  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) I wouldn't term their discussion "aggressive" You hearing anything regarding free agency Rock?
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 05:28 PM) yep I just remembered when I saw the name. Ortiz is another big power arm pitcher. damn the future is looking nice.... 2016 many thanks. If Ortiz could actually find the plate.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) White Sox or Dodgers list? White Sox. Sorry.
  4. Not that it matters, but Garcia got placed at #19 on top 20 prospects list according to mlb.com
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 2m2 minutes ago The #Nats are informing teams that ace Jordan Zimmermann is available, but only if they get strong return, emphasizing it is not a salary dump I'd love to add JZ, but his price would be huge.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 12:31 PM) of course, the problem is you posted this with the Bulls about to play the Kings. As the season goes on, I think a Kings W would be more valuable than a Bulls W right now. Bulls will be just fine, but the Kings are so inconsistent that I hope they win tonight lol.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) I don't see the White Sox being done reliever shopping. I bet we see a right hander with closing experience signed. There are still about half a dozen guys who could be targeted. Agreed. Even Hahn said that they aren't done in the reliever market after they signed Duke.
  8. For Bulls fans, we should really be rooting for the Sacramento Kings this season. So far they are 6-5 this season and if they finish outside of the bottom 10 of the league, the Bulls will get their first round draft pick from the Luol Deng trade. This pick could become a huge asset in next years draft to move up or acquire players.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 02:39 AM) Phil Rodgers actually hits the entire article dead on IMO. 5 Things the Sox Should Do Next I actually agree with all 5 points from Rogers. What's Maeda's ceiling? I thought I read he was a back of the rotation type guy?
  10. Oh he did have another one? Wow, i didn't see that. My apologies board.
  11. Recently DFA'd by the Braves today. Yes he has had injuries, but when healthy, he was a key member of the pen. 1. Are you interested in him as being a low risk high reward type guy? 2. Would you claim him off waivers?
  12. I think it depends on Danks this off season. If the Sox somehow manage to trade Danks and Rodon performs well in ST, then I think he will be the #4-5 starter. If not, he starts in AA or AAA.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 08:59 AM) This may seem a little silly, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Sox made a major move today or tomorrow, as tomorrow the first installment of season ticketholder money is due. Plus the 40 man roster is due tomorrow to protect from rule 5.
  14. Should be seeing some moves today, as the deadline for adding players to protect them from the rule 5 draft is tomorrow.
  15. I brought the up in one of my off season threads. I would love this. If they can add him and Sandoval or Pederson that would be ideal.
  16. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:05 PM) Playing devil's advocate to raise a point here. Is it double standard that we constantly use WAR to grade players nowadays, but when it comes to actually paying the players, we aren't thrilled to pay $10 mil for a 2 WAR player but are fine with $5 mil for a 1 WAR player? Even without looking at WAR, Miller is still a 8th inning/ closer material while Duke is more of a 7th/8th inning guy. If you want to argue about years here, Miller will be 33 at the end of a 4 year deal and Duke will be 36 at the end of this deal. Duke will be 34 at the end of the deal. He turns 32 next April.
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) ‏@zach_duke I am so thrilled to be joining the @whitesox family! This team has some elite young talent! Can't wait to get started! Atta boy Duke. He sees the young talent Hahn is building.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) If it is any more than a couple million guarantee, it is pissing money away. Well they threw away 3 million at Belisario last year lol sooooo I wouldn't be upset if it was that number.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:40 AM) If Ethier or Crawford were to be included, I'd eat a hat if Danks didn't get sent to LA. Same. That would upset me very much. No reason to take on a bad contract even if the Dodgers kicked in money.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) I'll take one of their best pitching prospects, Pederson, and one of the Cuban infielders to fill in at short for Alexei. We have leverage. Hope this gets talks with the Mets started up. We have leverage, but I don't think we have that much leverage.
  21. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) Pardon my lack of knowledge regarding Perderson, but is he a guy who would be in the Sox's outfield in 2015 if he were acquired? Or would he need some time in AAA? Like another poster said, barring a collapse in ST, Pederson would be the Sox starting LFer in 2015
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 11:17 AM) LOL, Puig is crazy talk. He's a top five value in the game. Personally, I don't see any way the Sox could take on Crawford. There's just too much wrong there. Maybe Ethier could be acquire if there's plenty of cash and/or Danks is exchanged. As for Alexei, I see a few different ways the Sox can go. 1.) Alexei for Pederson - unlikely but could make a lot of sense for the Sox if the Dodgers get a little desperate. 2.) Alexei for Kemp and cash 3.) Alexei for Guerrero and Zach Lee 4.) Alexei and Danks for Ethier, cash and some player(s)/prospect(s) of value I was just messing around with Puig, I know there is no chance of him. Regarding your scenarios, I really only like the first 2. I hate number 3 and #4 even though we would get rid of Danks, Ethier still has 3 more years on his deal even with cash included. It'd be interesting to see what those prospects of value would be then. Plus, I'm just not a fan of Ethier, at all.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 10:51 AM) That's your MO but I disagree. Maybe Pederson if the Dodgers are soured on him + the surplus in the OF. No way on the other two. Would Kemp + Cash make sense? I know it's been discussed that the Dodgers won't trade Puig, but what if Hahn pulled that off? I really do not want to see Ethier or Crawford in a White Sox uniform.
  24. Now things are getting interesting. Honestly, I think one of Pederson, Urias, or Seager has to be included in this deal.
