  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) The proof is going to be the big league team in a couple years. If they're still a 73 win team in 2016 then Rick Hahn will have made some serious mistakes, and it's too early to know how some of his moves will work out. I agree. Hahn has done well with most of his trades so far, its now a matter of wait and see if he spends the money he has wisely on the right players. So far he's 1-2 (Abreu and Keppinger).
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) 35. Jones will have to be re-instated from the 60 day DL. Oh yeah. They have to do that for risk to losing him in rule 5 draft right? But after that, they can put him back on the 60 day DL because of the TJ surgery, correct?
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) Ben Badler and Josh Norris of Baseball America were discussing the Yankees system being underrated on twitter. Badler said that there are many systems that are worse. I suggested the Angels and asked his thoughts on the White Sox. He said that Angels and White Sox both near the bottom still. I disagree. I think White Sox are firmly in the mid to late teens but here is the chat transcript: Ben Badler ‏@BenBadler 1h1 hour ago It's trendy to take shots at the Yankees farm system, but I'm looking at some of our Top 30s. Several teams in much worse shape. James Fox ‏@JamesFox917 47m47 minutes ago @jnorris427 @BenBadler Angels the worst system? White Sox out of the 20s and into the teens yet? Ben Badler ‏@BenBadler 42m42 minutes ago @JamesFox917 @jnorris427 They're both toward the bottom of the pack for me. James Fox ‏@JamesFox917 41m41 minutes ago @BenBadler @jnorris427 Really? Rodon, Adams, Danish, Montas, Anderson, Johnson, Hawkins? They have 3-4 top 100 guys. Much improved system Ben Badler ‏@BenBadler 39m39 minutes ago @JamesFox917 @jnorris427 They have a few good prospects at the top, but no better than what the majority of teams have. The rest is thin. James Fox ‏@JamesFox917 37m37 minutes ago @BenBadler @jnorris427 Interesting. Ill take my chances with their pitching. Most theyve had in years. Not saying much though. I respect Badler, but I disagree with him on this also. A lot of teams aren't even stacked at the top than we are. The depth in the farm has certainly gotten better and I believe it should get out of the 20s.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 7m7 minutes ago White Sox officially decline rhp Felipe Paulino $4-million club option for 2015 ($250,000 buyout). 40-man roster remains at 37. 40 man is really 34. Konerko (retiring) Lindstrom (free agent) Jones(60 day DL)
  5. Out of all the videos, my favorites are: CF Starling Heredia, and RF Franklin Reyes
  6. Tigers extend qualifying offers to Scherzer and Martinez. Makes Martinez less likely now. Andy Dirks was also claimed by the Blue Jays. Tigers also out righted Don Kelly and Evan Reed
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 10:45 AM) Dan (Chicago) One doesn't hear much mention of Rick Hahn as a top-flight GM, but his track record thus far suggests he's quite good at his job. What are your impressions of him? Klaw (4:43 PM) I think he's been a top-flight GM so far. They've become a much better drafting/developmental org since he took over. I was talking to a scout there I've been friendly with for a long time, and I could hear his excitement about all of the arms they've got - and he's right. It's the best group of pitching prospects they've had in a decade. I am one of Hahn's biggest fans. This is encouraging to see as we all know we have promising young players coming up soon.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) anthony fenech ‏@anthonyfenech 32m32 minutes ago The Tigers have picked up Joakim Soria's option, I'm being told. Good, I hope he serves up more 89 mph **** shots to the Sox hitters.
  9. Could be interesting, but O's declined option on Nick Markakis
  10. Rafael Soriano and Mike Adams contracts got declined also. Not saying I'd sign either, but interesting bullpen pieces. Adams last 2 years, although hurt, did have 56% ground ball rate. Fits what Hahn is trying to do.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 29, 2014 -> 06:13 PM) For some reason, I keep thinking Samardzija might be their main target this offseason. I'm not a fan, but could a deal look like Anderson, Beck and Viciedo for him? I'm a Samardzija fan, one because my cousin is best friends with him. But, I would not trade Anderson for Samardzija even if he did sign an extension.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 29, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) Word is that Theo was in Florida the week before Maddon opted out Probably told him he had that opt out clause that Maddon didn't even know about.
  13. Rasmus sucks. Had a good year last year and then in his second season was good. Since then strikeouts have gone up (33%) and walks have gone down.
  14. Feel bad for Renteria for when they make this move. I just will never have respect for the Cubs for Theo.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 29, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) From the MLBTradeRumors chat on Adam Lind: Comment From Bret Although it could be nothing, the Jays claiming Justin Smoak adds, um, smoke, to the Adam Lind rumours. Who are some teams you see as landing spots for him, and what can the Jays hope for in return? 2:01 Steve Adams: I don't think it's nothing. Smoak's going to make nearly $3MM next season -- they're basically giving him Lind's roster spot in my mind. Tigers, White Sox, Mariners all make some sense for Lind. I don't know that the return is enormous, but I think you can get something along the lines of a bullpen piece or a solid, if somewhat unspectacular prospect back. Fourth/fifth starter type of ceiling that's a bit of a ways off from the Majors? Mike Recchia.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) Richards is used to 17+ mins a game, at least last yr. before then more like 19+ mins. second, I would like to see Saad plus Sharp with Richards a little more. I think Versteeg days along with Bickell day being numbered. Versteeg has played real well this season....
  17. Yeah I wonder when we will find out what we get back for Beckham.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 10:46 AM) Gordon Wittenmeyer from the Sun-Times says that Jon Lester and Jake Peavy is a package deal to the Cubs in the offseason. Not too surprising. Good luck to the Cubs.
  19. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 27, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) 5 IP 2 hits 1 ER 1 BB 3 Ks for Montas. So for our AFL all stars so far that's 26.2 15 hits 4 ER 9 BB 29 Ks....0 HRs The kid is just impressive.
