  1. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 7m7 minutes ago One source says #Athletics working on multiple trades. All teams are for most part, but source says, “This is Billy re-working the club.”
  2. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 37s38 seconds ago Sources: Trade #Athletics are discussing does NOT involve Samardzija. And that guy only has 160 followers. Very doubtful he's reliable.
  3. Jane Lee ‏@JaneMLB 21m21 minutes ago AL source says A's are involved in multi-player deal. On verge of trading big piece for three or four players.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 07:57 PM) I'd have to guess that it's Boston. I agree to an extent. Has Boston been linked to him in the past? Samardzija isn't that big of a name, and Boston is a team that wants that recognizable name honestly.
  5. Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 5m5 minutes ago #Athletics on the verge of a significant deal involving Jeff Samardzija, according to @susanslusser. This could be us?
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) Somone needs to run Corey Perry's b**** ass. Agreed. He's such a bum and has a reputation of being a baby and a sore loser when they're getting embarrassed.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) If 5 guys from a draft class make the big leagues, you literally have won that year's draft. By a lot. Oh I know that but when you look at that class and the names that I put out there that I think will make the MLB, I sure can be wrong but would you argue against it? Anderson- I think he can definitely hit at the MLB level. Danish- I think he'll be a 4-5 starter Mitchell- Has great stuff, just needs better control, if he does that, he can be a high leverage reliever. Dykstra- I see him as a Bassitt type. 4-5 guy. May- 4th outfielder Michaelczewski- Improves his contact rate, I think he can definitely be a starting 1B or 3B. He's been young at every level. And sorry, 6 names
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) I continue to think no one in their right mind would give up bullpen help for Viciedo. I didn't say good bullpen help. But maybe some bust prospects that have good stuff or something along those lines.
  9. Great write up. Out of the our first top 10 picks, I can see 5 making the it to the MLB in Anderson, Danish, Dykstra, Mitchell, and Michaelczewski. My sleepers from this class is Lowry, Fruedenberg, and Wheeler.
  10. I think Melky will be our first move at the Winter Meetings. Then we trade Viciedo for some bullpen help and then trade for a right handed starter.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 02:08 PM) I could have sworn someone on Soxtalk made an argument that Alexeis defensive statistics and zone ratings are skewed negatively because he gets to a lot of balls that he really shouldnt, and then cant make the play because they are such incredibly difficult plays. Or, i could be having a bad Hawk flashback I remember this as well, just don't remember who was arguing that case.
  12. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 02:56 PM) Screw it, trade them Danks! Weren't they rumored to like him at last years trade deadline?
  13. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) Exactly Rooster. Jose F is their #1, and he will be back. They have a lot of SP talent, no one is sure how many actual MLB SPs they actually have beyond Jose. They aren't in love with Eovaldi, and pairing him with Salty for Viciedo/Semien/2 solid prospects could do it. Let's not pretend like the Marlins haven't made trades to save $, and that they haven't made some terrible trades, too. Marlins have no need for Viciedo because they have Yelich, Ozuna, and Stanton in their OF. I don't know what it could take to get Eovaldi and Salty but one of Phegley/Flowers will be sent back the other way most likely. Also, I kind a feel like Noesi is better than Eovaldi. I would definitely want to do better than him to put in between Sale and Quintana.
  14. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) I would guess between this and the move for JB Shuck, Danks won't be back. I think whoever of the 3 performs best in ST gets the 4th OF job. I'd still favor Danks though. Campaign can only run and his defense is eh, and he has a noodle arm. Shuck I don't know much about. Banks can play all 3 OF positions above average.
  15. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) Lol nominated for a good glove. Good joke man, I laughed pretty hard. You might want to check these crazy things called stats. They don't lie and they don't paint a very nice picture for Alexei's D. Then please provide the defensive stats and rank them amongst all SSs in the MLB because I cannot find them.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 10:11 AM) then that should be a sweet carrot to make it work. put him in the outfield. He has never played the OF, he played SS before the OF.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 10:07 AM) Sox have signed Tony Campana. https://twitter.com/Zach_Isler/status/538358078618730496 http://instagram.com/p/v8sXWMs68W/ Call him up when Sox are competing for the playoffs in September
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 10:08 AM) i wonder if they will bite on a rtn of C Beck, T Thompson, M Davidson. they are ready to take the next step in the majors. I doubt it, they have no need for Davidson because they have Votto at first and Frazier at third. Plus, I think thats giving up on Davidson to early. He had one bad year like Bruce, he'll figure it out and still could be this teams third baseman of the future.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 10:02 AM) yes he is, i really like this idea. but there is something holding me back. something about his salary and yrs. He just turned 30 years old in August. I would definitely give him 4 years/60 million.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 09:58 AM) https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/538287338066305024 I was trying to find the thread for this to post this here but thank you. Please Hahn, sign him. The perfect 2 hitter. This leaves our trading chips for a right handed starter/catcher if Hahn wanted to upgrade. If Sox were to get Melky, I'd LOVE to work out a deal with the Padres for Ross ad Grandal.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 09:56 AM) I'd seriously be happy if he was our final addition I wouldn't be happy if he was our final decision. I still expect another bullpen arm (L or R), and a LFer (I want Melky so bad).
  22. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/quic...ft-capuano.html Read the part for Bruce (obviously). I think if Sox were to acquire Bruce, it would have to be a 3 way deal.
  23. Don't want Montero. Don't think he's much of an upgrade over Flowers. And at 3 years/40 million at age 31, no thanks. Not to mention, since his contract extension, he hasn't done anything. Give me Grandal or Castro who is younger and with similar stats with proven past seasons. That is if Sox were to upgrade the C position.
  24. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 09:37 AM) When that SS is old, a mediocre fielder, and not a + bat that analogy doesn't even come close to working. This board's value of Alexei is incredibly overblown. If (even though it probably won't happen) they trade Alexei this board is going to erupt with disappointment with the return. How is he a mediocre fielder? He was nominated for a gold glove, I think he's above average to say the least. And he just won a Silver Slugger award at SS in the AL. He doesn't have a high OPS because he doesn't walk a bunch, but he hits for a high average and can still steal bases. I think your value of Alexei is incredibly pessimistic.
  25. If you guys didn't see, Pedro Strop got in a car accident last night in DR. Luckily, it seems like he is going to be ok, but Kaplan tweeted out a picture of his car, and it looked pretty beat up. Glad that he's expected to be ok.
