  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 11:26 AM) What is the market for Hanley Ramirez? It seems like a lot of teams prefer Headley/Sandoval? Who's been suspected to be in the bidding other than SF and LAD? Maybe the Red Sox? I think the big markets like Boston and the Dodgers are only in play for Hanley. But I would take him, his injury history does scare me a little bit. Just small nagging injuries he usually has.
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) I didn't want to start a new thread, but the New York Post predicted where the top 30 free agents would go. Only Masterson would sign with the Sox at 2/$18 million. Others that the Sox might be interested in: - Martin to the Rangers 4/$60 - Sandoval to The Red Sox 5/$100 - Martinez stays with the Tigers 4/$60 - Headley stays with the Yankees 3/$48 - Aoki to the Rangers 3/$24 And the Cubs will sign both Scherzer and Lester for a 8/$200 and 6/$140, respectively. I hope they do.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) I think you're confusing "Montas sucks" with "He's good, but not worth keeping if it means we can get Jay Bruce back". I like Montas. I love his arm. I just don't think you gamble with a guy who MAY end up in the bullpen when you could be getting a guy like Jay Bruce back in return. There is a big difference in value if he ends up as a starter, or ends up as a reliever. I'm not willing to place his value at the highest end of that teeter-totter and have it cost us a chance to get Bruce. That's just my opinion. If people here want to think he's untouchable, so be it, but you'll never convince me he's not worth a guy like Jay Bruce, not at this stage in Montas' development. I'm all for getting Bruce, as he was in one of my first off season proposals, but I don't think I would give up on Montas quite yet. I'd offer Viciedo, Beck, Sanchez and Bassitt for Bruce and Marshall.
  4. So what exactly is Danish's ceiling? Because he doesn't throw that hard but he has nasty stuff.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) Won't happen but man it'd be hysterical if the Rays somehow got Bryant. I think it'd be hysterical if they got Russell, Almora, Baez or Edwards.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) Nothing like a big time QB commit to make your monday Who?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 10:27 AM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 7m7 minutes ago #Brewers announce that Aramis Ramirez has exercised his end of the $14M option and will be back with the team next season. Like I said in the main thread, this line up is going to be real good especially now that Aramis has exercised his option.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 09:22 AM) The White Sox have released a whole slew of minor leaguers... RHPs Matt Abramson, Brandon Hardin, Jamie Patterson, David Putman, Juan Ramirez, Anthony Santiago, Charlie Sharrer, Kevin Vance LHPs Jose Bautista, Jeff McKenzie INFs Cody Yount, Dan Wagner, Grant Buckner OFs Patrick Palmeiro, Chevy Clarke, Michael Earley, Carl Thomore, Adam Heisler, Sam Macias Mostly not surprising. Abramson has a big live fastball and wasn't around long, thought they may have stuck with him a little longer. Putnam had a nice breaking ball. Vance has had some success over the years. Michael Earley performed reasonably well with the bat and was a good defender, thought they'd keep him around as a 4th OF in the higher levels. Hardin and Vance have even gotten votes in our T25 at points along the way, though neither was ever ranked. None surprised me as well. Abramson does have a live fastball with great movement, but the games that Kanny was on tv, he would leave everything high and get shelled. Which led to his 5+ era. Vance just hasn't put a season together the last 2 years. The rest are MiLB fillers.
  9. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) Wow that's a stomping, Minny is supposed to be decent as well. Illinois had one of those "secret" scrimmages as well, beat Dayton by 4 per reports. Very encouraging for Illinois. They shot the ball real well from reports also.
  10. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 09:01 AM) We traded 24-25 yr old Jake Sanchez, who had a decent year in Oak system, for Taylor. In A ball.
  11. My god the Hawks suck right now. It's time to put some blame on Q too for switching the lines so much.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2014 -> 07:47 PM) If he signs in this period, I would imagine a team that went over its cap already (Yankees and Red Sox, I'm looking at your) would bid big, as they incur no further penalty to do so. Cubs and Rangers can't sign him for more than 250K and the Red Sox, Yankees and Rays can't sign him more than 300K. Hahn needs to be all over this kid, and Abreu needs to do some recruiting.
  13. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Nov 2, 2014 -> 08:03 PM) Should the Sox go all in on Moncada? YES
  14. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Nov 2, 2014 -> 07:44 PM) @philgrogers: White Sox have to be considered a big factor w/19-yr-old Cuban SS Yoan Moncado, who played w/Jose Abreu. He's a big talent. Moist.....
  15. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/yoan...d-showcase.html I would be all over this guy and spend our entire pool on this kid. Scouts say he's the next Jorge Soler.
  16. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 2, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) Would guys rather the Sox allocate their funds across a group of players like in 2014, or go after one stud prospect like in 2013? They should have around $3.2 Million to spend. Group of players.
  17. Apparently Nick Cafardo from the Boston Globe thinks the White Sox will have major interest in him. I don't want anything to do with him. Thoughts?
  18. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/arizona...ade-talk-110214 He has 3 years/40 million left on his contract. 31 years old, but has struggled the past 2 seasons since signing that extension. He is a lefty bat but I don't think he's that much of a upgrade than Flowers at this point. What are your guys thoughts?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 1, 2014 -> 10:49 PM) Finally watched Montas' outing tonight. His slider was really good. With that said, he definitely seems to be the closer of the future. Why? If he keeps develops his change up, he can be an effective starter.
  20. Montas inning: Walk (5 pitches) Flare single to left DP on a slider K swinging on a slider.
  21. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/2014...redictions.html Top 50 free agents from mlbtraderumors with predictions. For the Sox: Victor Martinez, Colby Rasmus and Luke Gregorson. For the Cubs: Jon Lester, Russell Martin, David Robertson, Justin Masterson and Jake Peavy.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2014 -> 01:59 PM) They brought him and and declined his option? What? His option was 3.65 million. Buyout was 150K. He's still arbitration eligible, they think he'll make less in arbitration.
