  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) 5 years 120 million sound ok? Id be ok with that.
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 10m10 minutes ago Miguel Montero trade to #Cubs is agreed upon, source confirms, and #DBacks receiving two players in return. Good. They can have him. Ill take my chances with Flowers. Gave up a pretty interesting prospect in Meija.
  3. Overall I love this trade. Samardzija brings us a solid #2 starter. Ynoa's starting days are likely over, but he can be real good in the bullpen. Semien- trade from depth with Sanchez and Micah Bassitt- could develop into back end starter, best suited in for bullpen Phegley- no future with the team with 5 catchers Ravelo- loved him but no way he was going to play here with Abreu.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) per Levine Phegley goes too That's fine with me.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 11:27 AM) I don't think so. I like Ravelo, but I don't think he was ever going to get a shot with the Sox. Frankly, it's better seeing Ravelo go than Anderson. Agreed. With Abreu here, and him going on 22 next year I believe. He was not going to get a shot here.
  6. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 11:24 AM) Robert Murray ‏@RobertMurrayMLB 35s35 seconds ago Source: #WhiteSox also sending INF Rangel Ravelo to the #Athletics in the Samardzija trade. Damn it. But he's blocked by Abreu. Makes sense.
  7. To Sox Jeff Samardzija ??? To A's Marcus Semien Chris Bassitt ??? ??? I'm nervous
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) We still have to significantly upgrade the defense. If we are going to build our team around the strength of pitching, we can't continue to ignore defense. Our team defense is just as bad today as it was when we started the off-season. That has to be addressed. Hanh / Kenny have to make another move and at a minimum we need a quality outfielder. Ideal scenario you get a quality outfielder and 3B and at that point, I say you are even favorites or close to even favorites. However, I doubt we have resources do to that. I think Rasmus makes sense now for LF. I am not a huge fan of him but I can see it from the Sox standpoint. An outfielder who plays good defense, left handed hitter, and hits righties pretty well. If they can trade Viciedo, then Rasmus definitely could be in the fold.
  9. I looked at Crawford's stats last year. He hit 300 in 400 plate appearances and still had 23 SBs. If he can stay healthy and LA could take back cash, it could be interesting.
  10. My friend just tweeted that he just listened to 670 the score and they said a rumor out there is Danks for Carl Crawford. Anybody hear this?
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:43 AM) Yes. Bonifacio makes too much sense. He can play 2B, 3B, LF, CF. An everyday back-up plan at 2B would be nice, as would a guy that can go out and play CF when Eaton inevitability runs into a wall and lands on the DL for 15 days. Bonifacio makes EVEN MORE sense if they don't plan to go out and get a real LF. 2 years, 7.0M. Get it done, Rick. I put Bonifacio in my original off season plan to be super utility behind Semien and play sparingly in the OF. But as of right now, I think he would make complete sense for this team and could come pretty cheap. Bonifacio, another pen arm like Gregorson or Thatcher and a trade for a left fielder and Hahn won the off season.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) Recap would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. KW said that they want to engage extension talks with Samardzija, they did not have a window to do a deal with trade. Also said they are pretty low on cash right now, got a little room to spare. Did say they were going to get creative with some other moves.
  13. KW was on the Kap and Haugh show, and they asked what's next for the Sox and KW said more cash lol. KW said they are going to get creative with some other moves, but it does look like we are coming up tight on cash.
  14. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) KW says the plan may have changed with Rodon due to these recent moves. Hints at bullpen in 2015 Yes, and he said multiple inning relief roles too.
  15. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 01:11 AM) I think so too. Merkin alluded to such a few months ago. It's a scary prospect though. To go all in with these types of moves and then rely on an injury prone, suspect defensive 2B that hasn't hit above AA. Long-term Micah may be the option, but he hasn't shown himself to be ready just yet. I hate to see Semien go also. I think he will have an excellent season if given the chance to play every day. Micah hit pretty well in AAA last year.
  16. You know who would be great right now with Semien gone, Emilio Bonifacio.
  17. No way its Danish. I could see Wheeler, Dykstra or Recchia.
  18. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 12:57 AM) @susanslusser: Big-league source tells Chronicle: #Athletics to get RHP Chris Bassitt from #WhiteSox as well as infielder Marcus Semien (as expected). I'm ok with that. Especially if Bassitt is in the bullpen.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 12:50 AM) Put your sack on the table Hahn, sign Scherzer!!! That would be unfair
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 12:28 AM) Just to put it into text... 1.) Sale 2.) Samardzija 3.) Quintana 4.) Danks 5.) Noesi CL - Robertson SU - Duke SU - Petricka MR - Putnam MR- Webb MR - Snodgress MR - Guerra Surkamp over Snodgress. And I would bet we sign another reliever by the end of the winter meetings.
  21. Heyman now on MLB. Not sure of names, assumes Semien is in deal
