  1. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 12:17 PM) Well obviously an assistant baseball coach carries no where near the prestige of a radio intern. Everybody knows that. Who are you trying to fool? Are you insulting me?
  2. He said trust me they need to fill the seats, and I told him that Hahn said that increase in ticket sales got Melky Cabrera and then he went on to insult me that I'm an assistant baseball coach while I'm still in college lol. What a bum.
  3. And were not done yet either I think. That's the even more exciting part.
  4. You can't bring back Cutler now, have to trade him. Do the Bears trade up for Mariota next draft? The draft is in Chicago....
  5. What are your guys/gals thoughts on him? He's had a pretty bad 2 years but he is tremendous on defense. He just recently turned 29 so he's still fairly young. My thought is if you can get him on a 1 or 2 year deal and hit in lower in the order, I think he can do really good for this team, especially on the defensive side. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cabreas01.shtml There is his career stats. Also, Chris Rose on IT predicts that he goes to the Sox for 1 year/8 million. I know he isn't an insider, just a tidbit throwing at you guys.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) Reds could be a fit, as they still don't have a left fielder (and Hamilton's speed can help with Viciedo's lack of range in LF). Viciedo for Axelrod
  7. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) I really dont know If that would be enough. I agree. But I think something around Viciedo and Nieto could get them talking.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) David Kaplan ‏@thekapman 3m3 minutes ago Gary Bettman just told us on @kapandhaugh that his rough guess is that the salary cap for 2015-16 will be 73 million dollars. Up 4 million. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) Bickell and Sharp are probably playing their last seasons in Chicago(although not even sure you can move Bickell's contract at this point) If it raises 4 million, I think only Bickell goes. Remember, Rozival and Oduya are most likely gone because then TVR will probably be bumped into a top 4 pairing with Hammer. And the bottom 2 will consist of Dahlback/Rundblad/Erixson/Johns/Vet FA. Although Saad, will need a bridge deal, and Kruger will probably get traded this off season because of Danult's climb through the system.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) Tyler Kepner ‏@TylerKepner 3h3 hours ago On Baseball: In Chicago, it's the White Sox Who Seem Closer to the 2015 World Series http://nyti.ms/1syfY0i That's what I think too. It mystifies me that Cubs are at 12/1 odds lolol. Tied with Cardinals. Not a chance. They still could finish 4th in that division. I'd take the Cardinals, Brewers, and Pirates over them. They all have better line ups and rotations than the Cubs. All though I think the Cubs rotation is better than the Pirates.
  10. Now that the Mariners are out for Viciedo. I think Houston makes the most sense for him. His defense wouldn't show as much with that short porch in LF, and his power would look pretty good there. I think a Viciedo, Nieto, Beck deal would net Castro. Thoughts?
  11. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 05:15 PM) White Sox have meetings in next few days hoping to add backups for infield and outfield. (Money an issue.now ) https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/544993636023562241 Please be Emilio Bonifacio.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 03:41 PM) I said in another thread that I miss Moises Sierra and got the response "said no one ever". Glad to see I'm not the only one. Moises makes the game fun. He knows he's a 4th outfielder, good defense, great arm, the bat could be there and he's a great clubhouse guy. Hahn I hope you read this board and bring back Moises!
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 03:33 PM) @Royals To make room for Kendrys Morales on the 40-man roster, the #Royals have DFA'd OF Moises Sierra. Pick him up!!! Designate Shuck. I love what he brings to the clubhouse. Plus, he's the only one that made Conor smile!
  14. Guys, this could be very special this year. I am beyond excited.
  15. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 02:46 PM) Anyone else sporting a chubby? Fully. These guys look so damn good in White Sox uniforms. Great day guys, great day.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) Aka...Hahn informing other teams we don't have to trade Viciedo Scott Merkin @scottmerkin · 32m 32 minutes ago Hahn said there's still a role for Viciedo on the CWS but clearly less at-bats available.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 11:22 AM) I'm guessing it's the ticket boosts and re-ups. Yeah I know, I should of put my words in green. I was just trying to be funny.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 11:20 AM) We might as well sign Scherzer. Don't tease me, but if Hahn pulled that off, he deserves the key to the city.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) Yeah, it changes the spending perspective completely. I'd love to know how the phones are ringing right now in the Sox ticket office. I know they're going to be taking all of my money this season.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) Doug Padilla ‏@ESPNChiSox 10m10 minutes ago Rick Hahn says that because ticket sales were up after winter meetings moves, Reinsdorf gave approval for Cabrera contract. Goes without saying that the White Sox are headed above what they expected to spend on 2015 payroll. Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 12m12 minutes ago Hahn: '2 driving factors. Jerry giving us latitude to aggressively pursue Melky and response we've received from Sox fans so far' This just convinces me that Hahn reads this board lol. But in all seriousness, trade Viciedo and possibly Danks, sign Bonifacio and Beachy/Medlan and call it an off season.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) Very interesting. Wonder if they spend anymore, because if they are already over projected payroll, why not keep going for it? I'm sure the Melky signing will help even more with sales. It'll be interesting to see what Hahn does, even when Hawk hints that he still thinks one or two moves will happen.
  22. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 2m2 minutes ago Good sales have given White Sox latitude and the ability to add Melky Cabrera, Rick Hahn said. Past original projected payroll. Wonder if there's more now with the Melky signing
  23. He makes it 40 on the 40 man correct?
  24. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 07:29 PM) There are some decent relief options floating around now, with Varvaro, Medlan, Wes Wright, and Casey Janssen all floating out there. I'd take just about any of them. Other than that, maybe Eric Young Jr to be 4th OF? He is fast and can defend all three OF positions. Those relievers you mentioned are all on my wish list. I'd love any one of them. No need for EY Jr. We have 3 4th OFs in Danks, Shuck and Campana already.
