see more of him. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Fry was a T100 draft prospect taken a little behind that status, and he's got the right frame and stuff for a starter. I had him slightly lower than others I think, but teens seems about right for him. Peter killed PIO pitching and was double-promoted, but that was more a function of the lack of talent at Kanny at that time than anything else (so no one to logically promoted one level). A+ looked like more of a challenge for him. Tools-wise he just isn't real exciting. That said, he did show very good contact and the hit tool was more advanced than people thought, plus he's got a cannon arm. He's intriguing, but pretty interchangeable value-wise with the few guys above and below him, to me. I think 31 (which is what he was essentially) is about right. Thank you for the explanation. Makes sense. I think it is recognizable that this farm is deeper than most think. But the end of our list are really young but have the potential to grow further up in the prospect rankings.
  20. One thing, why the Fry high ranking? I like him, but not that high because I need to see more of him in the minors. Also, I think it's a little criminal that Peter isn't ranked in the top 30. He might not of been highly regarded, but he proved his worth in half a season to deserve a ranking between at least 20-30.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) I like Tank more than most and for the reasons you give, but unless someone goes down, there are limited ABs. I can't see Tank flourishing in that situation. It wouldn't surprise me if he went somewhere and became a decent bat. I like Tank more than most as well because I can see the potential there. Like you said before Dick, it would not surprise me if he went to another team and ended up having a decent career.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) In totality, a bench of Beckham, Bonifacio, Soto, and Shuck doesn't look too bad. That's a good VETERAN bench. Veteran being key there, because I think they know their roles by this time in their career, all have seen success and failure as a starter, and now want to win. That's my opinion.
