  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 06:37 AM) Because cbb refs are awful at their job and largely deserve criticism at every oppurtunity. Its the Jay Bilas line of thought. Last night for example, two plays went to the monitor that are unreviewable, overturning calls on the floor. The refs decided to institute full on replay randomly in a game for reasons known only to them. Nothing, of course, will come of it. Unlike the other 5 major sports leagues, there is no oversight committee or conferences that will come down on it. Illinois had trouble with fouling all game, but that call was a huge swing. It was a 2 point game that quickly turned to 8 in about 10 seconds off a bogus call. College basketball is getting unbearable to watch because of the refs across all levels. It's truly embarrassing how bad they are. It's not the players fault, but basketball is the softest sport across all major sports
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 10:26 PM) Leron Black is such a dirty player. Should get a suspension for that cheap shot He is a pretty dirty player, but the WF player turned into him as Black was running down the court. I think the Wake player sold it pretty good too.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 24, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) The meeting Dick Allen went to makes it sounds like both are goners. I think whatever trade they make, all but 2-3 fans on here will be overwhelmingly in favor of. It's all about prospects now. I think both will be dealt about the same time because once one is dealt, other GMs will try to steal the other because our team's years of contention will be pushed back once we trade one of them. I guess I agree if we could thoroughly rob somebody: 3 can't miss certain ML players and one mid level prospect I'd agree with dealing Avi. What did Dick Allen say about both being gone? I must've missed that.
  4. I whole heartedly disagree with your ranking on Fulmer. Think he has a starter ceiling with 7th-8th inning floor. With that, these are my rankings: 1. Eloy Jimenez 2. Michael Kopech 3. Luis Robert 4. Alec Hansen 5. Zack Collins 6. Dane Dunning 7. Dylan Cease 8. Jake Burger 9. Blake Rutherford 10. Carson Fulmer 11. Micker Adolfo 12. Casey Gillaspie 13. Spencer Adams 14. Zack Burdi 15. Gavin Sheets 16. Seby Zavala 17. Jordan Guerrero 18. Jordan Stephens 19. Luis Alexander Basabe 20. Thyago Vieira 21. Ryan Cordell 22. Luis Gonzalez 23. Bernardo Flores 24. Luis Curbelo 25. Ian Clarkin 26. Amado Nunez 27. Aaron Bummer 28. Ian Hamilton 29. Jace Fry 30. A.J Puckett
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 24, 2017 -> 01:32 PM) Why can't Rick Hahn see this and agree with this. Seems to me he's intent on trading Avi and Abreu from what Dick has posted. He's in love with the fact fans worship him for the rebuild. And Jerry has to deep down love it too cause the payroll is making him and the partners gazillions of dollars in their later years with fan approval, not scorn. It'$ a win/win for Jerry and the partner$. I think Hahn does see it, but like I said, it doesn't hurt to explore a trade for your good players. I would only take a Sale/Q type deal for Abreu. If Rockies offered Rodgers and Pint +, I'll probably take that.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) If we trade both of these guys, it is pretty well sealed that we are looking at 2020 or 2021 to make the playoffs. I agree, which is why I don't think that happens. I think Avi will be the one to go. Have to sell high on him.
  7. Jose Abreu is gonna be our David Ortiz/Jose Bautista. I think an extension of 4 years/70 million is beneficial for everyone involved. Stick Abreu at DH in his later years and he lengthens that lineup a ton. I get exploring trades, but unless the right deal comes around like a Sale/Q type deal, I want Abreu around for this rebuild to be the captain and a mentor to the young players.
  8. Guerrero is the only one that bothers me that is not protected. I would of DFA'd May for him. No one is gonna take Polo and Peter is a utility player.
  9. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 09:46 PM) Let's just hope Pentecost makes it past the first 3 picks. Pentecost has done nothing to be warranted a pick at #4 imo. My hopes are the Sox claim Appel and DFA someone like May, and then draft Nick Burdi.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) Leury? Really? Willy.
  11. No real issues from me. I would of protected Guerrero and Peter as well and got rid of Saladino and Garcia
  12. Bears sign K Cairo Santos. Dude was good with Chiefs then got hurt. Finally, Connor Barth is cut.
  13. Agreed Brian. I liked the show, but the main event was just awful
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) *Suggestive eyebrow raise* Though the sonny gray trade helped a bit in that regard. One name I look at, Billy McKinney. Only 23, did well in AA/AAA, has no future in NY. I think he would be a good piece.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) The White Sox should find a couple of other teams that want to up their offers to Otani and take some prospects off their hands. If you can get a top 8 prospect for $500k, what could you get for a couple of million? Twins, Yankees, and Rangers come to mind.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) warm bodies but each with one plus tool He's also got a power curve. If he figures it out command wise, him and Burdi at the back end of the pen.....oh my.....
  17. With the roster now at 36, figure Covey, Petricka, Putnam, Saladino, Willy Garcia, Hansen, May, Tilson, and Palka all could be in jeopardy.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) Nice move. As others, I don't expect us to compete for Otani, so taking advantage of that market in this way is nice to see. Burr and now Vieria are the types of players I like seeing added. Even the SS we added from the Rangers is a decent prospect. That kid was a 7 figure signing bonus and is still young.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 08:58 AM) https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/white-s...-coach-of-year/ 27 years old. Pretty impressive. Played against him in college. Pretty cool to see he's having success managing with my favorite team.
  20. Goodell needs to hand over his email and phone records in this Kaep collusion case. I really hope he's a big enough idiot to collude and this could fire him.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 4, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) The team looks like it is building depth for his move, after pretty much saying that they didn't consider him a part of the core going forward. For me 2+2 =4. When did the team say that they didn't consider him part of the core going forward?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 4, 2017 -> 09:45 AM) Betweeen Gillaspie and now this kid, I think we can kiss Abreu good bye. Really? lol
  23. https://twitter.com/BradBiggs/status/925746340751204352 Watch this guys. This is a terrible explanation of why it was overturned. Based on that replay this dude provided, you can't see s*** and these officials and replay keeps embarrassing themselves
